Wizards re obviously a minority in the Harry Potterverse so how exactly do the not know how Muggles live I call bullshit it's more likely a form of covert prejudice

I think it's a combination of living a very sheltered life and being prejudiced against them. Do you honestly expect the Malfoys or the Blacks (Sirius is obviously an exception) to wish to learn what Muggles are like?

But that's just it even being sheltered they live in middle of bloody London they had to have seen at least a partial semblance of Muggle life, just as the Weasleys must know something of Muggle life I mean they live in a mostly Muggle village you can't tell me they know nothing of telephones, computers, or electricity that's just ridiculous

I suppose you have a point. At the same time, though, if you live in your own manor like the Malfoys with House Elves there to serve you, you don't really need to go out and observe the muggles. You could always just apparate to where you need to go. And, I'm sure that Lucius wouldn't lower himself enough to go shopping with muggles.

No, Lucy wouldn't go shopping in a Muggle area, he'd send his elves to do it in the magical places for the everyday stuff. He'd only bother to go himself for the dark stuff or where bribery is needed.

I really don't know what to think. To me it's hard to imagine they didn't know anything. The logic tells me they should, but the book made it seem as if they avoided it at all costs - at least the pureblood maniacs.
The Weasleys did know about some stuff - Molly was able to call muggle taxis and even knew what a stamp is, even though she did put way too many on one letter. But I still find it strange how Arthur was so fond of Muggles and their stuff, but had basically not knowledge about anything. He treated them more like funny pets than people who have their own culture and achievements, I sometimes think.

The Weasleys probably knew a bit more about Muggles than the average Pure-blood family because of Arthur's job an obsession with Muggle paraphernalia.
As for the Blacks, they may have lived in the middle of London, but their house was invisible to Muggles and probably either unplottable or under the Fidelius charm. Also, I would assume they'd either Apparate or use the Floo to get most places as they too would see themselves above Muggles.

*winces* You might want to correct the name.
Hm, I think you are right about the Blacks. It's the only explanation that makes sense. Besides, I always wondered why they lived in the middle of a muggle area anyway, considering their prejudices.

So true one of the biggest plot holes ever was when Oliver Woode asks Harry what basketball is but then minutes later pulls out a bag of golf balls

Yeah, another inconsistency.
Then we know the wizards use cars and trains, too. So, how can it be that they are so ignorant in the first place? Why do they think they are so much better than muggles when most of the devices they use are of muggle origin? Or do you think the wizards did invent furniture, pots, cutlery and all that stuff separately from the Muggles?

Honestly, JKR has no idea how her world functions. She makes things up at random. I mean really, cameras are a relatively modern invention by MUGGLES!

I dout it I think they're taking on a lot of ideas the muggle-borns bring with them sorta like immigrants bring their native dishes to America and it becomes mainstream

You think the blood purists would take ideas from muggleborns? The ones they call so derogatory 'mudblood'?

Most people like that are very uneducated and they probably have no idea of its origins

Yes it is as an African-American I actually find it highly amusing while they look down upon me I giggle at their foolish inbreeding and love of an instrument craved by my ancestors
