I think Petunia would be in her late 30s during Harry's 5th year. All we really know about her age is that she's older then Lily. And since Lily was born in 1960, Petunia would have been born in 1959 or earlier. But I wouldn't say she's too much older then Lily. They seemed to have had a close relationship before Snape befriended Lily and an age difference greater then 4 or 5 years would have been too big (I can't really see a 15 year old wanting to spend time with their 10 year old sister). So, I would say that by 1995 Petunia would be between 36 and 39 years old.

Me too. Besides, Petunia wanted to go to Hogwarts with Lily, so they can't have been too far separated by age.

Not as old. I've always thought it was living with Vernon that added a bunch of stress, making her seem older than she actually was. When I read the books, I always think of her as late 40's, even though that really isn't likely.

I saw a website that said that Petunia was born in 1958, so I always assume that she's 18 months or so older than Lily.
