"Ah, I see. Well that's a shame." Maxwell said, before taking a bite of his sandwich. Hm...who knew that a plebeian thing like ham and cheese could taste good?

Alice unwrapped her sandwich with care as she listened to the two talk. She shifted her leg slightly below her, to feel someone's leg beside hers. She ignored it however to jump in to the conversation.
"You edit? So do I, though my job is mostly clerical and of posters and diagrams and such! I wanted to go into Healing, but it's not an option at the moment," said Alice. "I'm sure you'd get an opportunity to write something soon. What kind of articles do you write?"

"I'm amazed we haven't crossed paths, since we both do editing," I said, truly shocked that I hadn't even seen her until today. "I thought about being a Healer myself, but since large quantities of blood make me quesy, I ruled it out," I chuckled ruefully. "And with writing, I write a little bit of this and a little of that. Anything that catches my fancy really, whether it be news, or more mundane things like advice on how to maintain your broomstick. But do you really think I would have a chance?"

"I've always been interested in the body and the way it functions. It's all like a well-oiled machine, and fixing it and trying to identify the problem has always caught my interest. There are so many ways to harm the body that you can't even imagine it," chattered Alice. "And I'm certain you make a good writer, though I'd have to read some of your work. I'm not too much of an expert, but I love to read. I'm sure though you have talent, any one with passion is sure to develop a talent to suit their passion."
Alice took a bite of her sandwich, amazed at how good egg salad could taste after not eating since yesterday late afternoon.

I nodded along with Alice's words. The last part made logical sense, so much so that I didn't even know why I hadn't thought of it myself. I grinned that someone could be so supportive, then went about trying to dab off the ink from my parchment.

Maxwell found that he enjoyed listening to their chatter, and the annoyance he felt with being forced to sit beside Violet had vanished - he'd been honest with Alice about having started to avoid most people in general. Not counting the occasional seductress after a good bout of drinking, of course. Every man needs to fulfill an urge or two, after all.
"I think that both of you have what it takes to move on up in this crazy world. All you have to do is succeed." he smiled at them, though his gaze drifted a bit toward Alice. "If either of you ever need someone with good, political clout, feel free to call upon my services."

The other girl seemd to be happy and went back to her work. Alice took a sip of her tea. Pleased to have said the right thing for Violet, Alice turned to Maxwell to hear his kind words.
"Thank you for the tea, it's just lovely on a day like this! After all your kindness today, I hope that I'll be able to pay you soon, and not just with a cafe visit together. As for your offer, I wouldn't want to trouble you to much, I've already taken up so much of your time today," said Alice with a smile, though once again she was conscious of his gaze. "How's your son by the way? I somewhat remember him during my school years. He was a year below me I think."

My heart fluttered again at his words and smile, but it wasn't quite the same feeling as the last time. "Why thank you for the offer Mr. Rosebane, if I feel the need, I will most certainly take up your offer," I said, adding to Alice, "And if you need anyone to talk to, just come to my office." I jotted my office floor and number down on a spare bit of parchment and handed it to her.

"Are you leaving already?" asked Alice in surprise, turning from Maxwell. "Here, et me write my details down as well, that way you can find me too."
And so Alice scribbled her details onto some spare parchment she kept in her pocket, handing it to Violet with a large smile.

"Nonsense, Miss Alice. I see no need in repayment! And it wouldn't be a bother in the slightest! I consider it my sworn duty to help those in need." He smiled back at her comfortably. "Ah yes, Brayden. He's doing well, all things considered." he chuckled in amusement at the thought of his son. "He's rather energetic, and devoted to his work, but my moments with him are far from dull." He ate a few more bites of his sandwich and patted his mouth politely. "So, you wish to be a healer someday? Mind if I ask what got you into that particular profession?"

"Yes I must be getting back to work. Thank you for the company, Mr. Rosebane. Hopefully see you again Alice." I nodded to each of them in turn, gathered my things and headed out of the lunchroom to my office, so I could finish up my editing and then start to work on an article that had just popped into my head...

(the color's wrong Kuma)
Alice froze at the new question, and instead gulped her tea, her eyes wide as she tried to remain composed. Nobody knew what her parents had done. Their death had been considered a tragedy and written off. Even when her Care of Magical Creatures professor wrote her recommendation for her job, the topic of how she knew so much about animals was kept under wraps. Nobody knew a thing.
"That is rather noble of you," she began, smiling a fixed smile on her face, much different from her genuine smiles. "Yes, I remember Brayden as being quite the fiesty student. It must be nice to have him by your side."
Gulping a but more tea, she continued, "My parents were rather fascinated with Magicak Creatures and anatomy. I absorbed that trait and love the study of anatomy and rhe magic behind healing. And after my parents death, I wanted to devote myself to helping people for a good cause."
Privately, she added, And make amends for their sins

((Sorry lol. Clicked the wrong one))
Right away, Maxwell had known he'd asked a heavy question. Then again, after reading her file, he'd already known that it would be. Perhaps it was callous, maybe even cruel to dig a bit into old wounds, but sometimes life needed to be this way. He listened to her her intently, focused upon the faltering smile on her face. He waited until she was finished before speaking his mind.
"A noble profession for a noble cause." he replied solemnly. "You have been through many trials, have you not? Losing those close to you isn't easy, and for one so young..." he had a momentary flashback to a time when he was younger, sitting beside a grave. He shook himself of those thoughts, unaware of how small and distant his own voice had sounded. Now was not the time to show such weakness! "I'm sorry for bringing up unpleasant memories, Miss Alice." He looked at his watch. "Merlin's teeth! I was supposed to be at a meeting thirty minutes ago!"

Alice jumped at his last exclamation, before seeing the time. She had been so caught up, letting Mr. Rosebane's words wash over her.
"Oh dear, my lunch break ended ten minutes ago! I do apologize for keeping you, ah, my office is on the fifth floor, but I'm usually in there. Whenever you decide to attend the cafe, please let me know," said Alice, getting up with a start.

Maxwell calmed himself once more, via Occlumency. He smiled at her. "Don't you worry about that. We had a great discussion, and I simply lost track of time." And with that, he also got up. "Have a wonderful day, Miss Alice." And with that, he picked up his lunch bag, threw it away and headed out the door.
Though he was in a hurry to visit Marigold - whom had avoided him yesterday - his thoughts lingered on Alice the whole way. Even though he had plans for her, he couldn't help but find her an interesting young woman. She'd be one to keep when everything was said and done.

(Well, if you want Lucinda can.)
"Why?" Rhea breathed, "What have we done to anger the minsitry?" It did not make sense, how dare they punish her, for being unfortunate enough to have been attacked as a child? It wasn't her fault, not something she could stop. It didn't seem right- they're must be something... wrong.

Lucinda regarded her seriously. "The humans of this world have become callous toward those who are different. It's a question that I cannot answer in full, save for the fact that you and every non-human magical are in terrible danger." She perched upon Rhea's shoulder and trilled as soothingly as she could.
"But you are not alone, my dear. There are many like you caught in this same situation. Some of them I can take you to, if you're interested."

In Rhea's mind it did not click- wasn't this like the long ago war? Hadn't it been because Muggles were... Different? Of course, in the end, Rhea figured that they did not need a sensible reason- they were going to execute half-breeds and magical creatures no matter what...
"Yes... Yes, can you take me to them? I must go, and If I can help others like me, I will."

In less than a minute, they appeared back in the Forbidden Forest. Rhea landed safely on the ground, and Lucinda perched upon her shoulder. "Welcome to the Forbidden Forest. Here, you will find allies among your own kind."

Rhea stumbled as she landed, but quickly regained balance. Slowly she opened her eyes and was amazed to be in the forest that she had always seen from afar, but never entered.
"Where do I go?" She finally asked, looking over at the pheonix on her shoulder.

"For now, you may stay with me if you wish - if that is alright. There are other werewolves who live here - I'm sure that you'll be able to meed them soon enough." She trilled in what she hoped was a comforting tone. "I promise that you will neither be cold nor hungry as long as you're here."

"All...All right then." Everything was huge here, with Rhea's tiny body size she felt like a gnat in an ocean. Vaguely, she wasn't sure if she wanted to meet other werewolves. Half the time they were horrible and picked on her, saying she was too small to be a werewolf, and the other half were snappy and didn't like talking to anyone. Rhea privately wanted to stay with the phoenix- she seemed to be kind, and it felt much safer around such a powerful creature.

Finally I made it to Burger King for some food and it was just my luck to get served by a complete prick.
"Hey babe. What can I do for you?" he asked in a suggestive voice.
"How about you get me a Royale Meal without lettuce before I knock those teeth of yours out?"
"Ooh we have a fiesty one. Give us ya name and number and I might see about getting you some extra source" he added with a leer.
"Ok enough is enough. Give me the food or I use this daggar and gut you out" I snarled in disgust as I pulled said weapon out.
"B..b, but I only wanted a date!" the twerp screeched in a high pitched girly voice.
God I hate this guy, "you didn't want a bloody date, you wanted my body! Now give me the food or I rip your guts out! Oh and give me your name aswell.
"Why kill me if you want my name? It just proves you want me, I'm Derek Dursley by the way."
"Cheers, now I know what to write on your graves in those woods behinds us unless you get MY ORDER!" I shouted at the end. Argh this guy is a total douchbag!
"Alright, here. Take the food and leave me alone, please!" he shouted as he threw my order in my direction. Luckily I managed to catch it otherwise I really would have gone through with my threat. Idiots now a days.

((lol Wings! I like your post! It's so random... )) Lucinda couldn't help the feeling of pride that surged through her, as the werewolf said she wanted to stay with her. But the pride faded in a moment, when she had realized she'd just taken that it was probably out of fear for everything else around. "Of course you may stay in my lodgings. I have a comfortable cave woven from the finest of phoenix magic. Only those I invite may come inside, and you are the only one I give this permission to." She took a good look at the sky. "Unfortunately, if you wish to rest, I will not stay in the cave once we arrive. I have business to take care of with the different creatures that reside here. For now, the Forest is safe, but I don't know how long it shall last." She trilled a small, weary tune. With all the magic she'd used so far, her body was screaming out for a break. But she couldn't rest - not yet. "And if you chose to come with me, my work may take hours. The decision is yours."

Rhea, while she did wish to sit down and think- to get used to things, did not think this would be the best thing she could do. For one, this pheonix has just done her a huge service in informing her of the dangers, and how to stay safe and fight against those dangers. Anyways if she did assist the pheonix, then perhaps she would have a chance to learn more. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to get to know other creatures- it might to Rhea some good in the end, to be well connected.
Rhea had never been one to sit in the sidelines anyway, had she not been a werewolf, she would have gone on to do much more useful things then store keeping- healing was a particular interest of Rhea's, though being a Auror had it's perks too...
"If you don't mind, I'd love to come along and asisst you in your work. It's the least I could do."

"Very well. I hope you don't mind if I perch on your shoulder for a while. I've used a large amount of my magic today, and need a little time for recovery." Lucinda replied, feeling more pleased than she had reason to be. She closed her eyes for a moment and found what felt like Kei's magic. "If you head straight for a short while, we should come across the one I need to speak to."

"No trouble," Rhea replied, to both requests. She hesitated for a second, trying to pear through the trees, but it was hard to see far through the forest so she took a deep breath and followed the Pheonix's instructions.
"If you don't mind mine asking, Who are you looking for?"
(Shall I bring in Kei?)
