Does anyone know how to report profiles on Fanfiction?

Don't report profiles please. Let's not stoop to their level.

Why not use it then?

I actually do not know why they do not have that feature. They could do it so you have to give a reason why someone should be banned and each should be looked at in conjunction with other info. Like if someone had sent in reports using the support email.
But can see it easily being abused, so that could be the reason not have it..

Like the report buttons they've got already are being abused right now?

Kinda, yeah but I would have it a bit more detailed. Like any with "He is an arse" or something like that would be disregarded by the one looking at it. So they would need to be detailed complaints.

Yeah, IMO any reporting should detail the exact reason/chapter/passage they are complaining about, and The Powers That Be should look at them before doing anything. But with FFN, that seems to be wishful thinking.

Yes they are getting a um uppity if you will. And do not mean just the staff but readers to, that it just kills the muse of those writing.

You know, if it was a site where people paid for the account, FFN would be history pretty fast - that's no way to treat customer. Maybe the problem is that the site is too big and they can't really control anything any longer, and now they, to quote a certain Minister, 'need to be seen something'.

That's true. Makes me sort of wish it HAD been a site you had to pay to use just so they could feel the backlash of all this.

Yeah, imagine their faces while hundreds of people pull their accounts out ... *evil grin* They'd backpedal post haste, if you ask me. Oh well, we can at least dream.
We tried to delete our already made shared account for our fic, but it seems not even possible to delete your own account. Don't really understand that, either, as that way there are probably thousands of abandoned accounts - and not all of them with stories still posted.

You can't delete your own account? Siriusly? That's stupid!
Shouldn't the site have a way to back up any fics they delete, somewhere they are stored for a limited amount of time in case someone appeals to them to post it back on and allow them to fix whatever was against the rules, or at least to allow them to have a copy back that they can post elsewhere or keep for themselves.

Funny enough, stories like that one by jo belke or whatever must be reported constantly, and they worm their way back into the system. I mean, if at least a hundred people report a user or story, you'd think FF would have a way to contain those. At the same time stories that are quite popular and well-liked are deleted. I feel like the site has so much potential and it just keeps going around in circles over stupid things. Also, it would be nice if they allowed art work for the stories as well, though they seem to be heading in that direction.
I think they do have a lot of flaws, but I guess it comes with so many stories, fandoms, etc. I'm not boycotting thw site, mostly because its free, but at the same time, I hope they can resolve these issues faster and have a better customer service, I feel like its actually just other users I can rely on for informing me about deletions and etc. I would like to get a reply to my email about the privacy policy someday, but then, I live in hope.

Yeah, or else I am too stupid to find it ... Yeah, they should, but I don't think they bother. I know another website where questionable threads can be moved to the Admin board for decision, invisible for anyone save Admins, and then they can either delete or move it back. And they'd always tell the people what the problem was. Much better than what FFN does. No matter why a story gets deleted, the author should at least get the chance to back it up, seeing as enough people don't do it and just rely on FFN.

One look at the summary and I'm running for the hills. I want to read a story, not guess what it is supposed to say. And they even get parodies made after them - way too much honour. Never understood why such stories are allowed, not with such an atrocious spelling. I would like to get a reply to my email about the privacy policy someday, but then, I live in hope. Don't get your hopes up, I'm still waiting for them to get back to one I wrote in 2004!

It does seem that way, what with the new addition I've noticed on the login page.
The annoying thing is, terrible writing like that IS against the rules.

Then they need to reconsider which rules they are enforcing! Stories like that are an insult to every reader and even more so to all the authors who do their best to get the spelling and grammar right!

I agree, but they don't seem to care about that. There are so many fics out there that have such bad spelling/grammar that they're incomprehensible. The ones that bug me the most are the ones that are just huges blocks of writing with no recognisible paragraphs, no proper punctuation (e.g. commas after speech) along with the terrible spelling.

And don't get me started on all the misspelled names (Delores, McGonagle ...)! Really, it's not that difficult to check these when you aren't certain, is it? Sometimes I really get the feeling that I am putting more effort into my reviews than some people into their stories - there's something wrong when I - as a non-native speaker - end up wanting to send a story back to an American or Brithsh author with more red than black on the page.

This is exactly what I mean! Okay, I admit my grammar can be off a little, but I attempt to get it as close to perfect and legible! At the very least, inform the author they need a beta! So many stories have great ideas that I refuse to read on the grounds that the grammar is terrible!

I have never read that story, I hated just looking at the name and summery, it made me want to shoot my computer, but I love my computer so that should say how annoyed I was seeing that story and it's spin-offs all the time..
Ugh I do not see the image thing lasting long as the potential for abuse is massive...

The same for me. I ended up reading the reviews to confirm if it was horrible. I had no idea about My Immortal until I found a Parody. Ugh I do not see the image thing lasting long as the potential for abuse is massive... That is the sad thing. Unfortunately, I can just imagine the level of reporting on images that'll begin from this, which makes you sad since it is a good idea.

I agree with everything you said there. The name issue is horrible. especially when it's something like Serverus or Darco or even Hary! And a lot of people seem to Americanise Charlie's name and change it to Charley. Is that how it's spelt in any of the other languages? Because I've never seen it like that in any of the versions I've seen.

Ugh, Charley? That's so wrong! *whimper* Myself, I only know the British and German editions, and both have Charlie. Just went to the HPL, which is to my knowledge American, and there I couldn't find anything about that, either. In the name list it's Charlie, as it should, and I checked the list with changes, where the American version has still Charlie, too. (In case you are interested, this is the link: www.hp-lexicon.org/about/books/differences.html)

Oh good, because it would annoy me if they changed the spelling to fit other languages. Names don't need to be changed.
So the simple explanation is that these people can't spell.

When it's not a CR fic, but a normal one, I sometimes wonder if they have only watched the movies and are spelling it just by hearing the names. Would certainly explain Creature instead of Kreacher and similar mistakes.

I've often thought that too, but if that's the case they really should check their facts. They have no right calling themselves fans if they don't even know how to spell their names. There's a huge list of all the characters on the site itself!

*growls* The site has eaten my post!
Yeah, it would be so easy to look it up, but I have seen enough people who misspelled names of persons and spells and just put a "(sp?)" behind it *sigh* It's not as if there's not an easy way to find the names - FFN itself, HPL, Wikipedia ...
