This new setup...it's different, but it's something I could get use to. Although, I really haven't been on the site that much to be affected by it. This new stuff doesn't appear on my iPod, which is where I primarily access FFnet.

Random question, but how many of you would be interested in there being a way to have certain pairings or whatever not show up in a search?
I for one, would love it if there was a way to make certain no slash fics would show up for me. I'm certain many of us have a category that they avoid as much as they possibly can.

No problem with slash, as long as it's well written (which is rare), but I could do without all the stories that pair Harry or Hermione with Snape or one of the Malfoys. They are getting so popular, but I don't like Snape and the Malfoys and the pairings make me shudder. Always wished I could block these out. |

What kitty279 and dimcairien said. One of the reasons I like Hpfanficarchive so much is that it's hetero only so I don't have to sort one from the other (they have a seperate subarchive dedicated to slash).

I've had that thought many times, but I doubt they will implement it. FF seems to be taking the Facebook approach of updating things no one wants, and not updating what everyone wants.

I've always kind of wanted to have this feature. I often times open go through a page and then open lots of stories in new tabs. By the time I am ready to read it, I have no idea what it is about, and then I need to click on the author name to find the summary. I had that problem too! I like the banner at the top of the chapters and I'm sort of getting used to the listings, though I would have liked the numbers to stay. I've only ever seen the smaller sites with the search options to exclude some things, like certain warnings or characters. It really should be done on the larger sites as well so I could stay away from Harry/Ginny and Harmony. |

I find the picture annoying, but as I read many fics it's good to have the summary in the chapters so I can remember what's about. And yes, blocking some pairing would be very good as I like most of the pairings but some are so popular (snarry) and I don't like it that a lot of pages are from the pairing I don't want. Or tagging all the pairing you read like silvertongue said would be a nice option too.

The latest "feature" from fanfiction.net seems to be that all my links are the same color. The links in my browser history don't look any different than links that I haven't been too.
How is this helpful!?

No clue, but I'm glad that wasn't just me. I thought it was a glitch. As for features they should add, I wish they would add a way to hide certain pairings permanently. While I don't mind slash, and I'll read it if it's good, I absolutely hate Drarry and Harry/Ron. Those are the only slash I ever see, and it gets annoying as hell.

I don't get why they put two Genres, but we can only filter one. I hate having to go to the search and figure out a stupid word to search for just so I can filter out a certain Genre. Like if I wanted hurt/comfort/family, in the main part (not the search) I can only filter out one and then scroll through the other crap. Especially if I'm also filtering a pairing like Ron/Ginny. I only want Hurt/Comfort/FAMILY, not Hurt/Comfort/Romance or something else that is disgusting. That is my only problem with FFNET. Plus, when you go to the search function you have to search for a word and so you do get all the stories that you want since it filters everything with the word! *steps off soap box and takes a calming draught* |

Noticed the thing with the links that don't show if they have been opened recently, too, and wondered about them.
Besides, I seem to remember that in my favourites, the story titles were underlined until recently, and I think the authors, too? Or did I dream that? These underlines have gone missing.

Normally, used links are different coloured on my pc for about a week, at work (with different settings) until I delete the cache. So they seem to play around with the desigh again *sigh* If that's supposed to distract me from what they are doing, then they failed. Miserably.

I've seen the same picture used so many times it isn't even funny. That's nothing more than a minor annoyance, though. The only thing that I really 'Dislike' about it is the new review system. They automatically assume that we want to favorite this story because we want to review it?? I usually only review if I don't like it, and I have to keep editing my favorites when I find that I added another bad fic to my favorites by accident. Come to think of it, I still only have one fic in my favorites list.
I don't know about the layout for posting stories, but I suppose I'll find out soon enough.

*screams* THEY CHANGED IT AGAIN! *bangs head on keyboard* now it is more confusing than ever before!!!!!!! The favorites list is so confusing!!!!! Why did they do that!?!?!

I now have to go through every single page to see what has been updated because they put (I think) 50 stories on each page, but when you go to filter them by update date or something, it only filters that one page, not all the pages. I was wondering if something happened when they updated because some stories weren't showing up as being updated yesterday, but I found out that they just didn't show up on the first page!!! When I went to the next page and filtered it, they showed up!

I really don't like the latest update. I wish the alerts list could be sorted, because it takes ages to try and find a certain story.
Urgh, ffnet is just getting annoying now, despite the fact that there are plenty of stories I love there.

I know. I feel like should put everything on the alert list. but that means so much mail. I'll probably still stay there, despite the annoyance. I know yourfanfiction is there, but it will take ages until the stories are at a 'normal' collection.

*growls and goes to bite them* That's CRIMINAL!!! Alphabetical sorting is an automatical habit of mine!
Just went testing. The author favourites can be sorted by clicking on 'pen name', even if it doesn't look like it, but for the story favourites I couldn't find a way, either. Idiots. I hope that is going to be added. If not, it would be one more reason to ditch that stupid site. They are on a steep slope downhill lately, in both design and user-friendliness.
