This is just some rambling of mine:
Imagine a DH reading set BEFORE Dung steals the locket (maybe while they're cleaning the house in OotP).
In particular, at the point when they describe the locket for the first time in DH, have them pull it out of the discard pile and examine it, wherein Kreacher puts up a much more vocal protest to the Locket being thrown out:
Kreacher: "That's Master Regulus'! Kreacher must fulfill his duty!"
Sirius: "What are you talking about Kreacher? Tell me what you know!"
As a result, Kreacher has a breakdown of sorts, and reveals Regulus' tale to the entire group, including Sirius.
Naturally, Kreacher's attitude (as well as Sirius' attitude towards him) will be improved to the point that he acts like he did when the trio last saw him before the Final battle.
Due to the fact that they have in their possession the ACTUAL horcrux means that they can strike an early blow against Voldemort (since he's still laying low at this time) while simultaneously preventing the early demises of Sirius, Dumbledore, and others.
If anybody wants to write something based on this, go right ahead; I have no plans to write anything myself.

OHHHHH! That would be cool! Would be nice to see Sirius get on with Kreacher for once.

The characters that wouldn't be found at #12 during OotP:
Luna
Neville
Malfoy
NO TIME TRAVEL
As a side note though, I'd prefer if there was more character dialogue than book text (Kinda like Point and Rose's writing styles, where there can be instances of whole pages of character interactions between adjacent book passages)

You should probably throw in Ted Tonks for good measure. After all, in the span of DH, Ted dies, and their only daughter gets married, has a child, and then dies along with her husband in less than a year. Of course, these events could be prevented... I forgot to mention another key character: Fleur. If you want to bring her in, that's fine with me. Just remember that at the time the story takes place, she and Bill have been together for 4 months tops, and that is just on the professional level of working together in Gringotts; I doubt they immediately got into a relationship as soon as the Tournament ended. |

Why not bring in Amelia, too? It would help to take action and prevent a lot of the problems, and she's way higher up than Kingsley and Tonks. And she's so seldom included in reading at GP.
