They don’t necessarily have to email to everyone individually. They could do the same thing as they did before and set up under google drive. It would be very kind of them to do so.

True, Zardula, but most of these posts are from people who couldn't get to the Google docs and demand to be emailed the stories. Your post above sounds exactly like that, too. And long before someone put some stories on that Google drive, I've already seen tons of posts and PMs from people who think I or someone else could just email them 50 or more stories. Mind you, a lot didn't ever belong to this forum or only signed up to demand stories. So don't be surprised if these requests are ignored; I'm certainly not the only one who is sick and tired of this.

I can’t answer for everyone ok here but I never really thought about how much of a hassle it would be for someone to email all these stories. You do make a good point that this can be annoying and leads to people not responding. What do you think is the best way for someone who wants to read the stories from their favorite authors but can’t?
I have left comments on my favorite authors stories to see if they would like to share them with me since I absolutely love their writing. I don’t think any of us are trying to be malicious in our requests. We are just trying to look any information so that we can keep enjoying the stories and authors we love.
Please do let me know how we can handle this? I really do understand us putting our email expecting someone to just send it to us is quite rude. Looking forward to any suggestions you might have.

Thank you for understanding where I come from. My reaction is not even aimed at you in particular, as you can probably deduct, but the cumulation of many such requests. I even changed the text below my avatar because of it ;-) Still, as you can tell, they keep coming and coming. Some thoughts, addressed not just to you, but others who want stories as well:

The problem is, these stories had to be deleted everywhere due to copyright violations, so it's difficult to post them anywhere, and I am not even certain if people who put them on Google Drive can get into trouble - with that sort of post wasb did, giving many people free access, they could very likely. And by the way, that user hasn't been logged in for over two years already, and many of the original authors and members even longer, so these constant demands for access to the collection or sending per mail are never seen anyway. Too many have left the fandom altogether, I believe. I'm one of the very few who at least look in here now and then. It makes no sense to ask them when they don't come here any more. Look at how few posts have been added over the last year or two - and how many of these are attempts to discuss the Harry Potter books and how many are story demands? It won't work.

Some people have saved stories before the big purges came, but for these the same is true as for wasb's collection: Size is a problem. I've seen wasb's collection, and these were really dozens of stories, often with more than one book done. Now remember that these are usually the whole original book text *plus* comments, which go from repetitive one-liners to rather extensive, depending on story and author. So, you can add a lot of text to that. Even one pdf then can easily add up to a few MB. Multiply that with 50 stories and 2-3 books each and you can imagine how it sounds to people who saved the stories when someone asks them to "send the stories".

So, one way to get something might be to ask for a particular story, instead of these open-ended requests for "the stories". But of course, it's possible that many have, when moving on from the fandom or that type of story, even deleted their collected stories or lost them somehow (computer crashes and the like). So, just because someone said 8 or 10 years ago that they have saved this story or that, it doesn't mean they still have it.

Sorry if that is a bit disappointing, but it's the sad reality, and one too many don't seem to even consider.
