"Ah, thank you," said Alice, as the lady zipped up the dress.
She stepped out of the fitting room and admired herself in the mirror. It did look lovely. The dress hugged her waist, and her hair fell around her. She wasn't sure though. Uncertainly she began to look for her someone to provide an opinion as the sales-lady cooed over all the dresses.

"Another three dress robes!" the same saleslady said brightly, popping in. "Oh dearie, that is so pretty on you!" she cooed, looking at the girl. "You're a vision, darling! Oh, and Ms. Yaxley said that you should model for Mr. Rosebane while she continues to pick out clothes for you!"
And with that, the second sales lady exited again.

Model?! How was she to do that?
"Ah, do you know where he is?" she askee nervously.

"I believe he's sitting out near the dressing rooms, waiting for you." said the other sales lady. "Ms. Yaxley insisted that he wait there if 'he knows what's good for him'."

Alice nervously made her way out of the dressing room to the waiting area. She wondered what he'd say. As she approachedhim in the sitting room, she noticed he had a cup of coffee. She smiled, glad to see he was relaxing.
"Can I get a cup too?" she asked brightly, trying to spell away the blush threatening to rise on her cheeks.

"Of course." he said placidly. "All you have to do is snap your fingers, and it'll appear - just like in my limo. Many of the higher-class places have these sort of charms. It's a way of keeping the rich feeling more important than they really are." he gave her a self-depreciating smile. "Just think of your perfect cup, and it'll come to you."
He couldn't help but notice the outfit she was trying on. "You look lovely, by the way."

"Thank you," said Alice, twirling around. "I'll grab a cup when I'm done changing. I don't want to spill anything. Do you mind if I show you the outfits Ms. Cassie picked? They all look lovely and I can't choose."
She admired herself in the mirror for a few seconds. She couldn't help but adore the soft material and feather light weight of the robes. The sash around her waist made her look even more petite. She couldn't help but bite her lower lip in worry as she considered the price.

Maxwell gave her his best, lazy smile. "Of course. It's better than waiting for Cassalina to come with my own clothes." He sipped the last of his coffee. I can't wait to see what Cassalina picked out for her.

"Thank you!" she beamed back at him. With that she returned to the dressing room and switched into the emerald green dress. She couldn't help but notice how well it complimented her pale skin. She dress robe was shorter than she was used to, and the sleeves long. It fit snugly.
She stepped out into the seating area, and noticed a man with his wife. She felt slightly uncomfortable when she caught the man staring, and walked towards Maxwell uneasily.
"How does this one look?"

"Simply beautiful." Maxwell said, genuinely impressed. "I'm no fashion expert, but Emerald is definitely your color." If Maxwell were honest with himself, he would have said "irresistibly sexy" but he refused to accept those thoughts. No, he wouldn't linger on how the snug dress robe fit her like a dream, or how it accentuated all of her best assets.

"You think so?" asked Alice as she twirled around. It felt nice to think that a man like Maxwell saw her as beautiful. He must see so many pretty women. "Let me try the next one on. Ms. Cassie's picked out several. I saw a lovely white one, I'll try that on."
With a smile, Alice headed back to the room, passing the old man who was grumpily glaring in Maxwell's direction. Glad his stare was off of her, she moved back into the fitting room and tried on the white dress. It seemed like every dress she tried on was replaced by three more!
The white one was a shimmery lacy robe. It hung lower on her breasts, with a corset shape. The lace design continued down until her knees, where the robe ended. It was sleeveless, and had a slight poof to the skirt. It felt like something a ballerina might wear. The back was tied with a silver ribbon.
This time she stepped out of the change room she saw the lady whispering some kind of argument to her husband, and then stopping to look at her. Blushing Alice hurried past the two towards Maxwell.
"Er, is this too much?" she asked nervously. (completely referencing his dream )

(( Haha, I can see that )) Maxwell's jaw almost dropped. While the dress itself was slightly different, she greatly resembled the Alice from his dream. The only thing missing was the veil to hide her face. White suited her so perfectly, even better than the green. In this white dress robe, she appeared the picture of purity. He snapped himself out of his thoughts and smiled at her. "You look divine, Alice. Though maybe it isn't something you should wear every day." He chuckled a little. "You're getting quite a few stares."

Alice turned a bright red at his claim.
"It's just the dress," said Alice, "It's lovely. But a bit too much, I'll try on the gold robe."
With that she stumbled back into the dressing room and switched out. The sales lady adamantly added the dress to the buy pile, where to Alice's dismay, most of the dresses were ending up. She pulled on the red dress, and found herself staring.
The dress itself was rather simple, but it was incredibly sheer in certain places. All over the sleeves, neck area and collarbone, and breast area. The dress was backless and while still formal, felt like a gown rather than an everyday dress. It had a slight bead design over the darker fabric area down across the breasts and down to the knee area, but it felt all too grown up for her. What had Ms. Cassie been thinking?
She stepped out uneasily, despite the sales-lady's insistance that it was the latest style and looked simply marvellous. This time as she approached Maxwell, she stopped and turned when the sales-lady called out after her. She had returned with a psir of high-heels, insisting it completed the look. Alice pulled them on politely, and stumbled to Maxwell.

He took a moment to consider it. The dark dress suited her as well, but it didn't have the same effect as the dress robes before it. It suited Alice's features well, but it didn't seem to be her. "I think it looks great on you," he said, trying to be polite. "But it doesn't suit your personality. I'd expect Veronica to wear something like that."

"Yeah, it's a bit much. Is Ms. Cassie putting everything off the racks in my dressing room?" she asked as another sales-lady ran by with several dress robes, all in Alice's size. "Why don't you pick a color, I can never narrow down my choices."

"She's finished for the most part." The saleslady said pleasantly. "Ms. Yaxley told me that she wants you to meet her toward the back. She has something she wants to show you immediately. And if you want me to pick a color, I suggest red, green and purple. Those colors will bring out your best features."

"Purple then," said Alice, "I haven't tried that on yet."
With a smile to Maxwell, she followed the sales-lady to Ms. Cassie, wondering what was in store for her now.

Cassalina waited for Alice to come in the back. She hated to bring something like this up now, but figured it was best to get it out of the way. At the moment, she was standing in front of the formal wears section, where only black and white dress robes were. In her hands, she held a small, rectangular box. In it was something that would be hard to give away.
"Here she is, Ms. Boot." said the saleslady, smiling. "Call me if you need anything.
Cassalina nodded once. "Thank you."
She then looked to Alice. "There is something important we must discuss."

"What's the matter?" asked Alice, surprised. She stared at the box in surprise. What was going on?

"Because you are both Maxwell's ally and a member of my household, your dynamic in the political world has changed quite a bit." She handed Alice the box. "Inside this is the symbol of the Yaxley family. It once belonged to my mother, and now I give it to you." Cassalina offered her a reassuring smile. "Please, try it on."

"A-Are you sure? I mean, I-I'm just m-me, nobody important as such, do you really want t-to give me t-this? I mean, it's an h-heirloom, a-are you sure?" asked Alice, a hopeful look in her eye. Did this mean she really belonged somewhere? She thought she'd never find a place for herself, and now, she was being offered one. Was it real?

"Of course I am sure." Cassalina replied kindly, touched by how much it seemed to mean to her. She grabbed hold of her necklace and showed her what was hanging off it. "Inside this box is a piece of petrified rowan wood. It is simple at best, but is a physical representation of my family's legacy. As long as you wear it, you will be considered to be a member of the Yaxley household."

"I'm ho-honored, where do I wear it?" asked Alice, as she looked at Cassalina's own symbol in awe. She was trembling all over as she stared at the stick. It just didn't seem real. Why would anyone take her under their wing? Especially after the trouble she'd been to them!

"Wear it around your neck, proudly, for all to see." Cassalina told her. "Octavius wears his as an earring - all of the men do. And while I give this to you out of a desire to welcome you to my home, it is also for your own protection." she paused thoughtfully. "Tell me, Alice, what is your blood purity?"

"Pure-blood, I think, my great-grandmother was a half-blood or a muggle-born," she explained as she tried to remember her family tree better. "I'll wear it as a necklace, thank you. You have no idea how much this means to me."
Her eyes shone, and to her surprise, had gotten slightly wet with tears.

Cassalina placed a sympathetic hand on her shoulder. "Weather you are pure-blood, half, or even barely any at all, you are associated with us. And with some of the more traditional pure-blood laws, wearing this will keep others from trying to snap you up." She frowned, as the next part wouldn't be nearly as kind. "As of now, the Rosebane name - though only one remains - is the most powerful in pure-blood society. Because of this, many of the old blood will will come, at least to see if Maxwell is up to par."
She met Alice's gaze, staring at her with serious, hard eyes. "If they find weakness in one of us, they'll view our group as weak. If that happens, our cause and everything we worked for, will be for nothing."

"I understand," said Alice determinedly. She would not fail! She would make Cassalina proud! "But what do you mean by snap me up? Do you mean they'd attaxk me if I looked weak? What sort of things do I need to look out for?"
|

"They wouldn't just attack you - they'd try to make you fall under their control." she removed her hand. "As far as you're concerned, if you weren't a pure-blood before, you are now. And for the upcoming funeral, you must dress respectfully. These robes are what one wears to such an event. Pick the one that suits you best. The better dressed you are, the more confident you shall appear."

Alice nodded. While it sounded rather complicated, Ms. Cassie knew best. As she looked upon the wood, she was awed.
"Do I wear black for mourning? Or one of the many you selected dor me?" asked Alice, eying the black robes apprehensively.

"You must wear black, and one personal color. This color has no real importance outside of showing a small piece of your personality. Those who see it will judge differently, and gain a small measure of you as a person." She showed Alice her own black robe, trimmed with lime-green. "This is mine. Something tasteful and simple. You may pick something more complex if you like, so long as it is one personal color with the black."
