Do you think they have one? I would think the purebloods would have one, maybe that's how some marriages happened. Like Draco and Astoria. I was thinking of having a story about the Ministry is holding a Debutantes ball. It'll be like the Tri-Wizard Tournament, with different schools. I don't know, I really like the idea of the upper class wizards having one. I may just write it for myself.

tHAt would be pretty cool. It would be an interesting look in to Pure-blood life.

It would certain make sense. At least, they 'high society' of the Pure-bloods with either do that or have arranged marriages.

I thought the marriages were arranged, and the only time high-society purebloods got together to party was when they were celebrating the birth of another high-society pureblood. I could just imagine Lucius and Narcissa having a big party to celebrate Draco's birth.

Me too, never even considered Debutantes before, but I like it.

I always wondered how Draco and Astoria met. The debutante thing seems pretty likely. Although I think it's likely that purebloods use a combination of arranged marriages and formal get togethers to introduce their kids to the 'right' choices for a spouse.

It really does make sense. After all, they have their own "inner circles" do they not? It makes sense that they'd want to foster pure-blood relations, and what better way to do that than little parties and such?

I looked it up, that's how some parents would do the whole arrange marriage, by options. I can actually picture the Greengrasses having a coming out ball for Astoria in her seventh year during winter break, and they invited Draco because they knew he was single. I would of love to see a one or two shot of Astorias ball, with her feelings for him, and the other guys there.

That would be pretty neat, wouldn't it?

Yes, like she didn't like him at first because he whined to her that he really didn't want to be there, because he's to old for it. Or she agrees with him about how the ball is stupid. I picture Astoria probably not liking Draco in the beginning.

I don't think she would have, either.

For some reason, arranged or not I always pictured them as being truly in love with Astoria not putting up with any of Draco's crap and Draco being a better person because of his love for Astoris. Don't know why I have that impression as we barely get a glimpse of them in the epilogue but that's what I've always thought.

At first, I used to think Astoria was fine for Draco mostly because we don't know her. Then I started writing a fic with Astoria in it... Now I don't mind the pairing, but I prefer Astoria with someone else because I just don't like Draco As well, I see them getting together after the war, because Astoria's about two years younger to Draco and he's got Pansy until he graduated. I almost feel like they had an arranged marriage, most likely by Narcissa, and they grew to love each other. I don't think they knew each other well enough at the beginning to determine their feelings for one another.

I've never really given thought to the pairing, but with the stories I've read that had Astoria in it, I can't see it being a pairing unless there was some major OOC going of for Malfoy.

I've never thought of the purebloods having high-society events. It does make sense though. I do wonder why Draco married Astoria rather than Daphne even though Astoria is younger than him. Maybe Daphne was taken already?

Maybe. Or Daphne found him to be an insufferable toerag. lol.

Yeah. If we go by fanon Daphne (Ice Queen), then I can't see her being remotely interested in him. Canon-wise, we can't tell because all we get is a name really.

True, but I like being able to speculate. Still, it would have been nice to learn more about Daphne and Astoria.

Considering the first time I've ever seen them mentioned in any detail was in Thanks To A Snake, that's typically how I write them, with the exception of Daphne who I typically think of as Ice Queen, but Astoria I keep the same.
