When you read a book do you listen to certain music to get you in the mood or is there songs out there that remind you of a series?
For Harry Potter the songs Marchin' On by One Republic and This is War by 30 Seconds to Mars.
For Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow and the rest of the Ender's Shadow Series I think of Lifehouse's CD Lifehouse.
For Twilight (I read it to see what the hubbub was about) I got N'Sync's christmas CD stuck in my head. Don't ask me why
Anyone else listen to music while reading or think that a song represents a series well?

For me, the music I listen to doesn't matter, not really. I don't have specific type of music that I listen to when I read, nor do I hear a song and immediately think of a series.
Sometimes I will be listening to a song and think of a particular scene in a book, but not always. For example, when I listen to Within Temptation's album, The Unforgiving, the song, Shot in the Dark brings to mind the final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort at the end of book 7, and the song, In the Middle of the Night brings to mind their fight at the end of book 4.
It doesn't always happen like that, but at the moment I'm actually listening to that album so it was an easy example to think of.

If I'm actually bored enough, I tailor the music to the particular scene, such as listening to Death Before Dishonor or War Is The Answer by 5 Finger Death Punch when reading a battle scene. Otherwise, I listen to A Day To Remember typically.

I tend not to listen to music while I read because it distracts me too easily but when I listen to certain songs I tend to think up scenes for a Dark Harry series I've been plotting for a while (don't expect this to ever be posted, because it won't be. I don't write).

Harry Potter- I Want to Live by Josh Gracin (I actually had a HP music video running through my head when listening to this song....still do!). When I listened to this, I wasn't reading and the music video was of parts of the movies. I don't read and listen to music, that is the only multitasking I can't do, though I can read and watch TV.

I listen exclusively to Blue October when I'm writing, with the exception of Wizard Rock songs.

I don't read and listen to music at the same time but my favorite artists seem to have a lot of songs that fit Harry Potter perfectly and I usually go to youtube and type in Harry Potter and the title or artist to see what comes up. Some of the bands are Linkin Park especially their Meteora album, skillet, within temptation, evanescence, just to name a few.

I listen to music all the time, the only times I don't are when I'm asleep, eating or driving, and I listen to anything and everything, which means my playlists are extremely diverse. So diverse that I could be listening to something by Rammstein and the next song could be by PJ Harvey or Alison Krauss, followed by Korn or Deathstars.

The only time I DON'T listen to music is when I read or write. I don't listen to music when I sleep at night, but I have to have music in the car and I usually sleep in the car (BTW, I can't drive so don't have a heart attack that I'm sleeping while driving). I especially listen to music while working as my job is, most of the time, a lonely thing for me.

The only time I'm not listening to music is when I'm listening to an audiobook I tried to do both but I just get confused

I have to have music on in the car too, otherwise it's just awkward silence. Also whenever I'm doing any housework, especially washing up as I can't hear the TV from the kitchen. I'm not really supposed to listen to music at work but if I'm standing around waiting for a huge bulk of printing/photcopying then I generally listen to it. It's in a small closed off room anyway.

Well, that would be confusing for anyone, dear. I know I can't do it... I do like audio books when I want to listen to a story, though. Especially at night, when I'm too lazy to read.

I tend to listen to music around every second possible. I can't stand reading in silence, it's just weird to me. I have to have some sort of sound playing, even if it's just some guy blathering on on the TV.

I play the HP soundtracks (in order) while I'm writing and various others when I'm not. I could be listening to (at any time of day): Linkin Park, Evanescence, Green Day, Filter, Nickleback, Enya, John Williams, Katy Perry, Muse, Foreigner, Duran Duran, lots... I have a very random and eclectic music taste. If you like classical piano music try the cd 'Dark Night of the Soul' by Philip Wesley. It's gorgeous, especially the title track.

I listen to The Game and Indestructible when I'm strength training. I don't know why, but those songs usually get me lifting 20 pounds heavier than normal.

I like the old Linkin Park, but the new Linkin Park is just bad, IMO. Definitely agree with you there. Meteora and Hybrid Theory were brilliant, Minutes to Midnight was just Meh and the latest 2 (or is it 3? I never bothered with them) just stink. I like Duran Duran and Madness when I'm in the car with my Dad. Robbie Williams, too.
