I've seen a thread about birthdays, but I was wondering if anyone shared a name with the HP cast or characters. It could be either a first name or a last name. I saw online that someone actually had the surname Umbridge. I don't, but how awesome would it be to share a name with a character or a cast member? (:

It would be the height of awesome, but I think my name is a little less than common, so I don't have the same name as any of the cast or characters. Shame really.

Well, my first name is the same as Marge Dursley's name, despite it being a very rare name. That was relatively disturbing when I realized that.

I'm Emma, so you can imagine how happy I am about that, especially since she's my favourite actor or actress! Plus, I get Emma Thompson too! Sadly no actual character names though D:

I don't share my name with any of the cast or characters of HP, but I do share my name with a famous person. Sadly, he's male. I share my name with Sir Jackie Stewart.

I share a surname with Lily's (and Petunia's) maiden name, Evans. I was actually really happy when I read OotP and discovered that because I always wanted to share something with one of the characters.

I share a first name with Angelina Johnson, and my middle name is another word for Black.
Edit - Oh, and my brother's Middle name is James, like Harry's is.

I share my surname with Severus Snape. My cousin's name is Peter, so he shares his name with Pettigrew... shame on him... and my late uncle's name is Gregory, so he shares it with Goyle. Poor, poor uncle Greg...

One of my cousins is called Thomas, so he has a similar name to the name Voldemort was given.

I share neither first name nor last name with any of the characters in the books, any of the actors or, to the best of my knowledge, any translation of the books. I do not have a middle name, which means I couldn't share a middle name with anyone. My initials don't match up either. Nor have I even ever seen my first name, last name or initials used in any Harry Potter fanfic.
That's what you get for having a pretty uncommon Dutch first name (pretty uncommon in the Netherlands, Belgium, etc. for males - extremely rare for females (and I'm one) or in areas where a different language than Dutch is spoken), a last name that's extremely rare even within the Dutch Language Union, which is where the damn thing comes from. (Extremely rare as in, at last check around 2000, there were less than 20 people with my last name in the Netherlands and Belgium combined. Which is, like, 26-28 million people total? Either way, I am quite possibly the only currently living person on earth with my first-name last-name combination. No miracle I avoid using it online whenever possible. XD)

Well, Silenia, being so unique is sometimes still better than sharing your name with 10,000 other people! *waves fondly over to NL - has a very good friend there*

I agree with Kitty Silenia- I dream of having a unique name. OF course I have one of the top 100 baby names, which has been up on the top 100 for years. And my last name isn't exactly uncommon either *Sigh*

I was lucky, my first name is in this spelling rather seldom. Back when I was born, it was a toss-up between two, and the second one became my middle name. Then said middle name got a fashion name - don't ask how many people I know who have it as their first name!

Since the books are set in Britain, I don't share a name with the characters, either. However, the English version of my last name would be "Smith", so there's that... My first name is.... very uncommon. Very, very, very uncommon. So uncommon, that most people get the prononciation wrong - even in Germany. It's very annoying, and over the years I've learned to react to literally dozens of variations of it (even the male ones).

Seems we have a bit more in common - though I like the character my name translates to better than yours . But I know about misspelt name variations *sigh*

Me too. I've been called Ella, Elsa, Emma, but rarely Elfa, until I corrected them enough that it stuck. XD

I like the name Elfa. Besides, our tour guide in Iceland was named Elfa, too, and she was such a sweetie. So no problems remembering it correctly

Sweet of you! So, if you combine the surname Snape with first name Elfa, you get Elfa Snape. XD Now you know my name.
