Hi everyone, Been around here for a while, but finally took the plunge and made an account as I have been toying with an idea for a while, but I don't think I have the talent to write it. So, after the war ends, but ignoring the epilogue, the entire DA makes some sort of fealty pledge to Harry, but due to the Hallows, he, and subsequently they become immortal. They travel through dimensions, and for some reason are pulled through to the council of Elrond. Of course the council don't trust them so Hermione performs a spell to prove they can help, and the books appear. Bonus points for someone recognising the ring as a Horcrux, and I would love to see it continued through the actual quest. I think having a few dozen wizards at Helms Deep probably would have helped. I'd also like Boromir to survive, and possibly Theodred. I would like it to end up as Harry/Luna, Neville/Ginny, Hermione/Boromir, but I'm not fussy. So, yeah... Have at it!

This sounds like a wicked idea! (: I'd love to read it. Though I don't have much talent to write it either. I hope someone does!

Hmmm interesting concept, hope someone takes this up at some point as I imagine it would be quite interesting a read.

Would the LotR group be from the movie or from the book (as you can see, my interest is peaked).

I wish I had the time to take this up as it sounds really good, but between my stories and RL, I don't think I could.
So, is the Horcrux ring, the One Ring? That would certainly be an interesting twist.
As for the difference between groups, I think the group in the movie was a bit smaller, but it's been awhile since I've read the books or seen the movies. I do remember that Sam, Merry, and Pippin aren't anywhere near the council in the book, but obviously they'd have to be there for the reading.

Hm ... that would actually be a way to connect these completely different universes. It's hard to do that in a believable way. But do you think Ron would survive without chocolate frogs? Ha, yes, I can see the use of wizards in Helm's Deep. When that stupid Uruk ran at the wall with its bomb, one of the wizards could rip it out of its hand magically and throw it back into the Orc's ranks. Much better. And I think Elladan and Elrohir weren't really at the Council, but if they were included - if someone takes this challenge up - I'd be so happy Hm, and I could see Patronusses work against the Nazgul, seeing that they are rather similar to Dementors.

The council can be from the books or the movies, whichever is easier to write.
I had this whole scene in my head of Harry recognising the One Ring as Saurons horcrux and finding out that one of the DA has betrayed him by giving away forbidden knowledge. (I always thought Zach Smith) Of course, once banished, the bond between them is severed, and he either becomes mortal, or withers away before their eyes...
One would think that perhaps a century or two of life would cause Ron to grow up, but if not, perhaps they have a bottomless, everfull bag of chocolate frogs. Writing the councils reaction to those would be good!
I'm off to Aberystwyth for the graduation of some of my friends today, I really hope someone takes this by the time I get back!

Hm ... I am more inclined to the books, as it is more complete, but I'd include the other two hobbits and, as I said, the sons of Elrond. (Yes, Arwen had older twin brothers). Maybe Hermione has read the books and would know that they have to be there.
Smith was indeed the most problematic member besides Marietta and the one I could see as traitor the easiest. The One Ring might even have been what gave JKR the idea for the Horcruxes, seeing as Sauron put a lot of himself into them.
And the everful bag of chocolate frogs left me snickering. Love that!
Sadly, I know I couldn't write it, so I'll just join your hope that someone takes it up. Though that may be a while, there are so many challenges out there ...
