To any of you that have seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this sounds kind of like the episode where Buffy believes she's really in an institute and that her whole world is a hallucination.

I'm not a big Buffy fan myself...never could get into the show myself.

It is a difficult show to get into for some, my friend never could finish it. However, I'm the type who reads/watches pretty much only fantasy and sci-fi... Every day drama's don't appeal to me at all. So Buffy was a life-saver for me

I'm not much of a tv person myself, but I've been hearing a lot about Buffy. And yeah, I hear you on the fantasy thing. Dramas don't really suit me for the most part

Drama *Shudders* The two drama shows I know that are popular right now are '16 and pregnant' and 'Glee'. Admittedly, I've only seen as much as two episodes of each as I could not stomach anymore... So i can't say much about the latter. But the former annoys me, it's telling 15 year old girls - 'You wanna be on T.V? Just go and stupidly get pregnant and you can be a STAR!'
I'd love to provide proof, but in all honesty, I've blocked the memories from my mind to allow my sanity to return.

Yeah, I loathe those typse of shows, especially the ones with pregnant girls and the "Toddlers and Tiaras" show. I hate that the mothers are pushing their little kids into that sort of thing... just no! It's disgusting!

Toddlers and Tiaras = Setting your child up for a life of thinking she's a princess, only to realize she's not the center of the universe. (Kind of like Dudley really.) I watched a few episodes, thinking it was cute. Then I saw a kid throw a temper-tantrum. Man did that girl have some lungs...

I just hate when parents put their children in the spotlight. It often doesn't end well, you know? There are exceptions, but often times it's a disaster. Fame just doesn't mix well with children. I think the only reason Harry didn't get an inflated ego was because the Dursleys treated him so poorly.

It's always nice to see the silver lining, that's for sure. Of course, I'd prefer a balance between the two, rather then a ego or a self-loathing (Not to say Harry was self-loathing. My theory is that his year of love and care from his parents kept him from becoming to depressed from lack of TLC).

I feel that Harry has a bit of a guilt complex myself, but that comes from the War, plus the deaths of both Cedric and Sirius. The Dursleys did probably do some damage, though. I mean, one doesn't simply hear that their worthless for most of their childhood without it staying with them.

Agreed. Those stupid Dursleys... *Mutters many highly unladylike things about those wretched beings...*

I can't stand those types of shows. I hate it when parents treat 4 year olds as if they're teens. It's just setting them for disappointment.
