that was fast. I was only off for a couple hours! I don't think I like it, but it does make it faster to comment. It took forever for the window to pop up for the review box.

Yeah... twas weird. I was just clicking on review when they implemented it, so I had to refresh the page and review properly. Twas funky. Is it better? We'll see.

Hmm I am in between as I was getting used to what they had before this one.. I liked how it did not go back to the top after pressing review, like the setup before that one. Though I have not tried this one as I was re-reading a chapter and I have already reviewed it so cannot test it.
But one aspect I do like is can tell you are logged out or logged in with a glance and easily login where as before had to wait the window to open to see if you are logged in or not.

Well that certainly explains why the email alert now says 'comment' instead of 'review'. I was trying to figure that out.
It will probably take awhile to get used to, but it will make reviewing a bit faster.

I think it's an okay change. Reviewing will be faster, which probably means people will start getting more reviews. There are actuall some people who never even noticed the review button before... seriously, I know them.

Only issue for me is now, no fanfic downloaders will work. I think it might be because of the change in layout.
So sad.

I think the downloaders will update themselves eventually to be able to manage the new layout.

Flagfic has already updated to accommodate the changes at FFN, according to their homepage - it works for me, just tested it.

Reviewing may be faster but hassle we may get!

I actually like this update. I'm usually too lazy to click on the REVIEW button and wait for it to load in a new pop-up window. That's why I review a lot less than I would otherwise.

If I want to review, I just open the chapter, go down, click on the review button, then push the review window at the side and write in it whenever I can think of something while reading. Let's see how the new layout changes that. NOt that I am reading very much there any more ...

Kitty279: Notepad works great that, it is what I use. Then just a matter of Copy/Paste into the review screen. Well so far it has been a bit easier to use as do not have to wait for the window to open.

Notepad is for Windows, however - and I am using a Mac. Oh well, for the few reviews I am still writing it's not that important. I'm writing more here in one hour than on FFN all week.

None of the stories I've been reading and reviewing on have been updated so I haven't seen the new review lay out yet.

Same here. Even more so as at least half of the stories I was following were RtB stories.

Alright I have seen the new review system. I HATE IT! I'm to lazy to be bothered logging on when I want to review something, I just typed my name into the signature box, with the new system you HAVE to log on if you want your name there otherwise you just show up as guest. If there weren't so many good stories that I am waiting to be updated on FFN I would leave and never go back. Unfortunately a lot of the stories aren't available on any other site

I'm in agreement. It's a horrible update. FFN is beginning to lose all my respect, what with their deleting of some damn good stories, but I do like the addition of the image manager.

Eh the images are nice but annoying at the same time, as they take few seconds to load.
From the recent updates I can say I like having the summery at the top the page as easy to remind yourself what is going on. They also added more text to that area but few people are using it.
I suppose that I do not mind the Review area, but I do wish it had a hide feature for chapter'd stories as when I page down the next page button is half way up the window...

Just finally logged in to review an update.
Hm. Not totally bad when you review with your name. BUT I usually write the review while reading, so I don't forget anything. The separate window for the review was better for that method. Now I have to scroll down to the review box, type a comment, go back, find my place, read further, scroll down ... much more bother. Or I have to open a Word document and review there and then copy and paste into the review box.

I just found a drawback to this new review system.
You cannot Alert or Favorite a story without Reviewing the chapter/story.....
Never mind... hate the new setup.. the fav and alert stuff is under the review box.... Think I preferred it when it was a drop down menu

Does anyone know if reviews can be erased? Because for two seperate stories I have had my reviews erased. Neither of them were flames although one was a little critical and the other one had nothing but good thing's to say about the story.

I'm a little upset that the author deleted my review for the story I said nice thing's about

I do not know about why but it could be that the author did it as they can remove them, just had a look in my access area and I could if I decided to. But do think it rude to just delete one unless there was something wrong with it.
Edit: btw they updated the main page...

Maybe that was an accident. Maybe the author wanted to reply to the review, and accidentally hit the delete button. I've done things like that before.

Don't worry about it blackrose. If the author can't take nice criticism then they shouldn't post their fics on the internet. I can see a whole lot of authors losing reviews because they can't stand some help.
I also agree with physicssquid that the author could have also accidentally deleted the review trying to navigate the new review mod feature. I'd send a pm to make sure if it really bothers you.
