Does anyone think that Dudley should have had a magical child? I know JK Rowling said in an interview that no magic could have survived in Vernon's blood but what about Dudley's wife/surrogate (if he was gay?)

I think Dudley should have a magical child. It seems only right...and would help bridge the gap between Harry and Dudley. After all, who else will Dudley turn to?

Yay! I've created an OC of my own for one of my stories on FF.net where Dudley has a daughter (he's not gay--that was before I had that little brain blast) and Harry comes to the hospital to let him know about said daughter being magical. I've only written two chapters so far (stupid muse--running off), but I know the plot. Pretty much, it's going to be the third generation of Marauders (James Sirius, Fred II and Riley Dursley--I really don't know why I'm attracted to that name so much). But instead of sticking them all in one house, Riley ends up in Ravenclaw. Near the end, I see her with Fred II but I don't know why (yeah, unsure about a lot of things)

I think it would be cute if they could bridge their gaps with their kids. Not to mention Vernon would die early from a heart attack.

Sounds awesome! I usually call Dudley's daughter, ( I see him having a daughter more than a son), Daisy in keeping with the theme-naming of Petunia and Lily.

Yeah, I've got them having their eldest named Jasmine and the rest of the girls having names that start with R. The flower theme is a good idea though

I like the idea of a daughter. Am I the only one that wishes Harry had named his daughter a flower name that wasn't Lily? I'd like to see him honor his mother in that way instead. Maybe something like Dahlia Lily instead.

Sounds good to me, Gnovella

No gnovella, you're not. I almost feel that it was JK Rowling's way of a cop out. She spent all this time coming up with cool names (case in point: the Blacks) and then when we finally get to know the names of Harry's kids...she comes up with James, Albus and Lily.
Also, do you think that there should have been twins in there? Ginny had twin brothers, meaning the chances that she would deliver twins would be greater--increased even more by the fact that her mother had twin brothers.

Yeah, I'd have liked to see that, too.

What got me is that none, and I mean none, of the Weasleys had twins. Well, Charlie never had kids, but I cop that to him being a mad-scientisty type of guy with his dragons. And Fred died. I would have liked to see Ginny have twins, especially since little twin red-headed Potters running around is an adorable image.

But whenever there is an OC twin, it's always a girl and it feels like a Mary Sue.
Just once, I'd like to find a twin fic that a) is not a twin of James and b) maybe even younger than Lily.

Woah, you know that Dudley shares the same name of a Street Fighter character who is a British boxer.

Nope. Go to street fighter wiki and you can find him as a character. His back story also has some similarites with the HP Dudley.

I agree on the twin fic. I always wonder why people think fraternal twins are so common? I wouldn't mind a twin fic with two boy twins.

I dunno. I'd like to see Harry react with more daughters myself. But whatever floats your boat.

I know this is a 180 but has anyone watched the bio-drama for JKR? It's called Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story and it features Poppy Montgomery as JKR as she struggles to write HP. It is loosely based on JKR's bio but I thought it was pretty good.

Maybe something like Dahlia Lily instead. I understand the whole "honouring parents" but it's to much naming all 3 children after dead people. Kinda like having to live up to them, if you know what I mean? Maybe: Calla Luna Potter? Calla — Another lily relative, also similar to the trendy Callie/Kaylee family of names.Sorrel James Potter Aster Sebastian Potter. Same initials etc..

I like Calla. I may steal that for a my RTB change the future fic, if that's okay with you Wings, and I'll make sure to credit you for it.
I completely agree. It just seems, I don't know, overkill. I mean, I get that she wanted to show him forgiving Snape and Dumbledore, but all the kids getting dead people names with no variations...
Why not change something like Sirius to Siri for a girl? (Okay, that's crappy. But I have no hand with names) Or take the name Brian instead of Albus to honor Dumbledore? Why choose the first name?

Or Percival, or that other middle name of Dumbledore's that started with a W that I can't remember at the moment?
Heck, if you're going to do dead people why not find out the names of your grandparents on your mother's side and do that Harry? Why Snape of all people?

Wulfric is Dumbledore's other middle name.
Calla is a pretty name. There are so many possibilities for them to name their kids something at the same time as honouring the dead. They could even use James and Lily as middle names.
It wasn't just Ginny and Harry either. George named his son Fred and Percy named his daughter Molly.

I looked up Flower names for girls and origonally it was Aster until I realised it was a unisex name and then I saw the Calla being another name for Lily..
