Too random for my taste, but then again, Luna herself is rather random.

Well, Rolf is the grandson of Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, so he just might be the type of person who believes in the creatures Luna believes in. In fact, he probably is.

Ah, I forgot that tidbit. It does make a good bit of sense, then.

I think Rolfe is perfect for Luna because he most likely followed in his father's footsteps and I think Rolfe and Luna spent a lot of their time seeing the world while searching for rare creatures including Luna's snorklewhatsit, that makes Rolfe and that lifestyle perfect for Luna. However because of the movies I love fics that have Luna paired with Neville and I was really glad that in DH Neville declares his love for Luna. And I can't help but be facinated with the idea of Harry/Luna and have looked up music vids on youtube with this pairing. But for book canon I'm glad JKR threw in the character of Rolfe.

I hate Rolf. I wanted Luna with Dean Thomas at the end of DH. He was artsy and imaginative, and took her seriously in her own way. He's gentlemanly and stands up for what he believes in, and he's so calm and stable that he could easily handle someone as bright and bubbly as Luna. Not to mention I always see him as enjoying travelling around the world, so he'd go with her While I see why Rolf works for Luna, she's too much of a favorite character for me that she ends up with some random got me in the end. So I ignore Rolf and pretended she married Dean Thomas, always.

Oh, I had expected Dean/Luna in DH, too. They seemed to get along so well.

Glad I wasn't the only one. It's a pity they're a pair that's never really explored well enough

Common failing for most of the series, if you ask me. Look at Harry/Ginny.

What boggles my mind is JKR thought we needed more information on Voldie's story after hearing it in COS and GOF, and less on why the canon pairings work and what triggered them.

Well, she is a firm believer in redeeming bad guys while killing the good ones, so maybe she hoped we'd feel sorry for that megalomaniac mass murderer? Personally, I'd have prefered to cut these talks about Riddle and the Horcruxes short and use the time/space for something more useful. And I am still dissatisfied with the end of DH on all accounts.

I don't. I hate Voldie on all perspectives. He's a boring villain, a stupid villain, a horrible villain. I think what's most dissatisfying about the end was that so many aspects needed more fleshing out but she just left it. I mean, she was so upset at the end, going on about how much work she put in for 17 years, but then rushed the ending. Why?

Same here. He doesn't deserve any pity.
Yeah, in all other books, we have a chapter where they talk about it, where loose ends are wrapped up, and in DH we would have needed that more than ever. Who really died or survived, how did things go after the war, how were the bad guys punished, all that was what I wanted to know. Instead we get the epilogue with some kids and no informations whatsoever about anything I wanted to know. Really sad.

I really don't care that much about the kids. She could have just given us a chapter like that and I'd be alright. It would make the story more final. Maybe we could hear Ginny's pregnant or giving birth or something if she wants to show that. But I wanted a chapter that Had more of an end to it, and a sign of changes being made in the right direction.

I thought it was stupid, and yeah, I thought Luna and Dean were going to get married, but then she just pulls out some random name, and said "Go marry him"

When this was brought up all I could think was who the duckling is Rolfe

That was just about everyone's reaction when it said Luna married him.

I didn't know about Rolf until I started reading fanfiction, and then I still thought he was an OC until he kept popping up. It shattered this lovely image of Dean and Luna that I had. It's hard to find many fics that pair Luna and Dean together though, so I never really thought many people preferred that pairing, glad to know people do

Might have to do with the fact that we know Dean, while Rolf is nothing more than a name. But yes, I liked the idea.

I like the idea of Luna/Dean, but definitely prefer Luna/Neville.

Interesting. For me, Voldemort is the character that I'm the most sympathetic towards. Granted, I don't like him, but I find it impossible to hate him. Honestly, I hate Tom Riddle and Merope more than I hate Voldemort. I also found the memory chapters to be very helpful with making Voldemort more of a character than a complete and utter psychopath. Yes, he is one, but I did like the character development Rowling gave him.

They may have been interesting, but to put them in, there was much left out that I was even more interested in. And why do I sometimes feel he got more of a development than Ginny?
