"They wouldn't find out, surely?" Joshua asked. It sounded so sad, how she was scared of her family finding out about her true self...

"I don't know," admitted Amelia, "When I was younger and unnatural things happened, they used to be worried I was cursed. My father especially. But then it stopped and they forgot about it over time. That's only because I gained control. But, I can't live like this forever, lying to them! Eventually I'll marry someone they choose, and then what, do I spend my entire life lying?"

"I guess." Joshua sighed. "I wish there was something I could do to help."

"Thank you," said Amelia with a soft smile, "But I don't really think there is. I mean, the only way girls my age avoid marriage early on is if they work for someone, but I've never had that opportunity."

"I could see if anybody is hiring, I guess." Joshua sighed. "But I don't think anybody is."

"Thank you though, really," said Amelia with a smile, "I'll figure it out eventually. Somehow, I think I'll just end up running away, though where to, I still don't know."

"I really hope it doesn't come to that." Joshua frowned. "That would be really dangerous."

"I'm not sure yet," lied Amelia, twisting her hair and not meeting Joshua;s eyes, "Especially since I don't know where to go."

"If it gets that bad, you can come and stay at mine." Joahua grinned. "Although heaven knows what your brothers would say!"

"To think, I'm the Earl's son's best friend," said Amelia wryly, "Well, it's rather late, and I should get some sleep, what about you?"

"I'm the same." Joshua sighed. "The maids will gossip, and the maids gossiping never leads to good things. I'll see you soon!"

"Goodbye!" called out Amelia, as the two exitef the barn. She continued to wave to Joshua until he was out of sight, and then entered her home to a grumpy Robby and an ecstatic Vicky. Dodging the both of them, Amelia headed to bed, preparing herself for the next morning.

Joshua sighed as he let himself back into his house and was met by his father.
"Joshua, I want you to join the witch hunters." his father said without preamble, and Joshua's heart sank.
"Yes, father." he sighed, before excusing himself. He decided to visit the woods the next day... after all, it might be the last time he could do it before joining the witch hunters. He could even bring his sword and practise!
On that more positive thought, Joshua went to bed.

Amelia awoke the next morning with a bright smile on her face. The fact that she had actually shared her witch-secret with someone made her heart spin and she couldn't believe someone would actually care for her despite her horrible affliction. Her curse, as her father had once whispered to his mother. They'd been so worried back then that she was cursed. If they had ever found out the truth... She shuddered, and shook away the thought.
Rather, Amelia pulled on a light, yellow sun dress. It was a bit too long, considering it had once been Vicky's, but it made Amelia feel womanly and grown up. Her brown curls were tied back and she was at work in the kitchen, laughing at the twins as she rolled out the dough to make bread. Vicky was napping as usual, and her mother had gone to the markets. Her brother's were at work in the farm.

Joshua knocked on Amelia's door, frowning. It wasn't fair, what her brother had planned, and he didn't want her going into this completely unaware. Knowing and not telling her would be almost as bad as what her brother was doing.
He just hoped that she believed him...

Amelia went to the door, thinking it would be a brother of hers. Her arms were covered in flour, and a some was even on her face as she opened the door. To her delight and embarrassment, it was Joshua. She smiled widely at him, though blushing as well.
"Joshua!" she said brightly, "Come inside, I didn't know if you were coming today. Sorry about the mess, I'm trying to make some bread."

"Sure," said Amelia brightly, "Come in. Vicky's asleep, so we have to keep Kenny and Benny busy, but they're just rolling the dough, so it shouldn't be too much trouble. How was your morning?"

"Oh yeah, he's signing up for the Witch Hunters," said Amelia, a frown appearing on her face as she began to play with the dough, "I suppose you were too, then?"

"Yes. My father gave his orders, I had no choice." Joshua shrugged. "Robby was right behind me in the queue, talking to his friend. They didn't know I was there, and they were talking about you."

Amelia was startled by the sudden topic. She glanced at Joshua in surprise, confused as to why Robby would be discussing her with a friend of his. Which friend of his would he talk about her too?
"Are you sure it was me?" Asked Amelia, doubtful of the idea, "I'm hardly someone Robby would talk about to a friend of his. Are you positive?"

"Yes, I'm completely sure." Joshua bit his lip before continuing, deciding it would just be easier to say it. "Robby has managed to convince his friend to marry you, and they were planning the ways that he could woo you s that you agree to marry him.'
Joshua spoke quickly, and then waited tentatively for Amelia's reaction.

Amelia stared at Joshua as though he had gone mad. Her eyes widened and her mouth stretched to form a little 'o' shape. She was fairly obvious as she turned a bright red in reaction. The room was silent now, except for the twins cheerily rolling a dough ball, unaware of Amelia's shock. She collapsed into a chair, her breath leaving her in utter shock as she did.
"A-Are you sure?" She squeaked, not believing it, "They had to be joking! Robby-marriage-not possible! Why?! Who!? What?!"

"I think Robby is worried about you ending up with somebody he doesn't approve of, and I know the other boys name began with an R, but I cannot remember it." Joshua sat down in the chair next to Amelia, looking right at her. "Are you okay?"

"R-R, damn Robby for having so many friends!" Muttered Amelia, as she tried to consider what kind of man Robby would have picked. "Has he gone insane!? Do you know what they were planning?"

Rylan rolled his eyes at Robby's continual enthusiasm. "Yes, I'm sure you do." He responded as the two approached Robby's home.

"They werent being very clear." Joshua shrugged. "But your brother was talking about all the things his friend should do to get on your good side, and was trying to plan how to make you like him the whole time I was listening."
