Voldy Reading The Books?

How do you like RtBs where Voldy is involved in the reading? I personally feel like he becomes way OOC.

It's really not rational that his heart would just melt and he'd be all oh Harry!
And how awkward would it be even if he did? I mean he still has to sit through an entire series of very blatant Voldy hate.

Is it just me?

I agree that his heart wouldn't just melt. Honestly, I like to humanize all the characters, including Voldie. I do think that deep deep deep down, he might pity Harry at first, then come to respect him. Though that doesn't mean Voldemort would turn out good or anything. I still expect him to be evil and hateful, just with a better understanding of Harry.

Well I can see the appeal of a humanized Voldy. I mean who wants to write a heartless bastard who stays a heartless bastard through all the shit Harry goes through? But it either happens too quick or it goes to far. Voldy's crossed a line don't you think? He tried to kill Harry when he was a baby. How much compassion can he honestly have?

Not a lot. I can agree with you there. I just like reading a Voldemort that can be a little understanding of what he reads. I doubt he'd truly change for the better, especially having to read his failings. He's a proud man, after all.

But, I do like that he does have a bit of care for Nagini. I know it's just because she's a horcrux and his pet, but sometimes I wonder if that means there are hidden depths to him. Then again, it's probably best not to think too deeply on it. He's still a monster.

A Tom Riddle I can understand showing some compassion especially before that first kill.

I've read that fact before, but yeah, it's pretty neat. If they had been the same snake in the book, that would have been even cooler.

A Tom Riddle before his first kill might be a good choice. I could see that making a good Voldie Reads.

And it would make for a good Voldy reads. Also it could lead to him fixing his mistakes and taking over the wizarding world.

Exactly! Or maybe Tom might not tread down that path in the first place, and try to find something more meaningful? I'm not too hopeful on that, but it would be fun to read.

I'm rather sceptical. The man is so far gone down the dark road that it woud take more than reading books to redeem him - at least when he's from the first war or later. And it would give him too much leverage over the light side.

But a young Tom, before he discovered the Chamber? Possibly. He was human at that point, after all.

There's a Tom Riddle RtB I'm really enjoying at the moment. It's by Marwana. She's on the second book but it hasn't been updated in a little while *pouts*. It's also a Dramione, without Draco actually being there, and no Ron-bashing (he's not there either but Hermone's attempted relationship with him is mentioned), and I think it will be a Tomarry.

Well that sounds curious. It's rare you find Hermionie ending up with some else and there not be any Ron bashing. The Ron bashing is always over the top too.

I also really hate when they skip over Dumbles explanation of what Ron saw in the Mirror of Erised or cast it in a negative light.

Always? Krum was a superstar hitting on the girl he liked. I'd get jealous too. And I doubt Hermione wasted time with Mclaggen for anyother reason than to get Ron jealous.

Ron was fairly narrow-minded to begin with, thinking that Harry had the good life, with fame and money, but I think he matured eventually, realising that Harry also had a megalomaniac after his blood and ended up nearly dying at the end of every year.

I actually like Marwana's story. Tom doesn't have any horcruxes yet but he's still the cold hearted Slytherin who doesn't give a damn about what happens to other people. But he's changing slowly his mind about spliting his soul being a good idea so it's far more believable then just sudden change of heart.

I would love to read a RtB where Voldemort is the good guy, by that I mean Dumbledore is in actuality responsible for the Potter's murder and framed it on Voldemort and has been manipulating the light side into believing he is good when in reality Voldemort is good, or that Dumbledore somehow forced Tom Riddle into insanity. I'm thinking of trying my hand at this type of story where Dumbledore somehow forced him to split his soul and then stored the pieces in objects and hid them from Voldemort as it is impossible to completely destroy a soul. Then when Voldemort gets his body back in the 4th book or after Harry expells him from his mind in the 5th book it somehow restores Voldemort's sanity or at least makes a good start then the books arrive for Voldemort, good Malfoy's, Sev, trio etc. to read exposing Dumbledore.

Who knows when I would get the story written though so anyone who wants to take these ideas and run with them are welcome to
