What is your opinion on the actors and actresses who played the characters in the Harry Potter movies? Do you think they were perfect or do you think they could've chosen someone else?
I thought Jason Isaacs was perfect as Lucius Malfoy and Maggie Smith was perfect as McGonagall.
I just wish Alan Rickman could've had more scenes as Snape.

I think everyone was cast good. I liked the trio, and the professors. I wish the actress who played Tonks had more scenes though.
I prefer Richard Harris over Michael Gambon for Dumbledore. Gambon was too forceful to be Dumbledore. Though it did show Dumbledore's more manipulative side.

I think all the major characters were cast perectly. Honestly I can't remember ever watching the movies and thinking 'That is so not so and so' And even though Richard Harris was fantastic in the first two movies I also enjoyed watching Michael Gambon play the part and I think for the later movies he was probably a better choice since for as great as Richard Harris was he wasn't very spry. I can't see him fighting Voldemort or rushing about as much as Michael Gambdon did. I was dissappointed with Gambdon's look in 3-5 he just didn't look like Dumbledore, I know they did that out of respect for Richard Harris but Gambdon didn't look like Dumbledore until the sixth movie and that is always how I picture him when reading fanfic.

I also think all the characters were cast perfectly. I couldn't have cast them better myself... XD

Probably out of the whole cast the only person that I did not like was Helen McCrory who played Narcissa. she just did not look anyway like the Narcissa described in the books. It also didn't help that she looked to be old throughout the movies. Hell, she looked older then Helena Carter when she was supposed to be the eldest of the black sisters. Oh, and let's not forget the weird double hair color she had going on. Wasn't she supposed to look nothing like her sisters and be blonde?

I have to agree that the casting was ... beyond superb, and that Richard Harris was the better of the two Dumbledores. Gambon came across as *angry* far too often, compared to the books.
I also agree that Narcissa's hair was very WTF-worthy.
Of the lot, Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith get the most kudos, because while I might be able to conceive of someone else in the other parts, though in most cases it would be difficult, those two OWNED their characters like whoah, and I can't begin to see anyone else playing the parts.

Narcissa's hair in the 6th movie was wtf for me to Sherza although I think it improved greatly and made her look younger in the seventh/eighth movies. It's amazing what a hairstyle can do, I couldn't see her as Narcissa in the 6th movie but I totally liked her in the rest.

Helen McCrory was a great choice as Narcissa, imo. Yea the hair was a bit weird, but that's not her fault! She acted the way I pictured Narcissa to act, and that was enough for me.

I liked the cast, but I preferred the first Dumbledore actor over the second one because the second one acted a little too young, if you know what I mean. I wished they would have put more scenes with the Twins (I know, they were in every movie and in the background, but I mean scenes with them actually interacting with Harry and the others.). I loved Alan Rickman for Snape and Maggie Smith for McGonagall, I thought they got into character very well. I also believe Emma was a great cast for Hermione. I was shocked at how much she really sounded and acted like Hermione in the first one, and it was really her first time acting in a major film like this. I thought Dan could have kissing lessons, but he played a really great Harry Potter and Rupert was good as Ron. Like I've said before, I didn't like Bonnie Wright as Ginny, she took a lot away from her character, but it probably was also the Director.

I wish the twins had had more scenes to, and I was furious that we never got to see Charlie and that Bill wasn't in the sixth, they completely screwed up the ending of the sixth movie by not having the fight. I actually like Bonnie Wright, they didn't use her enough in the sixth movie. I also would have liked to see more Seamus and Dean. Actually don't even get me started on the lack of Dean in the DH movies.

Oh I know! The fight scene being left out in the movie was a big no-no. I wanted to see Bill, I wanted to see Tonks and Remus finally get together. Personally I think they should of saved their money on the Burrow attack (that was never in the book!) and use that money for an epic ending! I felt totally underwhelmed by the end of HBP. Charlie.. I can understand why he wasn't in the movie though, he was barely in the book. Bonnie, I have mixed feelings. I would like to believe that the reason I don't like her as Ginny is because of how her character was written for the movie(s). I love Dean, I agree we didn't get enough of him. His face in DH part 2 when Voldy was hugging Draco was hilarious.

I'm still scratching my head about not having the fight near the end in the sixth movie, you would think that have a nice fight would bolster the film makers. Has anyone read the film makers excuse about taking out some of the scenes in HBP? If not just check out Wikipedia and it gives the vague reasons some of the scenes were omitted or changed.

I was expecting to see Charlie in the 4th film I really like the actor that played Bill, I'm glad we at least got to see him in the 7th and 8th movies. I don't think I could stand reading their pathetic excuses, it would probably make me so mad I'd slam my laptop off something.

I hate the bad press Bonnie Wright gets- it isn't her fault that the script portrays her as a weaker character, and she doesn't really get to be feisty like she is in the books. People call her a bad actor, but she's done really well with what she was given, in my opinion.
Evanna Lynch as Luna was the perfect casting, and I adore Emma as Hermione.

The only bad thing with Emma, it was hers laugh in movie 5. That laugh was awfully.

I do like Bonnie as Ginny, but I wished they'd flex her character out more in the movies. Evanna as Luna is perfect.

I was shocked when I heard her voice in an interview for the first time. When I first watched the film I thought she was acting, not her actual voice. I was floor when I heard her in the interview and THAT was her actual voice!

I think Bonnie was miscast. She doesn't look anything like what i imagine Ginny looks like and she isn't a particularly good actress either (though that could be the terrible writing Kloves did).
Rupert could have stood to be around 4 inches taller but other than that i thought he was well cast. I also think Emma should have had bushier hair.

I bet Narcissa tried to dye her hair or something and it went all wrong. That's what it looked like to me, a bad dye job.

Yeah, I agree about Emma the first movie they had her hair styled well for the part but after that, just no. And to continue with the hair thing, I know Dan had his hair cut short for another role right before filming the fifth movie but it looks absolutely horrible for the character of Harry Potter. I mean it could have so easily been fixed with hair extensions. This just really bugged me. The sixth movie his hair was better although still not Harry Potter hair, I'm so glad it was fixed for the last two movies.

I think his best look was the third movie with the seven/eighth coming in second. I liked his hair in the fourth movie for the most part, I think it depended on who was styling it for the day sometimes it looked good but sometimes I wanted to reach into the movie and fix it.

Daniel, to me, doesn't do long hair well. I like him with short hair. I love long hair on guys, but some guys can't pull it off. my husband, Daniel and Rupert are three of the few.

Interesting. But, I still like short hair on all four, yes even the twins. Now, Bill on the other hand........*swoons*
