I honestly loathe everything about the Half-Blood Prince. It is written very well, but Harry's sixth year was my least favorite to read about.

I find it interesting how nearly everyone has PoA, OOTP, or DH as their top book. Or if one of them isn't the top, at least one is nearly always in the stop three.

Yeah, I agree... and DH is my top, even if I dislike how it went. After that, they kind of blend in with CoS being my next favorite if only for three chapters in it. HBP to me, was more a prelude to DH, and doesn't really stand out on its own. Though I do like that there was more Ginny in it.

It was hard to decide but DH is my favorite book even though I hated that she killed off so many characters. DH is my favorite for just reading the book by itself and for reading in CR stories. Although for CR stories I think it might be a tie between DH and CoS

1) Deathly Hallows - the last few chapters win the top spot
2) Prisoner of Azkaban - hilarious moments; Harry gets an adult that actually attempts to care for him
3) Chamber of Secrets - because 12 year old Harry willing to fight a monstrous killer snake to save a girl is just adorable and awesome in an "oh my god why the hell are people sending their kids to this school" kind of way
4) Order of the Pheonix - Dumbledore's Army is win, but Sirius dying pulls it down, averaging the score
5) Goblet of Fire - decent amounts of excitement
6) Philosopher's Stone - would be last if HBP didn't exist
7) Half Blood Prince - Harry is an obsessive creepy Malfoy stalker with a "monster in his chest", enough said (not even Harry/Ginny finally getting together could redeem this mess)

2. Goblet of Fire-Epic tournament ending with Voldemort's return
3.Order of the Phoenix-Very rough year for Harry but great character growth and we learn why Voldemort went after Harry
4.Prisoner of Azkaban-So many plot twists and plot lines. Traveling back in time and Sirius
5.Chamber of Secrets and Sorcerer's Stone tied-Both really good. Not as good as the others. Way too short
6. Half-Blood Prince-Did not care for Harry stalking Malfoy even though we knew he was right. Too many memories, too much romance and not enough action

Regarding how poorly Half Blood Prince seems to be among people, I think that's why they added a scene in the movie version. Otherwise, it would've been the dullest Harry Potter film until the very end. Even then, they toned down the Death Eater/Hogwarts battle post-Dumbledore's death.

There's always a part of every book that I love rereading (or for the first ones all the book). In HBP I really like the Felix Felicitis chapter and the one Harry and Ginny get together.
