Witch Hunt Character Profiles and Rules

Take a stroll into the world of Role-play, and enter the years of the 14th century. The Witch Hunt is beginning, and for the first time, Wizards are beginning to feel ostracized. As the Royal family Saxony decides to take matters into their own hands and eradicate the problem once and for all. Wizarding leader Henry Tailor decides it's time for his own kind to band together to save themselves. What will happen now? Will King James succeed in getting rid of the wizard problem after all? Will the wizarding community survive?

There is no limit to how many characters you can make, so long as you write in third person. Ancestors to Pure-blood families are welcome, but remember, they currently live among muggles. Please try and keep with the spirit of the RP, and remember women wouldn't use swords, but would fence or maybe use a small dagger.

Some rules from that time can be bent, such as language and instruments, but stick to a medieval outlook. No God-modding. The Discussion page hasn't been opened, but it's being discussed here:

If you're interested in playing a canon character, the ones available are the Founders. The only stipulation is they must be between the ages of 9-12. Hogwarts won't open until the end of the war when the Founders have grown up.

Family History: Lives with her mother, father and two sisters and one brother. The family are not as vicious as other wizards, and prefer not to attack or kill muggles without reason. Annalise was taught magic by her mother, and her father taught her defensive and attacking techniques, as he believed that he wouldnt be able to father a son, and Annalise was the eldest. They live surrounded by muggles, and get along with them well.
Abilities: She is a natural healer, and incredibly talented when it comes to making the sick better and coming up with new healing spells. She is not very good at fighting, despite her parents best efforts.

Family History: Joseph Herdman was born to a rich, upper class family. His father and mother did not bother with him, seeing him as their way of carrying on the family name, and he was instead forced to look after himself. His father made his money in land, and married his mother not through choice, but because her father offered him a lot of money. As a result, it is a very cold and lonely household, and this means that Joseph spends most of his time away from his family.

Family History: After Caterina was born, her mother was killed by muggles who caught her practising witchcraft. Cat's father was able to escape with her to a new town, where they started over, being much more careful this time. He is a sensible man, and only practises witchcraft inside the house. After a while it becam apparent that Cat has no magical abilities.nWhile it is customary to kill any children that turn out to be squibs, Caterina's father saw her as the only link left to Rosemary, her mother, so hid her away. Caterina resented the fact that the muggles killed her mother, so began coming up with a plan in which she could get her revenge.
Abilities: Caterina is very cunning, and is determined to get her revenge. She is also reasonably skilled with a knife, which she began practicing with whilst hidden away. She is adept at blending in with muggles and making them like her- she is very pretty and charismatic, with admirers among the men.
Other: Caterina plans to infiltrate the muggles and become a spy should a war arise.

Appearance: Blonde hair that rests on his shoulders. A full beard, wrinkles around his face, and kind grey eyes. He's tall at 6'3, and is well-tanned from riding. He wears luxurious items as King, and always carries a jeweled sword at his hilt. He wears a golden band around his head symbolizing his royal status, and a crown on special occasions.

Family History: The Saxony Family has been ruling Britian for years. A proud, aristocratic family, they have slowly expanded the kingdom of Briton, building their navies, strengthening the armies. Politically they are well-respected, and well loved by their citizens. Saxony has always followed the Church. The sons become knights or priests, and the daughters are arranged to marry or become nuns.

Following tradition, James studied hard as a boy, since he was the only son and child. He learnt sword-fighting, military tactics, leadership, law, languages, and arithmetics. He fought in his first war at the age of fifteen on Spanish soil. Upon returning, his father died in an unfortunate accident while hunting.

James ascended the throne at 16 when his father passed, and asides from the capture of Scotland eighteen years ago, and an almost-war with France, his rule has been peaceful. He married his first wife, Eleanor of Patridge. They had several children together before she passed away from a fever. They had five children in total. Heart broken, James devoted himseld to becoming a better king.

Personality: James is calm. He analyzes everything, and is very decisive. He's stubborn, and will follow his word to the end. He's not very witty, and doesn't have much of a humor. However, he's eloquent and kind. He'll do anything for his kingdom. He's a good father, but can't interact well with young kids, so he's a bit distant.

Name: Henry Tailor

Age: 30

Appearance: Tanned, lean and tall. He has cropped brown hair, and a crooked nose from a bar brawl. Along his arm is an old scar. He wears loose airy tunics and hose with comfy boots usually, and dresses much like a peasant. All he carries is his violin on his back.

Occupation: Works as a musician in the muggle world, but is actually a well-known scholar on muggles and amongst Wizards. He enjoys talking to a variety of people, and will assume the mantle of first Wizarding Leader on his quest to save Wizards.

Family History: Henry was born to the Tailors, a loving pure-blood couple. They were very well-known, and held much influence. They let their only son do as he pleased, and he in turn loved them. The two passed away when he was seventeen. They were murdered by the muggles in a nearby village who suspected them of witch craft. Henry survived by running away using the only famly broomstick.

Devastated, Henry began travelling as a musician to make money, and learning more about people.

Personality: He's charming, funny and a bit odd. He's a great listener, and most people find him inspiring. He's great with words, and is musical. He tends to seem easily distracted and often avoids sensitive topics with jokes.

Other: Is set to be married to Thomas Tubridy, a wizard. He doesn't know that she's a muggle and she doesn't know that he's a wizard as they've never heard of one another before. He saved her Father in battle, got the title of Sir and an arranged marrage to her.

Appearance: Aelesia is a tall woman, about 5' 8". Her hair is a dark red and goes to the middle of her back, complimented by Aelesia's blue eyes. She is slight in build, but she's in shape and fairly strong due to her work with the bow and riding.

Family History:

Aelesia is a daughter of King James Saxony and Queen Eleanor or Patridge. She is named after her mother and an Aunt of hers. Aelesia never showed any interest in any men, and preferred activities such as hunting and horseback riding to more lady-like activities. As a result, she was set to become a nun when she was 13 and has been living with the Sisters in a nearby Convent. She took her temporary vows the day she turned 18.

Despite her religious upbringing though, Aelesia never really took to the idea of God or reading the bible. She goes through the motions for the sake of her family and sisters at the convent, but doesn't put to much effort into it and is often chastised for not reading into the Bible enough, and for spending so much time with other activities.

Abilities: Aelesia is an accomplished archer and horseback rider.
Personality: Aelesia was never one for sitting quietly at home and doing the sewing. She preferred to get up and take a ride on her horse and do some shooting. However, Aelesia always loved her family and made friends fairly easily. So, When Aelesia was sent to the convent, she went respectfully despite her misgiving toward the faith in order to please her father. She quickly became friendly with the Sisters of the convent, so she always wants to please them.

Aelesia also has a strong sense of justice, and won't stand for watching someone get hurt- so she'll want in on the war, to do her part and protect her people. In particular, Aelesia enjoys little children and if someone hurt a child in front of her, they'd better hope she doesn't have her bow on her. Despite this, Aelesia isn't very good at hand-to-hand combat, having never learned it, so she is only good at fighting from a distance. Aelesia is a sucker for romance, but never saw the attraction in men- if the right woman ever came along though, Aelesia wouldn't miss the chance and would gladly escape the convent to pursue such a relationship.

Appearance: Wavy brown hair, big brown eyes, and tanned skin. She has freckles along her face, and is shorter than normal at 5'1. She's got round cheeks, and a wide smile. She dresses in simple whites and browns, and keeps her long hair tied back, however strands always seem to be coming loose.

Family History: She lives in a farm with her brothers. They pretend to live a normal muggle life, and live on the outskirts of town. Amelia was born as the youngest child to a family with three boys. Her father's first wife was a muggle, and bore him three sons.
Amelia was the last child born, and odd things seemed to happen around her.. When she discovered she was a witch at eight years old, the village hedge-witch told her and began training her with a wand in secret.Later the hedge-witch was stoned to death, and Amelia's education was halted. She now lives with her family on the farm, helping raise her sister-in-law's children and her father treasures his daughter, unaware she's a witch.

Abilities: She can do small magic, and a few healing potions, but not much more. She's an excellent singer.
Personality: She's very sweet-tempered, and loves her family. However, she tends to be secretive and shy, and she's not able to open up easily in fear. She doesn't think she'll ever belong anywhere, and cries herself to sleep about this fact. She lives in constant fear of being exposed. She's never met people outside of the small village, and has very few friends. Amelia loves to read, and doesn't understand politics well.

Appearance: Rylan is strong from years working on a farm and tall, at 6' 2”. His curly brunette hair is a bit long and goes to just under his ears. He has plain brown eyes that match is hair. On Rylan's left knee is a distorted, off center and almost upside down QF. This is from the brand they use on their cattle, when Rylan was 6 it fell on him when he ran into the table it was rested on.

Family History: The Quakesten family is not very rich, but is fairly known for raising good children, and for their farm with some of the best tasting beef around. Rylan is the middle child of five. His eldest sister, Mary, is currently 23 was married to a traveling merchant. Giselle is his second sister, and she is 22, married to a blacksmith in the same village. Younger then him is Victoria and Kaitlin- 15 year old twins who their mother, also named Victoria, died giving birth to. Erik, their father, remarried another woman not 3 months named Felicia who was only 25 to take care of the children, who were 0,0, 2, 7 and 8 at the time. Felicia has added to the family three children- Heather who is currently 6, Patricia, age 5 and the youngest is Grace- only 2 years p;d/

Due to being the only male in the family, Rylan works hard on the farm, and all of his sisters have had to pitch in at some point, mostly working on the plants rather then the animals as he did. Rylan is also the heir to inherit the farm when his father passes.
Abilities: Rylan is a fair horseback rider, and is very good with the sword- a skill that his father has taught him over the years, as his Father's uncle was an blacksmith who enjoyed working with the sword.
Personality: Rylan is a kind and practical fellow. As the only male in his family, he is fairly good with the ladies, and would treat a wife very well. Rylan is also very responsible and able to care for himself. He isn't very intelligent though, when it comes to literature and mathematics, not for lack of intellgence, rather because he was never taught much more then the little his step-mother could. Felicia did teach him well in manners, and in basic mathematics and reading though.

Appearance: Wavy brown hair, a dimple in his chin, and bright brown eyes. He has coppery skin and a few scars litter his fingers and arms. His hands are heavily calloused. He's tall and muscular.

When he was three years old, his father tried to buy a potion to make him stronger from a witch. Unfortunately, his father was duped, and instead was put under a spell and gave away all the family jewelry, after taking the potion, and the potion's side effects included impotency.
Personality: He's a loud, funny guy, who loves life. Everything excites him. He seeks Out adventure and often goes with the crowd mentality. He'd extremely protective of his younger sister, having been closest in age with her. However, he despises witches since his father was cheated by one many years ago, just after Amelia's birth, thus losing the family jewellry, and becoming impotent in the bargain.

Abilities:She havea no magical ability she knows how to wotk with a short bladded dagger. Good at taking care of minor wounds.

Personality:She's very careful with everything she does, she likes things neat, and likes them in the right place. She dispises the wizarding world because of the way her family treated her, and wants revenge.

Appearance: Jacob is tall like his father, 6' 4”, he is also a burly man with muscles. Curly blond locks go down to his shoulders and are accompanied by blue eyes.

Family History:

As the first born of Queen Eleanor of Patridge and King James, Jacob is ensured that he will be a king one day. As he grew up, Jacob was taught by tutors in academics, and had mentors in horseback riding and sword fighting. With the birth of each of his siblings, Jacob proved himself a kind older brother who enjoyed teasing his siblings occasionally. When Jacob's mother died when he was 15, Jacob considered himself grown from boyhood. He then proceeded to meet other princesses and found interest in Lady Denise Winston, who was 16 when Jacob was 17. The two courted for two years until Denise was older, and then they were wed.

In the seven years of marriage with Denise, who Jacob loves dearly and couldn't imagine anyone else ruling by his side, they have had three children- first a girl, named Elise, who is currently 6. After that came Jacobson's heir- Isaiah (5). Lastly was Bailie (2). Denise is currently pregnant with a fourth child. They've also had two children who died before their tenth day (Bennet and Juliet).
Abilities: Jacobson is one of the best Swordsman around, having been taught by masters of the art since he was 5. He is also fairly accomplished in academics such as geology, politics and mathematics. Horseback riding isn't something he's expert at, but he can do it without making a fool of himself and often does for recreation.
Personality: Jacob is the type of king who is kind to his people, and will give his live to protect them. He gives his full support to his father's hunt against the Witch's, believing them to be dangerous. The prince is also an excellent father and brother, the type that his siblings and children would go to for help. However, Jacob is a bit rash and over estimates himself, thinking himself able to slay witch's with ease. He doesn't normally think things through, something his wife, Denise, has had to remind him to do over the years.

Name: Jacquelyn Theresa Carmichael.
Age: 18.
Appearance: Jacquelyn has long, black hair, which reaches to her lower back. It’s mostly up in a fancy hairstyle, which tells about her heritage. Jacquelyn has sharp ice blue eyes, and her face is a bit pointed. She can’t be called beautiful, but she’s pretty enough. Jacquelyn wears only elegant, expensive dresses and robes, which tells of her status, but she loves to wear normal pants, but it’s just not seen very well on.

Occupation: None, as she lives of her family’s fortune, but resides in King James’ castle, where the most of her family members live.
Family History: Jacquelyn is the middle of three sisters. She has an older sister, Lady Miriam, and a younger sister, Lady Sophia. They were born to Lord Frederick and his wife, Lady Vivian.

The sisters were a disappointment to their parents, who had prayed for a son, since their first baby, a boy, died, three days after birth. The titles and heritages would then be passed on to Edward’s nephew, Sir John.

The girls were taught to act like the nobles, as they were, but they were reminded often of their parents’ disappointment with them. Although they were a disappointment, Miriam became quickly her parents’ favorite, as she was the most beautiful of the sisters, and they could see a great marriage come out of it. Miriam married a Duke in France, and moved away. Jacquelyn and Sophia miss her dearly.

Abilities: Jacquelyn is capable of etiquette's, and knows all about them. She taught herself in secret to read and to math, but that was it. She’s capable of handling a dagger, but is much better to shoot arrows.
Personality: Jacquelyn is fiery and passionate, and hates being chained in the etiquettes, and dreams of running away on adventures, especially with a man. She’s clever, and lives in her own world, is very carefree, close to being naïve, but she knows the reality, and has adapted to it, and tries to live.
Other: Jacquelyn once had a much older lover, a peasant, who taught her to use a dagger and shoot with arrows. They met in secret, when she was sixteen year old, and it was sweet love. Unfortunately Edward discovered it, and had the peasant killed.

Jacquelyn is newly engaged with a noble, whom she despises, as he's cruel.

Name: Byron Wade
Age: 27
Appearance: Cold grey ices, bald head and smooth shaved. He wears elegant black clothing, or grey. He's always got a dagger in his boot, and a sword on his hip.

Occupation: Trainer for the Castle Guards, and later the Witch Hunters
Family History: Byron grew up in a lonely home. He was abused severely as a child by his maid, who doubled as a doctor for his mother. The maid was a witch, intent to pursue her studies on live subject. She practiced curses on Byron, including a rather nasty one she invented called the Cruciatus. When Byron turned sixteen, he had her burned at the stake since his mother passed and he inherited his lands.

Ever since, Byron has a huge mistrust for witches and women. In general, he hates women, though he has no sexual attraction to males. He enjoys watching them scream, and will kill witches on site, or torture them. He trained himself to become the best knight in the King's Army, and while he isn't the general, is well respected and reverred by all swordsmen for his impressive skills, including the ability to fight with two swords at once.

Abilities: Fencing, two-sword fighting, archery, hand-to hand combat, Reading, writing

Personality: Cold, callous and uncaring, he is feared by those below him. He keeps to himself, and knows how to play the political game. He gets angry easily with women, and enjoys watching them scream. It's rumored he's abusive to women he beds, but nothing was ever proven.

[Chameleon]

Name: Alexander Frederick James Saxony.
Age: 23.
Appearance: Alexander is tall and burly like his father and brother, and has light brown hair, which reaches to his chin, along with stubble's. He has gray eyes. He wears expensive clothes, which matches his status, and has always a sword at his hilt, which has saved his life several times.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Straight.

Occupation: He’s a Prince and a Knight.

Family History:
Alexander was born as the second child of King James and Queen Eleanor. He was taught to read and write, fight and ride, like any prince should. Alexander was never a very studiously man, and had a very relaxed attitude toward it, although he loved to train and fight.

He partied a lot though, and was seen with a lot of women, nobles and peasants, which angered his family, especially his father.

Alexander met his wife, Lady Claudia, at a party, the King held. The chemistry between them was clear, and Alexander fell in love with her, and they got married six months later, when Alexander and Claudia were 18 years old. A year later Claudia got pregnant, and they were really excited, but unfortunately Claudia and her unborn child died in childbirth, but Alexander did everything he could to prevent Claudia’s death, by ask several wizards about help, but they all refused, and she died. He has never told his family about it, though.

Abilities: Alexander is capable of any kind of fighting, physical or with swords. He’s good at arrows, and loves to race a horse. He’s capable of math, but doesn’t see any use in it, but languages are is forte, as he often travels, and he has therefore learned a few languages.

Personality: Alexander is an easy-going guy, who’s quite cynical. He loves to spar and fight, and is passionate about it. He shares his family’s sight at it, and hates them passionately, as he blames them for Claudia’s death. He’s quite arrogant and prideful, and can sometimes be needed to take a peck down. He’s extremely loyal to his family, and would never betray them.

Name: Sylga Dowdall (Often called Syl)
Age: 19
Appearance: Standing at 5' 7”, Sylga is fairly average in size. She is fairly muscular from her upbringing as a pirate, and also has a fair amount of dirt on her. Sylga dresses in a manner that would have most women gawking and cursing her to be a savage- her pants are that of a small man's and hug her form. Her top isn't much more then basically a bra, though she will occasionally wear a shrug. Her eyes are a gray that are her fathers, and she has short blonde hair that only goes to her shoulder's.

Family History: As pirates don't normally allow women on board, believing them to be bad luck, Sylga has a bit of a story. The pirates of her ship had attacked a village, and the ships Captain, Daniel, had caught a glimpse of Hestia- the beautiful maiden of the town. As a prize, he took Hestia captive. He ignored the men's protests that women were bad luck, as he had never been one for superstition. He told the men that, if there were no peculiar things happening within a week, then Hestia would stay. The crew was uneasy, but the promise of having a lady on board to play with endeared them to the idea.

Hestia was understandably upset with the situation, she was basically a play thing to the crew. However, she was treated quite well outside the sexual acts she was forced to do. Daniel did not allow the crew to mistreat her in the morning, and they weren't brutal in sex. After a week of nothing happening, they decided to keep her, and she was able to deal with the situation. Hestia was taught how to use a sword and became a fair pirate and less of a play thing. Then, Hestia became pregnant. Everyone was sure it was Daniel's- Daniel was Hestia's most frequent lover, and by this point the others had grown bored of her. It helped that once the baby was born, it had Daniel's gray eyes. How odd it was for a baby to be born on a pirate ship, but Sylga did quite well. Whenever a battle occurred, Hestia would now stay deep within the vessel and keep the child occupied. The whole crew quite liked the little girl, and would not allow harm to come to her.

Sylga grew up quite boyish, and very good with the sword. Daniel and the crew all taught her, and Hestia gave her lessons on any girl related issues Sylga may have. Unfortunately, Hestia died when Sylga was 10. Sylga was devastated, but she was close to her father and Daniel was quite supportive. Three years later, by the time Sylga was 15, she was... definitely becoming a woman. The crew were beginning to notice her more as a woman then as the awkward little girl they all enjoyed. Daniel told the crew, that anyone who wanted to court his daughter would have to beat him in a sword fight. Which was great, as he was the best swordsman on the boat. Despite this, a year later a 29 year old man by the name of Jasper defeated him. Because of this, Sylga is basically betrothed to Jasper. Jasper has said that the day Sylga turns 20, he will take her as his in a... wedding of sorts. (Very small, on the ship. They won't be bothering with a priest.) Right now, Sylga and Jasper are quite friendly, and she is ready to be his wife in the next year (It will be in three months.)
Abilities: Sylga is very good with the sword and can take most people in a fight, including her fiance. She is also very good with the throwing daggers, something she enjoys practicing on the boat as it rocks. Growing up in the wealthy bit of China, Mayleen is the second youngest of eight children. Her elder six siblings are all girls, and her younger sibling is the only male in the family. He is the last child for a reason, as Mayleen's father had only wanted a boy.

Once he got his boy, Mayleen's father, Qiang, became bored and weary of his plentiful daughters. The eldest, Cai was drafted the responsibility of caring for her brother, the second girl, Jiao became the housekeeper so to speak and the third, Sakura was given medical detail in the household. After that, none of the daughters were any 'use'. Their mother was a bit dim, more of a trophy wife, and wasn't about to step in. So Qiang decided that, as the business man he was, he would make use of the extra children he had. When Mayleen was four, she was hired out to another family as a servant. There she learned to clean, sew, work with basic health problems and be quick on her feet. Mayleen also became good at being sneaky and staying hidden, as no servant was to make a spectacle of themselves. There she worked for four years, under the care of the elder servants. There, she also met one particular servant woman from Europe who owned only one thing; a violin. The woman, named Yvette, had traveled from Europe to avoid persecution as a witch and soon took an interest in young Mayleen. Yvette would take the girl under her wing and teach her the things she knew, Yvette was the household nurse, so Mayleen learned much medicine from her along with her beginning of magical instruction.

Mayleen also learned Violin and of her love for music from Yvette. The woman would give lessons when they had spare time, and Mayleen showed she had much skill for the instrument, by the time she turned 8 she was very good.

However, when she did turn 8, Yvette passed away. Mayleen then became exposed to the horrible nature of the household that Yvette had in fact been sheltering her from; such as how the master of the house liked to fool around with his servants. Mayleen was too young, but she became aware that her future seemed bleak. What did she do then? She ran away.

Mayleen was on the run for three months, then she ran into a man. This man was named Wei, and he was very interested in the girl who seemed to be able to disappear whenever she wanted to; melt into the background. He had much fun working to track her down, when he did he told her of the emperor's secret espionage work. He told her that she had great promise at the job, and offered to take her in as a student. Not sure what else to do, Mayleen agreed.

Over the next few years, Mayleen proved her worth as a spy. She was exceptional at combat and very good at disguising herself with glamours and charms. Not to mention the girls' knack at musical instruments which lent itself well to secret identities as well as her ability to disappear into the shadows. As she grew, so did her skills and she became a valuable member of the Emperor's intelligence officers. Due to this, she has been given her third mission; first big one. Go to Europe and gain Intel on the possible witch hunts, and don't die in the process.

Abilities: Mayleen can play Violin, Cello and Piano, though she is much better with the former two instruments. She can also perform seamstress duties from her years as a servant, and can play as a nurse from her years under Yvette and the training as an agent she was given. The girl is also wonderful at hand to hand combat, with or without a weapon. She has trouble handling big swords or maces, preferring small daggers. Lastly, Mayleen has a knack for hiding and being very stealthy, which translates into her ability to perform stealth related charms. Ever since she was little she has been trying to learn how to do an invisibility charm, and she is on the verge of being able to do so.

Personality: Raised in the way she was, Mayleen is very closed off to people. She is quick and precise, always quick on her feet while on the job. As she comes across as drowning in her work, Mayleen has no close friends, but not for lack of a want for one. She simply has trouble connecting and developing the trust needed for a friendship to work. Despite this, when Mayleen does get close to someone, she lets her guard down around them. Mayleen can be very, very clumsy when she isn't focused on a job and often runs into things or trips.
