Hi, I'm a total reader, and I am desperate for new reading material.
I'm in South Korea, and I'm not a good reader when it comes to Korean books, but the English ones are limited... I'm going to ask if I can buy some online, but I need recommendations!
Some books I like include... -Alex Rider -PJO, HOO & KC -Artemis Fowl -Mysterious Benedict Society -Fablehaven -Ranger's Apprentice -A Series of Unfortunate Events -Maximum Ride -Warriors -Brotherband Chronicles -NARNIA -Septimus Heap
I also like classics, and Greek and Roman myths are awesome. I think that most people will notice that I'm in the Junior Fiction parts, and I'd also like to branch out a bit...? If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

The Hobbit ~ JRR Tolkien Lord of the Rings~ JRR Tolkien Anne of Green Gables (Plus the rest of the series. Eight in all) Lucy Maude Montgomery (You should be able to find most of these books online for free as most of them are now public domain) Les Miserables ~ Victor Hugo (another book that should be public domain for you. It's a hard read, but definitely worth it. You may find it easier to read the abridged version first, but make sure you read the full version at some point) Shakespeare (any of his plays are a good read, but some of my favourites are Hamlet, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, and Twelfth Night. Again, these should be fairly easy to find for free online)

Oh, The Hobbit and LotR, absolutely! You could try this link; they have at least some books online where you could have a look if you are interested and, if necessary, copy them. Might be cheaper and easier than having to buy them, particularly when it's so difficult to get them down in South Korea.

Jim Buther's "Dresden Files" Series is cool. Also, Neil Gaiman's books (I absolutely love "American Gods", but it's spin off "Anansi Boys" is an easier read). "Neverwhere" ist great, too.
And Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" Series. Let's not forget Terry Pratchett. ;D

Yes, useful link I think it was Miss Wingy who posted it first. There aren't that many books on this website (yet?), and you'd have to read it at the computer, but better than no books at all, right? And if you like it and want to own the book, you at least know that it's worth trying to get the actual book. If you like crime mysteries (and animals), then maybe the Mrs Murphy series by Rita Mae Brown would be interesting for you. And an interesting historical series in 18th century Scotland/America would be the highland saga by Diana Gabaldon. But I am reading so many books which are initially German or, recently, French and where I don't even know if they exist in English and under which title that it's hard to recommend much.

With Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is and indecisive twit with no spine and Juliet whines and wants everyone to fix her problems which she caused herself so she has no room to complain in the first place Twelfth Night I suppose it wasn't that bad but viola is a big hero and a man takes all the credit

The "Dresden Files" Series (Jim Butcher) and some Terry Pratchett books are actually on the page Kitty linked, too. I didn't find Neil Gaiman there, though. If you are more into weird fiction, China Mieville might be an author to look at. His first book "King Rat" was a good read. "Perdido Street STation" was... interesting (a bit too strange for my taste - people with bugs as heads? Yuk!), But "Kraken" was great (I'm a big Cthulhu-Mythos fan), and "The City & The City" was very interesting in its duality. Finally, having searched around a bit on Kitty's linked site: "The Last Unicorn" is a wonderfully written book. And "Needful Things" is my favourite Stephen King novel. (I can't belive they're online there. That page has to be illegal, isn't it?) Edit: Oh, and before I forget: I recently had a hilarious time reading Jonathan L. Howard's "Johannes Cabal" series. It Starts of with "Johannes Cabal - The Necromancer" and is about the title character making a bet with Satan in order to win his soul back. His attempt involves an evil travelling carnival, some really really weird zombies and his vampire brother Horst, who somehow ends up being the most human character in the whole book. ;D

Very likely, yes. I know for a fact that LotR shouldn't be available yet, Christopher Tolkien has a firm grip on the rights and the copyright time hasn't ended yet. JRRT died in 1973, so the copyright would be in existence until 2043. But as it's out there, why not use it? And for someone who has such problems to get books, it's a big help.
Hm, I might copy LotR for myself, too. While I have the books (actually, my Tolkien library has to be around 50 titles already), searching for something would be easier in such a document.
