During the shunning of one Harry James Potter during his fourth year, the House of Helga Hufflepuff find some rather strange books. Will they finally realize what they're doing is wrong?
-Books 1-4 are a must-have!
-Cedric must be there. You can start it off with only the fourth years at first but somehow the older years have to branch in.
-Pair Cedric with someone other than Cho! I honestly don't care who it is, as long as it's not creepy. But they can break up and Cedric goes to the Yule Ball with Cho if that's your main paring.
-Ernie/Susan or Justin/Susan. Heck, Harry/Susan if that floats your boat. All I care about is good writing.

If I felt that I could do this idea justice and was not in the middle of writing a LOTR epic story I would take this challenge!
I read the idea and immediately thought 'what if Helga herself had created a charm and put it on the common room so that if Hufflepuff house ever totally united against another student (You know with them priding loyalty to be shunning one student is bad form) the school itself would provide books about said student. The school would also lock the members of the house in to ensure they read the books and the house elves would know to take them food.'
Gah! I am trying to talk myself out of doing this!

rushingriver: you have a good idea there... but then they would have been trapped during the cos after the dueling club chapter itself right?

I don't know about that, I have a feeling that it would have only been the younger students that were shunning Harry during the Chamber incident. I think that the older students would have been less likely to believe that someone so young would be able to cast something that petrifies, if I remember correctly no one knew that the petrifying was happening as a result of a creature they would have thought that it was a curse, and a second year would not have the power to cast anything that could petrify a cat let alone a sixth year Ravenclaw prefect (Penelope Clearwater).
By the fourth book though, Harry is 14 and has just stolen glory from the entirety of Hufflepuff house; and Cedric Diggory, a Prefect, wonderful Quidditch player and their house Champion. So they are all against him then.

I was writing it in my head all day at work. My coworkers were not impressed in the least (most of them seem to think that HP is a bad thing) I kept spacing out and when you are working with dishes in a hospital kitchen that is a bad thing! I really do want to write it, my only problem is finding the time; between high school that is starting back up in a month, a full time summer job, and writing the LOTR story my time is down the drain. Plus I have never actually tried to do a RTB story so that would be a large (read gigantic) task. I will try though, I will attempt to write up a rough first chapter on Monday (my first day off in a week!) and post it somewhere. I will put up the link here and you guys (and gals) can decide if I should continue. How does that sound?

Sounds like a deal! Though if you're writing it in your head, I think it's safe to say it'll sound good. Don't worry about whether or not you've written a RtB story before. I didn't before I started out my Quidditch Players series. I just read a lot of them.

can someone post the link to the chapters once they are posted on Archive of our own for those of us who don't have an account there so that we can also read?
