A PTSD riddled Ministry Six (Harry, Neville, Ginny, Luna, Ron and Hermione) seek therapy after one incident too many at either work or home. Can a reading of certain books ease the pain or will it only seek to make it worse?
*Note: I am not in anyway an expert on PTSD. All I know is that after the war, most of the students who fought would have needed some sort of therapy after either killing someone in self-defense or carrying their dead friend out of the line of fire.

Oh dear.... this reminds me of the thread from earlier. Is that where you got the idea? *is curious*

Actually, yes and no. Ideas flow in and out of my head often; that thread just cemented the idea and then I ran from there. *hopes no one is mad*

Why should we be mad? I'm sure that some points we were discussing here will show up in one story or another. That's how it should be. I mean, it's not stealing a whole story, just driving a point home, or putting more weight on something because the discussion made us realise that there's a problem or whatever. It just helps you to see things more clear.

I might want to take a crack at this...not sure yet. I already have so many things I'm trying to catch up on...
But this idea is brilliant!

If I did do it, I'd also be as realistic about abuse, neglect and other situations as possible... it wouldn't be a happy story at all.

Well, I could manage that. All of them should have some level of PTSD, given what they've been through.

Yeah. *wants to hug everyone in that group*
Harry: really long list that, if mentioned, would take years to complete
Ron: DoM battle, all the battles for Hogwarts sixth and seventh year, watching Fred die in front of him, horcrux hunt
Hermione: Malfoy Manor, Horcrux Hunt, DoM battle, Watching Fred die, Battle for Hogwarts
Ginny: DoM battle, Chamber, Battle for Hogwarts (plus Sixth year)
Neville: DoM battle, Battle for Hogwarts (plus his seventh year)
Luna: Watching her mum die at the age of nine!

And don't forget that she was also kidnapped... and the torment she dealt with from her fellow Ravenclaws.

True *nods* And Neville had the sorting hat put on fire while he was wearing it. That probably wasn't fun.

*winces* No, I bet not. Oh man...writing Harry is going to probably be the hardest since his list is so long. I do like the idea of the others defending him for a change. If I did this, though, it would be a little AU because all of them would wind up as teachers for Hogwarts instead of working at the Ministry. Would that bother you?

No not at all. I always thought it was strange that Harry wanted to be an Auror after fifth year, when he proved that he was a better professor than Umbridge (not a hard bar to clear but yeah.) Also, why would he want all that trouble? He never had a childhood because of Death Eaters and him hunting them down, why would he make that a career? Hermione, I always saw as a professor and we all know that Neville's one. Luna, Ron and Ginny are the only three that I wouldn't place instantly as teachers but if you're taking the challenge, then go on with it.

Well here is how I view them teaching:
Harry: Defense Against the Dark Arts. Harry shows a high promise for this through out the series, and it would probably teach better classes than even Remus could.
Ron and Ginny: Joint Quidditch coaches and flying instructors. They're both great flyers and decent Quidditch players. Plus, it'll be safer with two eyes watching instead of one... *cough* First Year flying lessons *cough*
Neville: Herbology, of course. It's his best subject and something he probably has a passion for. I also see him as Gryffindor Head of House because he's a bit...softer than Harry is.
Luna: Ancient Runes. I know she comes across as "weird" and "spacey", but I can see her successfully pulling this class off. I see her as Ravenclaw's quirky Head of House as well, and probably a good one.
Hermione: History of Magic. She's very bright and would be able to make the class tolerable again. I also see her as Minerva's Deputy.

Cool. Cool, cool, cool. But Ron and Ginny as joint Quidditch coaches? With their tempers? Remember sixth year? I see Ron as more of a Divination professor, but that's just me. Remember all the times Ron was right when he was joking? "Wrestling a troll" "Maybe [Riddle] murdered Myrtle" "You're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it" He also predicted that Harry would win the Tournament (though he didn't predict the whole 'Dark Lord coming back and killing Cedric in front of Harry). That's just me, though. Everything else is good

Hm, Divination Professor... maybe. He could discover that he does have a deep-rooted gift, I think...
Sure, why not?

While I'll try not to bash Dumbledore, there will be a lot of anger directed at him.

That is fair. Dumbledore does have a lot to answer to, even if he is dead.

Post by kumainpink on Jul 21, 2012 21:11:28 GMT -5
Yep. I'll be as fair as I can to him, but all you'll probably get is a gray bit on him... mostly because some of his actions are dark to me.

Really, in what way? I can understand the blood wards could be a little dark due to it being blood related.

I'm the kind of person who loathes that Dumbledore left Harry at the Dursleys, and I'm suspicious as to weather the Blood Wards are really effective.
Then there's the hint that Dumbledore let Harry and friends deal with Quirrelmort First Year...
And not to mention the Horcrux/Harry Gambit. He took far too many risks with everyone, especially Harry.
I'm one of his biggest detractors, but I'll do my best to keep from making him evil.

Oh, don't worry. I'm not exactly his biggest fan after he revealed that he knew what the Dursley's were doing. It's just, I don't like bashing. Manipulative, that's fine. Just no evil Dumbledore or Super Harry.

First of all... NO SUPER HARRY! NO! NO! NO! *shivers* I hate reading that most of the time!
Evil Dumbledore, I don't mind as much, but I didn't plan on making him evil. Just manipulative and ignorant of his actions.
