I've noticed that a lot of people who were originally R/HR shippers have suddenly changed to H/HR because it's what JK said it should have been. So basically if JK said that Molly WAS manipulative with potions etc then would those that protested suddenly start writing stories for it? Or that Grindlewald & Hitler joined together. The list can go on... Wait, there are people who don't believe that Grindlewald and Hitler teamed up? But-but-but...HISTORY! Dumbledore defeated Grindlewald in 1945 the same year Hitler was defeated. Also, Grindlewald never took over Britain (same with Hitler!). I mean...GAH! I could never be an H/Hr shipper because Harry says in the book that he considers Hermione to be like a sister. Sorry not sorry JKR.

Frankly, I doubt Grindelwald and Hitler teamed up. Two reasons.
1. By 1945 Germany was in a lot of trouble. If Hitler had known about magic, had an alliance with a wizard who had minions, do you really think he wouldn't have used it?
2. Grindelwald's entire premise was that he hated Muggles enough to want to kill or subjugate all of them.
If they did 'team up' it would have been Grindelwald Imperiusing Hitler. I don't think they could have worked together in the slightest. Hitler had too much of an ego (and frankly, towards the end, he was wandering away from the path of mental stability) to work with somebody who had that much more power than he did. And I doubt Grindelwald could have worked with a muggle any more than Voldemort could.
I think Grindelwald was able to use the confusion of what WWII was doing to Europe to build up his own powerbase and to recruit followers based on 'look at what the muggles are doing without somebody to control them' (something which Voldemort may well have done also) but I think he would have stayed well away from Berlin and Hitler. If only because the magical governments were evidently staying away from the conflict - if he got involved obviously, he would have had several magical governments and Dumbledore to worry about.
1945 was not the turning point in WWII, the way it seems to have been for Dumbledore vs Grindelwald. 1945 was more like a concerted curbstomp by the allies. Also, unlike Dumbledore vs Grindelwald, the death of Hitler did not mean the end of the war the way Grindelwald's defeat did.
I think Grindelwald's plan was pretty much 'wait until the muggles have finished killing each other and then take power'.

Yes, yes it was in first year (I think... it was definitely before fourth but I can't be sure). What's worse is that for the first few chapters Ron and Hermione clearly fancied each other, but then Draco had suddenly moved to the Gryffindor table (without any of the Gryffindors talking to him full stop) and in the next chapter Hermione was sitting in Draco's lap and everyone seemed completely fine with it (despite having detested Draco two chapters ago). Very bad writing, then. Leaving aside that I hate that pairing, if you use it, it has to at least make some sense. You can't have them do such a 180 without explaining any reason and to build it up. But Harry doesn't need to have a girlfriend to have parents, right? You are right, RandomPasserby. Grindelwald may have used the whole chaos to his advantage (and the fact that the government was way too busy with the war to bother with the people he killed himself, as long as they were not high ranking Nazi officials), but I doubt he'd have worked with Hitler, for al lthe reasons you already listed. Besides, you have to wonder if Hitler and his henchmen wouldn't have seen the wizards as freaks, the way Vernon and Petunia did, and/or seen them as a threat? You could say their blood is polluted with magic, after all, and we know what they did with anyone not of 'pure' Arian blood.

How about sharing with Moldyshorts? He could use a trauma or two And he'd not take that well, one of his pureblood followers suddenly having a muggleborn girlfriend ...
