It is a sign of a good author if he/she is able to kill off a beloved character. Fred was one of Rowling's favourite characters, yet she still killed him off. I'm not defending her choices of deaths (I hated them, but I knew some of them were needed), but merely stating that it takes great bravery to do something like that.

True but I don't understand why she doesn't kill off more bad guys .. Like greyback, dolovoh or any of the bad guys who aren't mentioned much nobody would miss them lol I know I wouldn't

I agree. I don't like it, but that took a lot of guts. She did it to further the story she had in her mind, and did a beautifully tragic job. I just wish it hadn't been the case.

We don't know how many DE's dies in the Battle of Hogwarts though, or at any other time. They just aren't mentioned. All it says is that 50 people died in that one battle. Doesn't mean they're all good guys.

NOt sure if I could do it to my favourites. Rather not, probably. It would be easier to kill some less beloved characters on the good side. AND a good number of the bad guys. Canon allows them to get away too much.

True, but it just feels like the good guys got the short end of the stick, even if they did win.

That's true, especially seeing as a lot of them were children.

I didn't really like HBP much either. I didn't like the romance and I hated Lavender's character in that book. OOP was better because it expressed more of Harry's angst towards Dumbledore. I also hated the so-called lessons. I wished they were less towards Voldemort's past.

It took me forever to get past the first couple of chapters of HBP because they didn't focus on Harry. With the first chapter, I got halfway through and put the book down for a day or two. It bored me shitless. I had never put an HP book down EVER the first time reading them.

Likewise, Silver. And then the whole thing with Fuckledore and his using Harry's fame. I'm sorry, but how did Harry NOT find that offensive?

Because JKR made him out to be someone who mostly just did what Dumbledore told him and worshipped him no matter what the old man did to him. Look at Albus Severus - that tells you more than you ever wanted to know. It never sounded believable - save Harry was literally brainwashed.

And that is my personal head cannon. Ever since book six, I really believed that. It would explain why Harry forgave Fumbles so easily.

If we throw out the parts were people die in all the books then DH is like 10 pages long. (Obvious exaggeration) If this was facebook I would so "like" that one... hilarious...

I also hated the so-called lessons. I wished they were less towards Voldemort's past. yes, that is it... the reason I love OotP... HARRY'S ANGST he's finally feeling mad at Dumbledore for something instead of looking up at him like he can do no wrong! He's all happy-go-lucky-ish in the PS/SS, and the CoS was a little too... short? IDK.. and PoA didn't have much excitement... all he did was brood about a person that ends up beng innocent... not very thrilling... although the dementor parts were bittersweetly awesome. Loved the person that said "to each her own" or something like that; too lazy to check, but summed up everything perfectly.

Even when the first movie came out, I never knew that their were HP books until I was in year 6 (2004). I only found out about it was because my parents had bought Chamber of Secrets for my older cousin, but he gave it to my Nana to give away because he didn't want it, so she gave it to me instead (never knew why seeing as I hated reading at the time) but a year later, I was bored so I decided to see if the book was like the movie (or something along those line) so I read the back page and found it interesting. From there, I started reading it backwards, before figuring that I should probably read it the write way.
I then read (in the following order) book 1,3, 5 (movie wasn't out at time), 4 (movie wasn't out at time), 6, 7. i have been a HP fan ever since.

I didn't find out about them till the movies. I then tried to read the first book but I couldn't get past the first chapter and got interested in other books and reading the hp books kinda took a back seat. One day when the GOF came out on dvd I decided to watch all the movies at one time. After I couldn't wait for the ending so I started from the beginning. I'm glad I did cause if I started on the fifth I probably never have finished nor read the others.
What can I say. After the GOF the books were terrible to me. I still question the intelligence of the characters from Ootp - dh.

Well ... Harry Potter has always been there. An aunt took me to the bio, when PoA came out. I still remember the trip. I first started to read the books, when I was twelve, since I was bored, and had nothing else to read in the library, and just shot a look toward the books. It was shortly after DH came out. Meaning ...I've been a fan of HP for six years.

When I was seven or eight, I think, my parents rented out the first two movies. I hadn't read the books yet, but they asked if I wanted to watch as well. I watched them, fell in love, then went to the library and got out every single HP book there was.
