Yeah it bugs how some fic writers just casually toss out word I mean it's supposed to be an ethnic slur not a term of endearment

Yeah, but what can you do? I personally stop reading a story if it starts using Mudblood as a joke, unless the context makes sense.

I remember one story where Hermione and the others tried to "control" the word, by using it casually to give it less power. Interesting idea, but ultimately ineffective.

I get irritated by how casually some authors use that word too. I like the idea of the characters trying to control the word, especially since in book 7 Hermione seemed to turn it into something to be proud of. I would like to see what would happen if Hermione and all the other Muggle-borns used 'Mudblood' as a war cry.

Kind of a funny idea. Maybe make it so Muggle, Muggleborn, Halfblood, and Pureblood are all considered racist terms by every other magical country.
