My mom got me the first four books for either my birthday or christmas, can't remember which. This was around the time the first movie came out, which we went and saw after I read the books.

Watched Philosopher's stone when I was about 7 I think. Just the beginning for some reason. Didn't even know they were books till I was 10. I was in my school library and I saw the 1st book and - no one believes me - I heard Hedwig's theme in my head. I made the connection and borrowed the book. And here I am.

Man I loathe HBP. I loathe it more than any other book in the series. The only real character development we get is from Draco, a little of Snape, a fraction of Dumbledore and possibly Narcissa. With everyone else, they're just...not themselves. It's weird, annoying and not very enjoyable. Plus, Harry and Ginny were paired off. But what really ruined it was Dumbledore's blatant use of Harry's fame to lure Horace in. No. Just no.

I didn't like that book either. I couldn't understand why Ginny, Hermione and Molly kept slagging Fleur off, and jumped down Harry's throat when he tried to defend her.

That was rather rude too. I feel like Harry eventually went along with it because he didn't want to upset them.

Yeah, that was annoying me. Molly's such a great example for her own children, and Hermione should know better, seeing how she always complains about Ron and Harry. And then look at all the RtB stories where these same women always tell Harry off for being rude when Hagrid turned up in the shack. Hypocrites

See, and for me it's the other way around. Nothing but Dumbledore grating on my nerves with these so-called lessons and using Harry to do his dirty work for him and everyone acting strange and teenage drama. Still hate the book, and it put me very nearly off reading DH at all.

Then burn HBP and DH with it and rewrite the end to punish the bad guys and have the good guys survive!

hate to be a party pooper... but that doesn't sound as fun or exciting... anyone feel the same way? I mean, I hate it when I don't cry when I'm reading a good book...

I love bitter-sweet stories as I tend to find them more applicable and more realistic. Fred, George, Sirius, Remus, and Tonks are my five favourite characters, all but one of them die, but HP is still one of my favourite series simply because of the story. I have my notes for my re-write of the HP series for the changes that will take place after BFTF is finished, and there are some deaths of major characters as well as a few injuries. I sometimes hate myself for having these plans, but I know I'll like it better if not everything is happily-ever-after.

I could never burn a HP book. Maybe throw it in Filch's drawer to rot for all eternity (coughHBPcough (Bored me to tears! Although it was nice to see Draco be given more dimension as a character.)) but not BURN

Good point, burning is extreme. Let's just ignore HBP all together. It's written well, but it's still a shitty story. It just didn't mesh with the others in my opinion.

If we throw out the parts were people die in all the books then DH is like 10 pages long. (Obvious exaggeration)
