Ohhh, was in London two years ago, too! You could spend a month there to see even remotely everything you want to. Beach holidays are boring. Maybe for a day or two, to have a break from everything, but then I want to see something. Plus, I can't be in the sun for long. My friend and I were thinking about going to Usedom for a week, but we'd spend every day some hours exploring the island, and were joking that we then have to go with two suitcases - one for the clothes, one for the books to fill the rest of the time. Would be relaxing, but still, we'd go exploring.

Next year I'm taking a college trip to Munich, Germany and to Salzburg, Austira. I'm excited because it'll be my first trip out of America. We're attending some leadership conference in Austria. I can't wait!

I hear Europe is so beautiful. I mean, I love America and all, but it's great to experience another country's culture.

Ah yeah.. I was just four days in London, and my mother wouldn't like to be there longer. She's the kind of beech vacation woman. I hate to be in the sun for long and do nothing... Just glare in the sun.. Hah, I like that... I've always taken several books with on vacation, but it's never enough of books, as I finish them quickly, and then I have nothing to do with the pool or beech.

Dracosfairmaiden, there are many beautiful places in Europe - I am still exploring them. You could spend years just travelling there.
Chameleion, I'm totally with you there. We did mostly bus tours, which means I need two books just for each drive back and forth, plus some for in the evenings and the like. So, 5 days abroad = at least 4 books. 8 days = at least 5 books. If necessary, I can always switch books with my friend, who is taking a lot of books, too. When we don't have enough time to read our ever growing piles of books during the year, we used to say that we need another holiday trip to catch up on them.

Smart, Kitty. But I will unfortunately probably need even more books, as I read way to quickly. I even bought four extra books when I was on the last vacation, and it took me a lot to find some store where they had any books. But it's nice that you can switch with your friend, if you have read them all. I almost wish that my brother or sister liked to read too... x)
Next time I take several thick books!

Probably me Isn't Canada great eh? About as interesting as drying paint. Or at least that's what it's like where I live.. I love Canada. And really?! It's that interesting where you live?! For me it's more like waiting for the paint to slowly peel off with age so you can apply another coat Mind you I live in a town where everyone knows each other and nothing happens. I mean we only got a Wal-Mart like 2 years ago Otherwise it was an hour and a half drive to the nearest

Reading way too fast, too. For France we had a 900 km drive the first day - when we reached our hotel, I was at the second-to-last page of book 2!

Aah... I've luckily slowed my read a bit, which I'm really happy for, as I can start to enjoy the books more, and not just rush through the books, as I've discovered that I often have missed a couple of pages. But I would probably have read two books to on a 900 km trip.

Oh my god, that sounds like my town, except we got Wal-Mart like a few years ago, I think in 2002/3. We just got a movie theatre though, but its between towns, the old theatre had two halls. Ans most of the people in my town are dumb rich kids or seniors.

Try to take books that are a bit harder to read. The sort where you have to concentrate on the content, not just speed-read them. I mean, not just the typical light reading so many prefer for the holidays, but something more demanding that forces you to think about it to follow. That's what I sometimes do when I have them, it slows me down, and I still have enough time to really work my way through the book. These demanding ones always are a problem when I try to read in the underground on my way to work, but they are great or loooong drives.

Great idea... There was once where I could never put a book down without having read the last page. But I've learned to put it down, when I have to go to sleep or something else. Went through the HP-book on one day... Took it even with to a birthday in the family xD

Yep sounds like my town. We got lucky though and they built a new movie theatre in town and it even has 3D And I know what you mean by seniors, or at least people over 50. Heck my whole neighbourhood doesn't have anyone younger than me (21) and not only that, but my principle from when I went to school lived literally in the house beside mine

Ah, I was lile that too. It was super bad, I got DH at the midnight release and stayed up until sunrise, carefully reading the entire thing. I mean, like analyzing evrry detail, it took me twelve hours to get through since I kept re-reading parts and going whoa! i thought of that.

Wow it took me 23 hours to read DH, but that could be because I was bawling through half of it and had troubles reading cause of that lol

Ah. I read it all on once, and read it again later to analyze it. Read it from mourning to night, before I finished it. My parents were super-annoyed.

I'm one of those late readers. Read a few pages as ten-year old, but stopped, as I thought, it was to strange, and the name Hermione was to strange. Read it again later, when all the books where out, shortly after DH's releasing... I read all books on ten days. (One book or two weren't in the library, but came the next day or two)

My parents are used to me with my nose in a book 24/7 so if I do something like that, they just shrug and shake their heads

Went through the HP-book on one day... Took it even with to a birthday in the family xD Not that bad. When OotP came out, it was the day when we had an appointment with the blacksmith for the ponies. I was holding my mare with one hand while he worked, and with the other the book. Only disadvantage was that she always wanted to put her nose in, too, to see what I am doing, Plus, it might be edible, right?

My parents are used to me doing that too, Rachel, but they get still annoyed. "Spend more time with your family."
Hahah. You must be really obsessive with HP to do that... Not that I can talk. I once talked and talked about HP all the time to my grandmother. Only because my mother gets easily tired of it, and my grandmother is great to seem like she's interested xD

You are talking to the one who walked to school with her nose in a book, dear, so it's not just HP, it was just accidentally the day it came out and I was curious. (For the first 4 books, I really liked the series, that you have to consider, too). There's a reason why I ended up a librarian!
I think my record was the third Diana Gabaldon, Voyagers (or rather the German edition). About 1000 pages, read from one day 5.30 pm to next day 8:30pm. And that time includes 8 hours of sleep and one and a half taking care of the ponies.

I would say that I once upon a time talked people into boredom with HP, but I can still claim to do it now. And my family would be ticked about me not spending time with them and reading to much, if it weren't for the fact that in my household, we all just sit around and read. We interact and talk about what we are reading, but we are the biggest family of bookworms that I know

Well... I was the bookworm in school. You never saw me without a book. I've looked back on some of the pictures from school, and it annoys me a bit, that you always see a book in my hand, and my nose in it.
Ooh, you're a librarian! I'm considering which education I should get. I'm considering jura or librarian.

Yeah... It's a ideal place for me, as I have hearing troubles, and it seems nice to work as a librarian, as it seems like a quiet place to work.

Awesome career! Librarians rule But I am more leaning towards being an author myself. Haven't had anything published, but that is because I haven't written anything publishable yet. But I am in the middle of writing a book/book series. Don't know how long it will be yet, but the ideas just keep flowing and this site really helps with the inspiration department ;D
