I would hate to live in the city. I love passing through them, especially at night, or going to places in them, but to live in one would be torture.

I would hate to live in the city. I love passing through them, especially at night, or going to places in them, but to live in one would be torture. Same with me. My favorite close city to visit is Ft. Smith, Arkansas and that is because of all the stuff that is there for me to do. I live a little ways out of my hometown and whenever I spend the night at a friends place the noise disrupts my sleep. Hell, I'll wake up in the middle of the night by the slightest sound.

I've lived in small towns my whole life, all of them have been an hour from any big city. Right now I live in a YWAM (Youth With a Mission) base which is a community living thing, everyone knows everyone and becomes like family. I love small towns and always will. I grew up 19 years in the Sierra Nevadas. I was raised on Southern Gospel, Bluegrass and Country (a little 50's and 60's here and there). I like Pop and other Genres, but you can't leave your roots.

Geesh, I thought you were describing my hometown in Oklahoma just then. We have about 5 mexican food places and two of those grocery stores hidden away in town. The closes thing to a music store is a Wal-Mart and two pawn shops. We have three or four chinese food places here ... all but one of them buffets (the holdout being a Panda somethingorother restaurant), Taco Bell/John, one or two regular Mexican restaurants, and ONE tiny Mexican grocery. Seriously, the place is the size of your average comics shop. We've got a Best Buy in town, aside from Wally's, but really, that's it. And somehow, we manage to support a store that sells musical instruments ... mostly by dint of having a Christian College in town, I think. Otherwise, I've no clue how that thing stays open in this area. I've been to big cities, and they're both a blessing and a curse. Chicago's where I've been, mostly ... gawd, the one library I visited there had my jaw on the floor. NINE floors of books. I was literally drooling. That many books boggled the mind. But at the same time, there's no such thing as Wally's, or K Mart or anything of that stripe. You want cheap, you go to a pawn shop or secondhand store, IF you can find one. Plus, the place is bloody freezing in winter. Word of advice ... NEVER go to Chicago in the wintertime. There is a REASON they call it the Windy City, folks. Get within twenty miles of downtown during winter and you a) get knocked on your ass and b) freeze to death via wind. Seriously.

I picked other, because I really listening to anything and everything. I'm going to the Warped Tour this year and they have a lot of the bands I'm a fan of: Falling in Reverse, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping With Siren, Breathe Carolina, Vampires Everywhere!, Rise to Remain, and Bless the Fall.
So Metal and post-hardcore take up most of my favorites at the moment, but I love Country, Dubstep, Rap/Hiphop, Classic rock, Grunge, Industrial, Alternative, Classical, Hard rock, Pop .... there are really too many to list, so I'll just say everything except Reggae. lol
The only artist that I really hate listening to though is Miley Cyrus >.>
But otherwise I'll give any song a chance and listen to it, which is how I went from only knowing Country.... to Heavy Metal.
lol, long rant there. I'm a music addict and always have something playing while I read or write.

Blue October is my all-time favorite band. Their songs are beautifully written and sung, and the main singer has the ability to rip emotion right out of you. *hearts*

Haven't heard the newest album though, I should remedy that sometime soon.

Yay! A fellow Blue October fan! I love all their songs, but my favorite is Come In Closer. And yes, you must listen to the new album! It has some of the best songs ever on it. I suggest looking up Stay (the feel again) If you haven't already.

I hose other, cause I don't think most people have heard of Mikes Chair, or Tenth Avenue North. Though I bet most people have heard of switchfoot. It's praise music, and it leans more to the pop side but there are all sorts of praise music. Though Starry Night by Chris August has to be my favorite song. Though I do have some clasical, country, and alternative rock on my phone, I much prefer to break the silence with praise music. That and it tends to make bad moods go away.

Very cool Codygotkilled. My husband likes nickleback too. I think that's all he listens to when he goes off roading his bronco. Cause of the bass line.

Hey, if you like Switchfoot you should try listening Kutless. They are a really good Christian rock band that has been around for a decade or so. I would start with their Strong Tower and It Is Well albums first since they are strictly praise albums and not as heavy as the rest of their catalog.

For some strange reason I have been jamming out to Silversun Pickups for the past three days. I blame it on my car radio playing Panic Switch when I went out to eat. Anyone else like the band because they are pretty unique?

The first song I heard of theirs was Hate Me, and that was on Kerrang! and then Stephenie Meyer put a few of them on the playlists for the Twilight Saga and I listened to their other stuff. I think I have all their albums except the latest. Even my mum knows a couple of the songs now. Especially Jump Rope because it's so damn catchy and makes you want to bounce in your seat.

I love celtic music too, I have quite a few cd's. I also like hard rock, classical, soundtracks and some metal. My favorites are Three Days Grace, Disturbed, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Skillet and Linkin Park just to name a few.

Hate me was my first song from them I heard, too. Bonus points for having gone through a horrible break up with my girlfriend at the time. *sniffle* After I heard it, I just had to buy their CD... Something about Justin's voice resonated with me and Foiled For The Last Time was the only CD in my player for quite some time.

Anything and everything, but for right now, my love is Florence and the Machine and the Bird and the Bees. I'm not a huge fan of pop, like, Miley Cyrus, Bieber, and ugh, One Direction. I tend to prefer my music with some kind of meaning to them, besides crappy love songs that make you want to dance like an idiot. However, I do listen to a little Disturbed, for a while I was big into Blink 182 and the Offspring. I listened to a lot of Panic at the Disco and Sex Pistols, never got big into Guns n Roses though. Big time into Queen, the Beatles, never really stopped loving those two.

Florance + the Machine is probably the best "new" band to come out in the last three years. What the Water Gave Me and Seven Devils are still some of the most haunting songs I have ever heard to this day. I also enjoyed the track Heavy in your Arms from the Eclipse soundtrack, still can't believe that song wasn't on the first F+tM album.

I just love Florence and the Machine. No light No light is currently my favorite song by them. Her voice just does such haunting songs so wonderfully. I love What the Water Gave Me as well. I also like Never Let Me Go and Shake it Out.

Totally agree on the suddested withing Pop. Justin Beiber is a douche who doesn't even know what the word German means. Blink 182 was a favourite of mine at one point, my favourite was I Miss You and All The Small Things is still one of my karaoke songs. I prefer Panic's old stuff compared to the last 2 albums. Was much better in my opinion. I seriously suggest Mumford & Sons to anyone, I don't think they get enough love even just in this country let alone anywhere else. Listen to Little Lion Man. Love it, though I know their kind of music isn't for everyone. I can't get enough of the singer's voice. And their songs always give me different fic ideas.

I Miss You was one of my favorites too! I also liked Adam's song and What's my name again a lot too. As for Panic, I never really listened to their new stuff, I mostly preferred their old stuff, I think my favorite by them was either The only difference between martyrdom and suicide is press coverage, and I write sins not tragedies.

Mumford and Sons...*melts* Another great group. I agree Silvertongue, the singer's voice is just so..*melts again*
Has anyone listened to Hurts? I love them! Silver Lining and Mother Nature are particular favorites of mine by them. (Another singer with a great voice!)

Just had this song stuck in my head and thought I would share it here. The band is called Katatonia from and I guess you could call them Gothic Metal. They are from Sweden and have been around since '91 but their sound has made major changes since their early releases.

I've never even listened to that latest one. don't even know what it's called. Muse is bringing out a new album which I'm quite excited about, but I hope it's like their old stuff and not their last album.

Oh god, I LOVE Mumford and Sons! I've only gotten into them lately, but their music is just beautiful.
My all time favourite song is To Build A Home by Cinematic Orchestra, but I've got obsessed with Its Time by Imagine Dragons recently- you know, the one from the new Perks trailer.

I really like the instrumental music from both Lion King and Spirit. They were both done by Hans Zimmer and I could listen to them all day. I think his music really captures the mood of the scenes and I can always picture exactly what is happening while I'm listening (but that might be a by-product of having seen the films so many times).

I love the instrumental music from Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, and the three songs composed by Craig Armstrong for Love Actually, weirdly enough. They just make that film for me.
Leaving Hogwarts turns me to mush every single time.
