Just read an article about a couple naming their newborn Hashtag in honour of Twitter.
Seriously this is why you should have to pass a test before you are allowed to procreate. Naming children ridiculous names like this should be grounds for child abuse because the poor child's parents clearly hate her.

I read about that story!
My mum gets some brilliant names, she runs a preschool. Honestly, I don't understand why people think its okay to name their children things like that.

Yeah, sometimes you have to wonder. Here the government agency that is responsible for birth certificates and the like only allows names that are listed in name books or similar sources. I know there were people who fought in court for naming their kids strange names like 'Nemo' (after the fish in that movie) or Pumuckl, after a kobold (some sort of pixie, not sure if the meaning is known in English?) in a children's book series. Or Galadriel after the elf in Lord of the Rings. That has to be awkward for the kid, even though it's not as bad as some other names. Hashtag, really? What are these people thinking??

My sister has a friend called Merlin. I thought that was awesome. I don't think he agrees though.

Oh right, completely forgot about that because I only use his online name - one of my online acquaintances is named Merlin, too. Again, interesting name, but I sometimes wonder if that sort of name causes certain expectations not every child can and wants to meet.

Could be worse Chardonay, Prada or whatever idiotic names celebrities have decided to inflict upon their offspring.
I just don't understand it myself, if you like those names so much change your own and stop tormenting your children. They are asking for their kids to be picked on.

I agree. I remember a case a few years ago where parents lost custody of their daughter because they'd named her 'Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii', not even kidding. It's pretty insane.

I agree it's ridiculous what these brainless twits name their kids. Some celebrity named their kid Apple... Although I don't think any name can beat that Talula one Jaffa.

Yeah, no matter if there's something to the abuse and neglect charges - the names alone would cause me serious doubts! The first names aren't so much of a problem, but the rest of them ... ugh.
Isn't it sad when the court has to take custody away to give that poor girl a chance to change that stupid name? I'd really like to force the parents to switch with their daughter and show them how embarrassing that is!

My friend and I are joking and bugging our other friend that when she has kids in the future, they better be twins (a boy and a girl) and that she should totally call them Kathleen and Douglas.
ordinary names? maybe. but it's their nicknames that will be awesome! just imagine calling for them and yelling, "Kat! Doug! Come here, you two!" LOL XD

I'm sure that I mentioned a woman shouting the names of her kids out whilst we were shopping a few months back. Harry & Hermione, well it's only recently that we found out that their last name was actually Potter and the middles names were James & Lily.

They clearly weren't. It's celebrities giving their children weird names that is behind this.

Preferably something that goes well with King or Queen. We really don't want to be calling a future monarch by something ridiculous.

My mom works at a labor and delivery room in the city. She gets pretty insane names, "Jesus", "God", "Satan", every curse word imaginable, "Polyester" (last name sheets), My personal favorites were these twins - Orangale and Lemongalo... spelled Orange Jello and Lemon Jello. Poor kids.

Further proof that you should have to pass a test before you can procreate. Though quite frankly anyone who names their child like this should automatically be disqualified.

OMG!! We have a stalker! Someones written a fic on FF.NET about a GWL twin with Harry and they've only gone and called the girl Calla Lily Potter.
Do they not realize that Calla IS Lily? Calling the kid Lily Lily Potter is sooo not cool!!

true. I'm thinking of the name Alexander George and Calla Celilia if I ever have kids. George is a Phillips family tradition so I thought I might aswell do one for the Lennons.

My name for my first boy had been picked out for awhile now, Alexander (Xander for short) Rylan. I named Rylan in the RP as a spin-off from my brothers name Ryan, and fell in love with it. Alexander if my other brothers middle name
