When Hagrid picked Harry up on his eleventh birthday, he said that he flew, and I imagine that he used Thestrals for that. Perhaps he used a Thestral to fly to Godric's Hallow, and met Sirius there and got the bike, and figured it might be safer for Harry to fly on the bike rather than the Thestral, or something like that.
Well I would say, logically, it would be Sirius who figured it quickest what happened. I mean it was night, and no one would come to visit... But they say that the curse died, when Lily and James died, and Godric's Hallow was a mixed town of muggles and wizards, so perhaps the rumors flew that quick around the Wizarding world, when they saw the house, although how they knew it was James and Lily's house, I don't know.. But Dumbledore should have arrived to see the evidence and all that, as he was the leader of the Light, and Voldemort was defeated.
And by the way, how did they know that Voldemort was defeated straight away? I mean the only witness to Voldemort's defeat was baby Harry.

The last one I presume was because the dark mark was disappearing and the DEs panicked and it snowballed from there.

Since Albus ket such a close watch on Harry, and may have had certain ways to monitor him at Privet Drive, I can't believe he wasn't also keeping a close eye on the otter's while they were hiding, and therefore should have known very early on when Voldemort even got past the Fidelius. Though that again brings u the question about what took him so long to act....time to find and talk to Hagrid, etc. notwithstanding. He also could have easily just gone to Godric's Hollow himself, if you think about it. Minerva sure thought he had at one point ("eyeing him as if she thought he had baby Harry hidden under his cloak" ring any bells?).

In St. Mungos, when they are going to visit Mr. Weasley- 'They climbed a flight of stairs and entered the "Creature-Induced Injuries" corridor, where the second door on the right bore the words 'DANGEROUS' DAI LLEWELLYN WARD: SERIOUS BITES.' If you put these words on a sign, they would read:
Creature-Induced Injuries Dangerous Dai Llewellyn Ward Serious Bites
Take the first word of each of these and what do you get get? Creature Dangerous Dai Serious? No - Kreacher dangerous, Die Sirius...
That really shocked when I saw it on a fan site.

'If Dumbledore chooses to ignore the warnings the cards show --' Her bony hand closed suddenly around Harry's wrist. 'Again and again, no matter how I lay them out --' And she pulled a card dramatically from underneath her shawls. '-- the lightning-struck tower,' she whispered. 'Calamity. Disaster. Coming nearer all the time ...'
Guess what the chapter Dumbledore dies in is called, I never noticed it first time round.

I didn't notice the lightning struck-tower thing either. I guess she wasn't such a fraud after all.

I noticed how she said that, and I saw the chapter title and I was like -"Uh-oh!". I kinda want to catch up with Hermione and tell her...

I have this feeling about the Fidelius Charm that when the subjects of the charm die it would just disappear... Could've been a fic though. I used to read Abbzeh's fics on FF.net before they got deleted and she was really good at picking things up. Like the fact that the Goblet of Fire was brought in in a casket that "represents the death it brought with it" or something like that. Now I'm just waiting for her to bring them here...
But what I personally have always wondered about is the timeline of Dumbledore knowing about Horcruxes. I mean, Harry bringing him Riddles diary confirmed his suspicions but on the other hand the memories he collected seemed to be from a longer time than just three years. Did both Morfin and Hepzibahs elf (someone tell me her name, please, I forgot!?) die during those years? Nice coincidence. And this matter always annoys me in reading the Deathly Hallows or other books with Dumbledore finding about them during the readings since they always happen around 4-5 years...
Whew, rant over. Sorry about the novel.
