So far? No. But then, it's not easy to do and you do get a lot of false starts... which, honestly, is like regular dating. It really depends on what you're going for, what you do to make sure you're not getting yourself into trouble and traveling. At the moment, since I have no job or anything, I have been off the dating scene. Telling you... well. Like I said, it depends. Also, some sites are better than others.

Yeah, I think they're ok, pretty simplistic. Just remember some rules about online dating... you do know them, right?
I've also used Okcupid... they're free too. I dunno if they cover your area though. No matter what though, good luck!

*snorts* No meeting? Then how will dating progress? No meeting right away, sure, but you still will want to meet at some point. No, when you do meet, make sure it's in a public place and that you have someone on standby to help, while not actually being around in view. Like have them just call you at a certain time, and you can have two phrases to use: one is for you wanting to get out of this and not continue dating this guy, and the other is that you're good and will continue.

Never done anything like that, but I'd use the same rules I used with people from online boards I did meet over the years: First take time to talk (the best way to get to know someone is talking by way of some online messenger, IMO), to get to know the other a bit to see if you think you could get along. Don't give out your exact address or phone number right away. Only meet if you feel good about the other, and a public place can't hurt.

Ah, yeah, there we go. Yeah. What Kitty said.
Thanks Kitty! I've met a number of folks from online, from MMOs mostly too!

With some precautionary measures, it can be fun, can't it? When I joined my first HP board back in 2002, I found some good friends. It started with PMs, later moved onto AIM, and then to meeting in person. With about half of them I am still in contact and meet occasionally. There was only one I absolutely refused to meet, though he was the most insistent, but I never trusted him. Too curious about my private life and a horrible whiner, too.
Later on, I ended up at an American Tolkien board, and found some more friends. With the only one living even remotely close (Netherlands), I've meet already twice and it was great. Maybe we go together to Australia one day to meet with a third one, who knows?
But all of these happened only after literally hundreds of hours of talking, so I was reasonably sure they were what they said they were and that we would get along.

Yeah... I've done it through MMOs mostly though... Some things just take time, ja?

Yeah ... I've only met two friends I met online. Never been doing online dating, but maybe someday far, far away in the future ... And where I don't live in Faroe Islands. There isn't online dating here, and since we don't have many people living here...
My two friends I only met when I was sure .. Had seen them on web-cam and talked with them for years, practically. I'm still in contact with these two. I've met them ... three times, I think. These two girls I talked about met each other online too, and now they're best friends. Visit each other often, and yeah.

Good for you. Sometimes these online friendships can lead to something so much more, one just needs to be a bit cautious at first. But it's great that you got to meet them and that you ended up good friends with them.

Yeah. I love them. I've known them since I was a twelve-thirteen year old girl. On that time I was pretty insane, but I've luckily matured quite much.

For right now I think real life is difficult enough without virtual heartbreakers as wells
