Alexander smiled politely at Albert, as he took a deeper sip of the wine, his cup empty now. He sighed heavily as he thought to himself about many things. Realizing a silence had fallen over the two, Alexander gave Albert a crooked smile, "Forgive me. Family always makes me a little nostalgic. So, when should I come by the Auror office to assist in training? Obviously tomorrow isn't possible, what with it being Christmas and all, but I'm available at any time, name your choice!"

"Well, I'll have to speak to John, but I think he'll be interested in sometime the next two weeks." Albert frowned. "We have to give the aurors notice, because some of them have family home from school at the moment."

"Oh I'm sure you'll have an idea of what's right for us," said Alexander with a nod, "But that should fit my schedule perfectly. I have big plans for the first week of January, to test some of my current research. It's part of the reason I'm in need of an assistant. To keep an eye on my other projects whilst I test this one."

"I imagine it must be tricky, doing so much work alone." Albert nodded sympathetically. "But at least you managed to get some time away from that tonight, I suppose."

Alexander laughed at the comment, and nodded as he set his empty goblet down, and glanced at Albert, "The research itself is the best part, but the cleaning up, the frustration, it all drives a man insane. I wish sometimes that I could relax and just pretend I'm not a man for the chase, but I fear a higher order compels me forward. It is my nature to study the secrets of the universe."

"I've never been a fan of cleaning up." Albert chuckled. "But I know what you mean. Sometimes I think everything will have been easier if I would have chosen a less stressful job, but it just wouldn't be me."

Gisele's annoyance disappeared as her face turned mischievous. "Of course, if you ever are planning any naughty deeds, do feel free to give me a call. I'd be simply delighted to assist in your endeavors." After pausing to allow that to sink in, Gisele turned to John without batting an eye lid, as if nothing had occurred.
"My brother's reach name is Periurus, We call him Perry. Don't ask me what our parents were thinking when they named him! Probably hung over on wine, I would say." Inwardly, Gisele imagined how horrified Gellert would be to hear she had introduced him as Perry.

"Sometimes the purpose of life just finds us," said Alexander with a shrug, as he turned to Albert, "Shall we get our audience with the minister and give him our holiday greetings, my friend?"
John gaped at Giselle's openly flirtatious and suggestive behavior. August must have been her father's age! And here she was acting like he was just some boy from school that she could share a tussle with. Shaking his head, John simply nodded at her brother's name, making a note to look into these strange Engel siblings.
"I suppose I must be thankful for my parent's choice in John for a name," said John with a shrug, "I always forget how awful other's can be with their names. A fellow colleague of mine is always complaining his name is a mouthful. But I suppose the name Albus does raise questions as to what they were thinking."

'Thats a good idea." Albert nodded. "I haven't spoken to him tonight. Can you see him?""

August took another sip of his wine, careful not to let any emerge from his lips as the woman's flirtatious nature came out. Honestly, he was horrible around women--it was only because of their families marriage contract that he was married to his wife in the first place.
"Albus may raise questions, but what about August?" he pipped up when the conversation changed toward names. "Honestly, who names their child after a month of the year anyway? And not even a good one!"
It was one of the reasons he had decided to name his child Alice--a nice normal name.

"I never did hear that story," said John with a grin, "How'd they come up with August? My parents named me after an uncle I believe, but August? Do tell me it's not as simple as the month you were born in, is it?"
He laughed casually, reaching a hand through his hair. He hated to leave it down, but it was on his house elf's insistence and his sister's proposal that it made him look more like a Lord. And something about it in style.

"Apparently, the name belonged to my mother's great-great-great-great-great uncle's ostrich," August said with a snort. "My mother loved the ostrich so much that she chose that name for her only child. My father only went along with it because he couldn't think of any other name."
August took another sip of wine and chuckled. "You know, it just so happens that I was born in August."

As the two men spoke, Gisele found herself intrigued. August had mentioned knowing a man named Albus- could is be her brothers' old friend, Albus Dumbledore? While she had never actively assisted her brother in his quest, she still wanted him to be safe, and too keep him safe she sometimes offered small bits of assistance. If she could gain access to Dumbledore, it would be very wonderful.
"My real name is Ivella, Ivy being the shortened version. My mother must have been equally tipsy as when she named my brother!" Gisele rolled her eyes and casually continued, "So this Albus, could it be the illustrious Albus Dumbledore that has been making so many achievements?"

August chuckled in response to Ivy's question. "I do not know of any other wizard named Albus, so it must be. I only wish that I knew him personally."
August wasn't a power hungry wizard but it would be nice if he could say that he knew The Albus Dumbledore. He turned to John.
"What about you John? Have you met the elusive Dumbledore yet?"

"On occasion, we have, yes," said John with a nod, "He's currently begun a teaching position at Hogwarts, Transfiguration I believe. I told him it was a waste of time, since he's a man of greatness, but he simply laughed. His friend Elphias is an old family friend. I know the Doge's quite well, and that's how I met Albus. His younger brother is currently employed at a bar I like to frequent. He's a pleasant fellow, bit odd though. I always feel like I'm missing something in a conversation with him. But then, I suppose that's the truth with any genius. Just look at Dobrev over there, he's got quite a buckle of achievements. I can't help but wonder what men like them think about. Surely not what an ordinary man thinks of."
He smiled at the group, before lifting a simple platter of hors d'oeuvres of. Taking some scampi shrimp, he took a bite, before offering it to the group before him.

Gisele took another sip of her drink as she smiled. "I had the.... honor," she spoke the word carefully, testing it on her tongue. It sounded odd, as she'd never particularly liked Albus- after all, he had hurt Gellert. Gellert was always so cold and, frankly, kind of horrible. However, in his brief time with Albus, his feelings has been true- even if Gellert had always acted upon his brain not his heart, it still had hurt Gellert when it all fell apart and Albus had rejected him. Kicking such thoughts away from her mind, she continued
"Of meeting him once in my youth, he was quite the genius even then and had indulged my young mind by playing a game of chess with me. I actually won, though my brother says he let me- which is probably true."

"You played chess with Dumbledore?" Asked John in surprise. He hadn't pegged such a flirtatious woman to be a confidante of Albus at any point. He already made a mental note to keep track of Perrenius Engel and ask Absrforth about the Engel's someday. His age old paranoia seemed to be acting up again. However, he nodded, and smiled as he added, "I'm sure you must be worth the game. If you're ever interested, I'd be honored to play you."

Taking some of the offered shrimp, August took a bite but then gaped at the young woman as she stated that she beat one of the brightest minds at a game of chess. Why then had he not heard of her before now?
"I've never been one at Chess," August said with a chuckle. "I find it rather embarrassing that my daughter can beat me in twenty moves--twenty-five if she's distracted. I must prefer Gobstones."
He took another bite of shrimp and then took a sip of his wine to help the shrimp go down his throat.

Gisele smiled, "I'd always be interested in playing chess. Wonderful past time," Then she nodded toward August, "Though I'm absolutely dreadful with Gobstones. Played it a couple times, gave up on it."
The women was quite pleased- the men hadn't been too interested in her slight pushing about the boy she met years ago through Gellet. Of course, she would be very much surprised if the not one of the men looked her up and realized who she really was- which she didn't really mind, though she'd prefer to stay anonymous.

"Really? No Gobstones? What a shame," said John with a shrug, quite pleased he'd found a good conversation to join. He took a second shrimp and bit into it, enjoying the flavours before he turned to Giselle and said, "You've missed out on the average English childhood if that'a true. Perhaps if I had more time for it, I would still be a master at the game. So how is everyone spending Christmas Day? I for one, plan to sleep all day and then make myself presentable for a family dinner. How about you two?"

Christmas was a rather awkward day for August ever since Alice turned 15. In the spirit of the season, Mother Nature gave Alice a gift of her own--a gift that always made August wish the girl still had a mother.
"Christmas Day? Oh it'll probably be a quiet affair with me and my daughter," August said, not mentioning the fact that he'd spend a good chunk of time visiting his wife and other children. "My mother will probably force us to join them for dinner--she thinks I don't feed my daughter enough. Says so every time we visit."

"An average English childhood would be dull," Gisele replied, the sly smile returning, "My childhood was much more interesting, not at all dull. Even if it meant the loss of the o' so magnificent Gobstones."
"For Christmas I'll probably go and meet up with my brother, I haven't seen him in far too long as he's been off being a smart arse. Though your plans do sound rather nice. I never take a quiet day for granted, even though I don't like them in large quantities."

"Sounds like we're all spending time with our families," acknowledged John pleasantly. "Your mother sounds like my sister. Always saying I work myself far too much and don't regard my health. Of course, I suppose since I have collapsed once or twice, there may be some truth to that."
------
Alexander nodded to Albert, and pointed at Minister Diggory through the crowd, "Let's make our way over and give him the Yuletide greetings."

Albert finally spotted the minister, and started trying to thread his way through the packed room, exchanging greetings here and there.

"You've collapsed?" Gisele repeating, raising an eyebrow. "Yes... That simply radiates a picture of perfect health!" She retorted, sarcasm leaking into every word as she rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Perhaps your sister is right- you quite need to let off some steam."

August shrugged and took another sip of his drink. "Mother might get along with your sister, John. We should pray that they never meet. We'd never hear the end of it otherwise."
Gisele's words had entered his ears before he had the chance to block them out and Merlin, did he regret that. Let off some steam--that sounded not as innocent as it seemed when it came from her.
