I'm not the biggest fan of this pairing but I hate how in fanfiction the writers get these two together way too fast like in Read the books fics. They could have fleshed out Ginny a bit more in the series I think. Maybe have Harry and Ginny go to the Yule Ball together and help out when Harry is training for the 3rd task. I don't think Ginny used a love potion in the series like in some fanfics but it feels way too weird for me.

Agreed, reading. It is fun to speculate on the love potion bit, though.

I actually really like the pairing. I remember being so upset with Harry while he wa dating Cho, and it was for absolutely no reason! I wasn't currently shiping him with anybody else, but whenever I read about his 'stomach doing flips' or whatever, I always cringed. But when he started hanging out with Ginny I just felt that it was perfect! They just . . . work together. Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione are two of my favorite pairings in that series. They just fit together perfectly.

Never been a huge fan of that relationship. Ginny was not well enough fleshed out, she came over as an obsessed fangirl, and I always found it strange that Harry, who hates his fame, would fall for his fangirl #1 so suddenly. When the relationship is properly develeoped, then I can live with it, but so? It had a bit the feeling as if JKR suddenly realised "Oh, Harry's 16 already, he needs a girlfriend. Oh, let's use Ginny, he knows her already" and whoops, they were a couple.

I think it was a good pairing, and I do like it quite a bit. I wish we could have seen a lot more of their interactions during the summer he began to fall foer her during sixth year. I don't really understand why people call Ginny a golddigger since she never displayed that in the series. I do prefer fanfic versions of the relationship in which Ginny fleshes out more.
As for Harry/Cho, well, that irked me because he liked her first because she was pretty. Then they tried to date and she was overly dramatic and seemed too emotionally unstable. Plus I liked her better with Cedric anyways and that was a huge elephant in the room anyways.

I didn't really have much of a problem with the relationship but i do think JKR poorly thought it out. In a ideal world
- JKR would have spent more time developing Ginny's character in PoA and GoF so we as readers get more understanding of who Ginny is as a person
- I would not suddenly have Ginny being the perfect girl that everyone loves
- I would have Harry's developing feelings for Ginny start in OotP and slowly develop instead of it happening so quickly

But it didn't happen that quickly. JK talks about them spending a lot more time together in the summer before 6 year, you just don't notice it that much because it was during one of her 'I'm going to skip a whole lot of time right now' phases. They did get to know each other before he fell in love.

That's what I mean. I could care less about Voldie's past. I'd rather have once chapter on Voldie and the Horcruxes and another three developing Ginny and her relationship with Harry.

They did get to know each other before he fell in love. Except we don't see any of that happen. JKR has said that Harry and Ginny are soulmates (her words not mine) and i accept that but i think the problem is that JKR had such a clear picture of their relationship in her mind that she forgot that we don't know what she is thinking and she needs to actually show that relationship develop on page. Its sort of like how JKR always knew Ron's eyes were blue and when she found out after releasing HBP she was actually quite shocked that she had never mentioned Ron's eye colour in one of the earlier books. It was like JKR knew Ron's eyes were blue but simply assumed that everyone else knew it as well without actually giving us the information.

I like the paring fanfiction wise, but book wise, it's not the best.
I think their relationship happened too quickly in the books. I would have liked it if in HBP, they could have gotten to know each other. That's my personal canon for their relationship:after the war, they spent a few years getting to know each other. I don't know if the books said how long they were married so I like to think they spent a while getting to know each other more.
I like their relationship in RTB fics because it gives it time for them to really get to know each other. I also like the fanfiction version of their relationship because we can see more.

I like the pairing... and yeah, I do agree that it would be better for it to be more developed...
As for the love potion thing... I don't think Ginny would use a love potion in that way... perhaps someone else fed them, or Ginny was using them to get over Harry Potter... Using them on herself! Of course, I doubt she was good enough at potions to even attempt making 'em. Hermione, the twins, Molly... those I can see, among others.
And I do believe it started in OotP, especially when Harry comments on how Ginny now talks to him after the first meeting of the DA in the Hog's Head.

I like the pairing, Ginny herself got some nice development in OotP, and after she snapped him out of his sulk at christmas I felt that she was the right girl for Harry. But the pairing itself could do with some more development. We needed more explantion as to why Harry liked Ginny, and some explanation on Ginnys feelings, perhaps clarifying that her feelings changed from a little girls crush to actual love.
Basically JK left to much to the imagination with the pairing, and needed to show us more of the pairing.
