I'd love to read the personality profiles. It's just so interesting seeing all the different possible interpretations of the same characters.

I think, I'll post them then.
Some time after the third chapter, probably, since that will be a "non-reading" chapter again.

Great job on the chapter. But perhaps in the future you could add some reference to the chapters, either a couple lines or page reference perhaps so it be a bit easier to follow along and can understand what part they are reading.
But beyond that the commentary was good. ^^

Yes, I thought about doing that. But the problem was that those "couple lines" broke up the commentary so much that it just didn't read fluently anymore. So, I opted to leave them out completely.
I figured that people don't actually need to know where exactly the break occured - just were it would be approximately.
The thing is, I have read a lot of RtB fics where people worked with the "one-line only to show what the comment is about"-thing - and it was always awful.
I guess, I could try around a bit on how to incorporate direct quotes from the book in the story - but I make no promises that it'll work, or even that I'll decide to go with that version. After all, I explicitely took out all direct quotes when I rewrote the chapter (for copyright reasons).
With all the deleting that has been going on lately, I just don't feel safe anymore quoting even one sentence from the book. *sorry*

I think that it reads ok but if someone didn't know the book by heart they would have difficulty with understanding all of the points you make. as the rule on Yourfanfiction say, you can take quote directly from the books as long as you do miss out some lines from each chapter, where the lines don't need to be there. so as long as you follow there policy you do not have to worry about your fic being deleated.

I actually read them all. But: the admins of yourfanfiction.com said themselves that they are currently checking into these rules because of copyright problems with the RtBs. Also: Ultimately, it doesn't matter if they allow it or not. It is (and will always be) piracy and thereby illegal. Because of that: If yourFF does not change their policy soon, the page will be forced to go offline. Hence: I am 100% certain that their policy will be changed soon. Therefore: I will not quote directly from the book. Q.E.D. IMO everyone who actually believes that yourFF will be able to keep going like that is pretty naive. I'm sorry, but that's the way I see it. Maybe I'm just jaded...

do you think it would be possible to keep the books as they are but rewrite them in your own words

Well, aside from being a whole lot of work, I don't think it would make much of a difference.
You would still be copying every essential part of the books (characters, plot, setting) and that would still be considered a copyright infringement.
The only reason why fanfic is considered a grey area is because in it you may use the characters and the setting, but you invent your own plot.

Did read your latest update over on YFF, but reviewing here because I haven't signed up there yet. (Btw, why does your name not show up on the author list? When I go to 'authors' and then to 'I' I can't find you? *is confused*) For me, this format works rather well. After all, I know the books well enough to skip most of the actual book text anyway, so I didn't miss it much. It was just something you need to get used to - no more skipping bolded text Anyway, I like your portrayal of the founders and the hints about their own experiences and opinions you give particularly with what Godric and Salazar say.

Btw, why does your name not show up on the author list? When I go to 'authors' and then to 'I' I can't find you? *is confused* It doesn't? Huh? I'll go ask an admin about it. Thanks for pointing that out to me. For me, this format works rather well. After all, I know the books well enough to skip most of the actual book text anyway, so I didn't miss it much. It was just something you need to get used to - no more skipping bolded text Obviously, you are exactly the target audience I wrote the chapter for. *lol* Anyway, I like your portrayal of the founders and the hints about their own experiences and opinions you give particularly with what Godric and Salazar say. Thank you. I'll keep my promise of publishing my character profiles for the founders at some point. Probably after I finish the next chapter. ;D

It doesn't? Huh? I'll go ask an admin about it. Thanks for pointing that out to me. No, it doesn't, at least not for me. Asking an admin sounds like a good idea. I've had that before, though I forgot who I was looking for then, so there might actually be a problem. And you are welcome! Sounds about right Thank you. I'll keep my promise of publishing my character profiles for the founders at some point. Probably after I finish the next chapter. ;D Good
