Oh god. Ok, there have been some people over time who put the books online, but not on such a much-frequented site and so obvious. That's beyond stupid! Won't last long, I suppose, before they are taken down.
Edit: Just clicked on the link to look for comments, the "story" is already gone.

Let's hope they don't try to upload it again.
I know that physicssquid said she thought the petition was only for Americans to sign but I was wondering if someone here who isn't from the US has tried signing it just to make sure.

It's beginning to remind me of 'Dinner for one': The same as every year! With everything going on in the world at this time, don't they have something more important to do? It gives me more and more the feeling that the music and movie industry are behind it and keep pushing for it out of fear they could lose a cent of money because they don't have the monoply on everything to do with any franchise.

Actually, going back to the signing of the petition - I'm british and I've signed it (twice, actually - last year and this) Also, last year, my RtB was taken down because I posted a "non story author's note"

I just don't understand how they can do something like this that will affect more than the US. I mean a few days ago I found out there is a thing called Revenge Porn Sites where people take your facebook photos, name, address, email, and phone number and post them in connection with porn. And yet the government can't do a thing about this as it interferes with other countries policies but yet they can interfere with something as stupid as SOPA. It just blows my mind.

Lottie, did you post such an AN or was that just another one of these wrong excuses? Because the RtB story of a friend was taken down because of 'being a songfic' - while there was no song whatsoever.
Melody, who said that anything to do with politics does to make any sense whatsoever? Besides, Facebook users are mostly normal people, so they can be screwed. But if the big industries want something, the politicians will bend over backwards to accommodate them.

No, I actually posted an AN... but still, you'd think that to get to it, they'd read through the rest of the chapters and report it as an RtB before
Maybe they're trying to bring the statistics of stories deleted down so the admins don't realise how popular RtBs are

Revenge porn and doxxing are two different things. They can intersect but they're different Revenge porn is one member of a relationship posting video or pictures of the other naked/sexualised/having sex without the consent of both people involved in them. Sometimes without one party's knowledge. Doxxing is finding out somebody else's real name, address, email etc and posting it online so the doxxed person can be harassed. There are specific instances where this can be OK but they are few and far between (the two I've seen where this was OK one was a rapist and the other there were several young children in an inappropriate living situation). There are situations where they intersect like Hunter Moore (the so called 'king' of revenge porn) but he's been arrested by the FBI Here's a really good story about it (which might even make you feel a little better). His website 'isanyoneup' also included photographs which were photoshopped to be more risqué and ones which were stolen off of people's computers. California, New Jersey and now Georgia have bills criminalising revenge porn. The interesting thing is that the sort of websites which have movies and television shows illegally uploaded to them are not based in the US anyway. *eyetwitch* not that I've checked them out or anything but you will never see a .com or .co.uk address on them. Because they'll get taken down if they're US or UK based. They base themselves somewhere in Eastern Europe, nobody is going to give a crap. However, SOPA is not back. Copyright lobbyists are talking about 'voluntary' commitments. This isn't good exactly, since it replaces laws with shadowy deals and would allow advertising firms & stuff to starve websites but it's also not SOPA.
