Paralympics start on Wednesday 29th August 2012 for 12 days in 21 events. Unlike the Olympics, BBC (UK channel) is not showing the Paralympics, but Channel 4, even then they are showing highlights. If BBC can show coverage of the normal olympics, why would they not show coverage of paralympics. Please see the following website: www.london2012.com/paralympics/sports/check which country and sport to follow.

It kind of annoys me that channel 4 has it, because they do adverts pretty much every 10 minutes, and that is not what the Olympics is about.

I found it irritating that they rather have able bodied sportsman than people with disabilities (all ages and different disabilities).

I don't think it's for that reason that the bbc don't have it, I think that the Olympic organisers didn't think it was fair for one broadcaster to have the monopoly on the games. It wouldn't really be fair if the Bbc just had everything.

It wouldn't really be fair if the Bbc just had everything. Very true. Plus if the BBC did have the Paralympics, they wouldn't really be able to show anything else, and their scheduled programmes would have to be delayed, possibly annoying the viewers who don't want to watch sports.

It did get VERY annoying when we couldnt watch anything except sports. Great at first, but there's only so much you can watch.

I could not believe that BBC can't be bothered to show the paralympics and left it to Chanel 4. the organizers said that we wanted to show the world that a disability does not stop you from doing what you dream of and there is nothing wrong with having a disability, if this is true then why are the paralympics being treated as second rate TV. As someone who has a parent with a Disability it take great offense to what the BBC have done by not showing the Parlympics.

What the Hell are they, it might not be so bad if all the colours were there but two of them are even missing, not having the Olympic rings is like saying OK we will humor you but you are not real athletes, god that makes me mad.

When I read that article, it also states at some point in the future that both the IOA and the IPA will merge. I don't think that it will happen for the foreseeable future. There will be people on both sides saying that's not fair.
I just read one of the TV listings, and Channel 4 are not just showing highlights, but showing actual events from 9.15am to 10.30pm, with obvious ad breaks. 3 hours of which are devoted to other programmes - News, Deal or No Deal, Come Dine With Me, The Simpsons and Hollyoaks. There are the red button to see over events.
At BBC it was from 6.00am to about 1.00am with Olympic Breakfast, then the actual events, then highlights.
