I personally loathe the pairing. It's just so...awful. I mean, the man murdered Harry's parents and its because of him that Sirius died. Never mind the fact that he's 70 or so years old, and that he constantly tries to kill Harry. But, I know that some people like it.
Your thoughts?
I also wanted to point out that I find Voldemort's obsession with Harry rather disturbing. I mean, how messed up is it that an elderly spirit/person/snake-creature is obsessed with a teenage boy? I know he only wants to kill Harry, but sometimes I feel a bit too awkward about it. I really need to stay away from M-rated fics for a while...
I mean, just watch this clip from the movie...
Again, I need to stay far far away from M-rated fics for a while. Excuse me while I get the brain bleach.

Ugh. All I can say is that just seeing that pairing in the summary sends me running for the hills. Way too disturbing for me to consider. I want to keep my food down, thank you very much.

The pairing itself doesn't really bother me, though I'm actually partial to ones where Harry's his grandson.
I suppose it doesn't really bother me because I tend to avoid all fics that have sex scenes in them; they always end up reading like the scenes in so-called "romance" novels. I like the snark and arguments that this pairing tends to have. I do enjoy reading about the ways that the authors try and work out why they fall in love. I know I read one where Harry goes back in time and falls in love with Tom, and wonders if the reason he had been attracted to Ginny was because of the possibility that remnants of Tom's soul and magic remained within her.
I agree though, Voldemort is way too obsessed with Harry in the books/movie.
...Now that I think about it, are we including timetravel in this topic, or is this just talking about older Voldie? Because he called himself Voldemort early on, so sometimes the pairings may say Harry/Voldemort, but end up being Harry/Tom. If we are talking about older Voldie only, then I like the grandson Harry idea far more than the pairing.

I'm purely talking about Harry/Voldemort. I don't mind a Harry/Tom fic myself.  Grandfather is an interesting idea... and the creepy thing is that it's more believable to me than Dumbledore being his grandfather... Or maybe I'm just saying that because I really REALLY hate Dumbledore. |

How could I not. it was such the perfect opportunity  But really, I don't know what to think of this particular pairing. It mostly depends on if you are talking about a sexual or just a friend relationship. |

Um, for me its the sexual/romantic bits that bother me. Friendship is fine, and so is familial, but I draw the line at romance/sex. I'm sorry, but NO!!!!!!

At least with a friendship or familial setting, it is "somewhat" feasible, if not enitirely so.

Yeah. I've read good ones where Voldemort takes Harry under his wing. Those can be quite enjoyable.
But I do not approve of Voldie/Harry nastiness. >=o

I know before the whole "Harry is a Horcrux" thing, a lot of fanfic writers would make Harry Voldemort's grandson because of the parslemouth thing, and the fact that they supposedly look alike. |

It does make sense that people would think that Harry and Tom were related because of that Animikokala. Hell even I thought that they were somehow descended from the same bloodline.

Same although I can see him also conceding to the fact that it would also be more of a motive for killing his parents. He killed his own parents after all, so why not his own children and grandchildren if he didn't think that they lived up to his expectations?
