I tend not to care, unless I'm really interested in a forum/board/whatever. Like if I don't like the board, I don't really post, but on this forum the people here don't make me want to jump off a bridge after having lost faith in the human race.

Thats mostly why I check. My first forum ended up having a few freaks who scared me off so I try and stay aware.

The guy had seriously problems. He banned another person because they answered a question, and he called them a flamer trying to start a riot. The forum he owns are now a ghost town, because he banned all of the regulars such as myself and some of my other friends. Funnily enough, despite not meeting the guys in real life, Quite a few of them are on my friends list on Facebook.

Oh yeah, some of the guys are really cool and I talk with them daily. I'd meet up with them, but we're all spread across the US, so it'd be hard to without having a huge roadtrip.

I have a few people who I find pretty awesome and won't mind meeting, but since I'm still underage I don't want to get into anything and end up having issues later. Not to mention I have major paranoia about everything...

Oh man, and I thought my first forum ended bad! Sadly, there are some webmasters like that who see an attack on themselves in everything.
*snort* Satanism is the best religion? That had to be a strange girl.

As far as online friendships go, I have had a lot of luck. There were some people where I got into discussions over PM with, then we switched to AIM, and some I finally meet in RL. Some of these friendships have been existing over years now, and I have never regretted it. But one has to be really careful with that.

Same with me. I'm typically pretty paranoid about stuff like that, but I will admit I've met some of my best friends online. I don't care about basic stuff being learned, like some people know my name is Joey and I'm in High school. I don't care about that, but one dude somehow found out about a soccer team I was on when I was playing Premier Soccer, and that freaked me out a bit.

Understandable, it's a bit too stalkish (does that word even exist?) So far I have had only problems with one guy who was a bit too interested in my private life and meeting me, but I've found some great friends online. I think it says something that these friendships still exist after about 10 years in the oldest cases.

Word does exist, and as for the email address on the Augusta Reads thread- it's one that I use for these occasions. Think I have 6 emails for different uses so far. HP FF, Photography, Social Sites, Family, Friends and Work.

I've been there for three years and am a frequent poster. It's a very well-fun forum and even though there are many people who disagree with each other, we're able to disagree civilly.

I have a personal email, and one for my Fanfic. There are probably a couple hundred million email addresses belong to me lol, but I never bother. Even if someone did manage to get my personal email, they wouldn't learn anything since I register my emails under the name John Doe.
