My mother is close to reaching that point, where she promptly refuses to let me have any books on vacation x) I keep buying books right now. Hadn't bought books for years, because I went mostly to the library, but now I keep buy books, and it annoys my mother as hell, since I buy the books mostly in Denmark, and it takes a lot of place in the suitcases x)

Ah, I see ... not enough space left for the rest of your stuff Pity you can't just shrink them, isn't it?

I'm usually the one driving when I go on long road trips. Makes it a bit hard to read. And I like having music better than having a book read to me. I don't mind reading a book to someone else though.

It depends. When we go by car, it's mostly me driving, but when we make a bus tour - which most of the journeys to other countries were - I can leave it to the paid driver and enjoy reading or the sights, depending on where we are. (Highway to and from our destination is the time I read the most, not so much when we are abroad around the place we are visiting).
See, Chameleon, that's why most of my wardrobe is colour-compatible, so I don't have to take too many outfits. Though, admittedly, I still use a light bag, while for a flight, you'd prefer the hard ones who weigh more already. And I use small tubes for shampoo and all that stuff, which reduces space and weight.

Smart, smart. Well you live in Germany, where it must be easy to drive around. I live in Faroe Islands, and if you want a vacation in another country, it's either take the plane or the boat, and the family prefers the plane, as it is faster.
Well, right now I don't have a maximum kg, but I fight to get everything in one suitcase.. x)

True, in that regard we are better of. Though 1500 km drives can be tiring, let me tell you.
For me it's the suitcase and a rucksack for the stuff I need at hand (handkerchiefs, passport, book ...)

My mom refuses to let me bring books anymore because they take up too much space and weight in a suitcase. Instead I got an e-reader for Christmas and it has become my baby. That is why I love my laptop lol. I have maybe a thousand or so books on my laptop. I would never have been able to take that many books. I just wished I'd gotten one easier, cause that would have made the 2 day road trips so much easier when I was younger.

I am also from Germany, from the northern part of North-Rhine Westfalia. On my reading habits I just can say that I most often read too much. Normally I am able to read really big books like 700 pages in about three and a half hours. That means at the end of a holiday with my family I have read all books from me and all others too.

I'm from capital of "North of sweden" and capital of "Culture of europe 2014" That mean Umeå, a very nice city 700 kilometer ( 434.959 miles) from our boring country capital.

*waves to the far north* Sweden is definitely on our holiday wish list, too! Haven't seen more than a short stop in Stockholm so far, but want to rectify that one day.

Czech Republic...such a small country that it doesn't have a meaning to write from which town

And the different spelling wouldn't help there, right? But I've been in Prague twice and enjoyed it. It's changed a lot between these visits and I loved these beautiful old houses.

Oho!! Chikina! I'm from the Czech Republic too You might have heard about my hometown, we have the deepest abyss in the Central Europe just around the corner together with the warmest caves in the country. And it's quite funny writing in English to someone who speaks the same language It seems that people here travel a lot around the world, huh? I wish I could too, but so far, I've only been twice to Slovakia, twice to Dresden, twice to Brussel and once to Croatia. My parents always took me to some historical sites and museums when I was younger and had no interest in it whatsoever so even now that I am interested in it, I'd much rather have some boring beech holidays since I saw the sea only once

Wow, really? I haven't been expecting that. And is it Vilémovice? I'm not really sure. I think that where Macocha is. I'm from Pardubice. And yeah it's wierd to write in English when you speak Czech as well.

I learned about Czech Republic when I was in 3rd grade... but I forgot everything What's it like?

Too bad, time to get back to school, that abyss is Hranice abyss But well, many people think that Macocha is deeper. As for what CZR is like... I'd say nothing much Sure, we have plenty of castles and historical sites, the landscape is quite nice too, if you know where to go. But if you want to have some fun or you do some kind of sport, you almost always have to go to a county town because in smaller towns, there's nothing. I, for exemple, live in a town with 20, 000 inhabitants, we have here 6 supermarkets, countless night clubs but only one place with bowling which is on the other side of town, which is something that really pisses me off. The same goes for our swimming pool (joy when it's 30°C in the shade xP).

That sounds a bit like my town in Florida, except we have no clubs, only two supermarkets, and the bowling is on the outskirts of town.

Yeah, and I haven't even started about our politicians yet -_-" They're shame of the whole country. I have no idea if the current events are known in the rest of the world but surely, you must have heard about our president stealing a pen in Chile And to viralic - there's one catch with our bowling - it is situated in a basement of one club where you can go only once you're 18. So if you're younger, too bad... retarded

That sounds like crap. When I played soccer in Miami, we went to this bowling alley that was in a nightclub, and it was pretty awesome actually.

Yorushka really? Well I haven't got a geography for a few years but I recall that our teacher said that Macocha was the deepest one. Well, nevermind it's probably because Macocha is so well known. And don't even let me start on our politicians...

You can't go into a bowling ally until you're over 18? Why?

|
Post by chikina on Jul 28, 2012 20:52:09 GMT -5
We can, it's probably just a speciality of the bowling club.

It's still quite stupid, as it cuts down on possible customers for no reason. I went sometimes bowling with my dad when I was still only around 10 or so. Save the problem of being able to move the balls, no age limit on that makes sense to me. And you can move them long before you turn 18.
