Any attempt at giving him the benefit of the doubt, went out the window for Rhea. Unconsciously, her hand fidgeted to reach for her wand. Obviously, this creature did not like her, and she felt that was a very bad thing for her. Though Rhea did feel a bit better as both Lucinda and Fawkes were there- she doubted either of them would tolerate this Goblin harming her. The fact that this was proven by Lucinda defending her had Rhea smile softly.

Kampfa turned his glare from the girl to the phoenix. Was she serious? No wonder they were losing. What a foolish phoenix, fighting for protection! Bah! He stared at the human-wolf girl. While her appearance disgusted him, he knew of wolves. Born humans, they were marked by their own and oppressed. He didn't like her presence, but he could see her reasoning to be here. She'd be watched, for sure. If her human side took over and pushed her back to them, they could kill her.
"Fighting the ones who only wish to harm, eh?" he asked in his silky growl, his long fingers clemching into a fist. "And how has that worked for you? Looks like it was a success, wasn't it? I can see the signs of victory all around us!"
Now meeting the wolf-girl's eyes, he stared coldly at her as he said, "You think a war is won with defence? You think there aren't plenty of them, out to destroy us? They can turn even on their own kind, why would they relent because we showed them our submission?"

Lucinda did her very best to keep her temper from going out of control. The last thing she needed was to act rashly. "The only reason the barrier failed was due to spreading myself too thin. Yes, I was mistaken, and I take full responsibility, but harming the innocent will only make things worse. We have to unite with those who are willing to help us, and eradicate the hatred, not stir up more."

Rhea didn't quite know how to respond. Finally, she slowly said, considering her words, "I don't know about you, but I know that I will never harm anyone who doesn't give me a reason too. So far, only the Aurors who attacked us today and a few other ministry workers have given me reason. It would be cruel and horrible of me to harm someone who is innocent of the minsitry's deeds." Then she glanced at Lucinda, "As she said, the best way is to earn the trust of the innocent, and get rid of those who are corrupted."

Kampfa burst into laughter. Innocent! Humans had no innocence! They skaughtered barbarically for fun, they were thieves, they had no morals. And these fools thought they had innocence to them! The idea was so entirely laughable. Once he regained his composure, he glared at them from his glittering beady black eyes.
"So all those Aurors are to be blamed? Shall we just hunt them down and crush them? After all, the war only lies on their shoulders. They're guilty for taking lives. Let's just kill them all off, and the war ends here. I'll take up knitting, you can find yourself a mate, and we'll all dance around with humans because the war-starters are dead," he said with heavy sarcasm.
"Have you not followed their papers? Read the articles? Caught their lies! You think a war is funded simply on a few Auror's saying let's kill some magicals? The entire community hailed them as heroes. Fighting for a worthy cause! They've been labelling us as threats for months! This morning's paper had The Puppet Minister gloating at how many of us were dead. And you think it stops there? They'll have celebrations, talk about the success. Plans for more battles. And it won't end there.
The human children up in that school, they're the future. They'll be hunting us down as a part of their own fun! You think we can just stay put in this forest and not make a move? Not show them that we are ready to avenge our fallen? You think that by standing down we stand a chance? There are no innocent in a war, and until you realize this, understand you fight a losing battle. They support their ministry's cause," said Kampfa, his face maintaining his calm emotional visage,

What did humans do to him? Rhea couldn't help but wonder as she struggled to dig up a suitable response, "Maybe they're not innocent completely- rather ignorant. You said it yourself- their papers are filled with lies. The public are being lied to. They don't know who we are! How are they to know that we are sentient beings capable of more then just senseless murder, if they are only told otherwise? The lies must be purged, and the truth revealed. Along the way, we have to protect ourselves from those who actively hunt us."

"She speaks the truth." Lucinda agreed, her tone soft. "I've seen a lot in my hundred or so years on this world. I've watched the slow and steady decline of creatures and humans, and how they've come to loathe each other. It started with innocent humans - magic and muggle - at the brunt of our wildness. We've harmed them, and they us. As time moved forward, things became hostile." She paused for a second, in order to gather her thoughts. "It isn't right, fair or just to simply kill all of them. Each life is precious, not just ours. We have to try and fix things, not further the spiral."

"I have lived almost 150 years on this planet, alongside humanity. The two behind you have lived longer lives. Even in your pathetic few years of life, name how many humans that had no blood kinship to you went out of their way to assist your condition. The truth, girl, is already out there. 200 years before this day, the Voldemort War ended, and they tried finding peace and spreading a message of equality. They went on about house-elves and centaurs, praising them to the suns. Books were published praising magical creatures, it was the fad to treat us rather bumbling creatures as intelligent. They even made shelters made for your kind. Today, they print articles about our inferiority, despite the books saying otherwise. Today, those shelters have been cut to two, both in Ottery St. Catchpole, both started by the Potters who turned away their own vampire son. Tell me, who is being lied to?" he retorted smoothly.
"The end to this cycle has drawn near. Whether you wish to admit it or not, it has come down to either us, or them. They have picked their sides, now we pick ours," he told Lucinda.

Lucinda ignored the jab at her age - she had only spent a short while on this world, but she knew that she was far older than him. "Not all humans are incredible or clever. Many of them are sheep to their leaders of government. The From what I've been told, humans are fearful, prejudiced creatures. They do not understand us, nor we they. That is where the problems are coming from. With their government acting against us and trying to make these facts true, it is hard to discern between fact and fiction."
Her tone sharpened. "And while you make some very good points, I'm sure you understand how tough they are. Those who use magic have power over us that we can't comprehend! The non-magicals have weapons that can wipe out entire continents, for Athena's sake! If we go around attacking them, instead of trying to diffuse the situation, we are only doing the equivalent of kicking a hornet's nest. Only, these hornets are far more deadly."

Fawkes had been listening for awhile, growing more and more angry at this Goblin the longer he spoke. Now, he decided to add,
"Anyways, it's peculiar that you would mention the Voldemort War. I can tell you about it, and the Grindlewald War. Both of them were because of what your proposing- Some of a race, or group pose a threat, so wipe them all out. While it is valiant of you to want to win this war quickly and smoothly by simply taking them all out- You cannot kill if you are already dead. Try and attack them as a whole, and they will fight back as a whole."

Kampfa stared at the group, seeing a lost cause and battle. It was time to throw in his axe, as his grandfather said. He knew however, that humans would in time, reveal their true nature.
"The muggles are not our concern, they have left us long ago. I am not interested in their demise. The wizards are the ones who wronged us, the ones who slaved to their governments. Perhaps then, the only way to win this battle is if we destroy their government, perhaps. I realize I may have angered you, and for that, I apologize. But my point is merely that humans will not end to kill us, and fighting a defensive front will only give them more opportunity to slice us to ribbons.
And again, the funny thing is, my suggestion is to free our own oppression, fight back our battles. Both times a group went to fight against another, to destroy them. Our group is the one that faces victimization, not there's. And as far as I recall, both times, the group of opressors were erradicated. That is what I strive for, to destroy those groups. Is it wrong to wish that? To wish for a day were those tyrants are gone? Mayhaps I've been in one place too long, but from what I've seen, that is how a war is won, when tyrancy has ended. Forgive me for getting over-heated," he said with a curt nod.

An idea hit Lucinda right then. It seemed like a good idea, but she'd have to speak about it with Fawkes, Rhea and a few others before she could be sure. She didn't trust her own judgement at the moment. But she would not discuss it with this goblin - he would ruin it with excessive bloodshed.
"I do not like the methods you wish to use. They are cruel, completely unjust and farther down the moral horizon than I'd like," she said formally. "However, I do agree that this war cannot remain purely defensive. But for now, nobody here is going to be in any shape to fight. We have just come from a terrible defeat, and need the chance to recover."

"I won't deny you a chance to recover. And yes, I am slightly more, aggressive, in my approach. However, I have studied humans, their villages, their ministry, the school, anything about them, for the last 82 years of my life, as well as battle technique and approaches to fight a war. I have skill in welding armor, goblin armor, and I am sincere in wanting to help. Do not deny me this chance to use my knowledge for the benefit of our own kind," said Kampfa, surprised and pleased that he had made headway with the stubborn phoenix.

Lucinda considered his offer. Yes, she still did not trust the goblin, but his advice could prove useful. She looked to Rhea and Fawkes, neither of whom seemed to be pleased. Feeling as though she were going to regret this decision, Lucinda said, "I'll consider your offer, under the condition that you leave Hogwarts alone for the time being. That is where I'm going to draw the line."

The goblin sighed. The school was the perfect first target. However, he wasn't going to jeopardize this alliance for his own satisfaction. There were other ways to create a frontal attack.
"Very well, the human young may be left alone. While I believe it foolish to leave such a prime target open, I do believe in truces. And if we are on the same side, then I won't jeopardize that. Nevertheless, I must insist on fortifying our own defenses. The fact is, we are poorly protected. We cannot rely on just one person," said Kampfa. "And I do steongly believe that the frontlines between the school and the Forest must be watched."

"Very well. I shall scout the area around the forest. I want to know which sides are unfortified, and ripe for attack. Good day," he said.
And with that, he slung his tool bag over his shoulder, nodded, and began thinking where to go to find areas to protect.

Fawkes nodded in agreement, the goblin was too vicious to be trusted. Rhea also nodded as she said dryly,
"Indeed, he isn't exactly one of the most pleasant of people."

"Unfortunately," Rhea replied as she began walking once more, glancing in the direction that the Goblin had went. Honestly, she didn't trust him one bit.
Fawkes had similar sentiments- His loyalty to the school led him to be quite upset with the goblin who had been quite keen to attack both the school and the innocent children inside- a good portion of which would probably be very much helpless in an attack.

As the three of them walked, they came across creatures whose wounds needed to be tended to. As she had before, Lucinda stopped to heal them, offering words of private condolences. It stung, being forced to realize the error of her actions. and there were moments when she felt a sense of impending doom. What great burden had she taken on?
But Rhea, and now Fawkes, offered her moral support just by being there. At least she wasn't facing her mistakes alone. Eventually, they came across two individuals whom had seemed to be forgotten during the course of the battle - Kei and one of her young foals, Jei.

Kei and Jei had spent the night in vigil at the shining log, but when the sun had risen, Kei nudged her son and the two unicorns left, Kei was still upset but a bit more peaceful then before, Jei seemed a bit calmer- but if you looked in his eyes, it wouldn't be sadness you would see- rather hatred and rage. Now the two had decided to return to the more public part of the forest and see if there was any news or orders to be had.
After awhile of trotting, Kei saw ahead of her....
"Lucinda!" She called.

"Hello,Kei." she replied, an uncomfortable shiver going along her spine. Kei looked more like an avenging angel than the kindhearted unicorn she'd met before.

The two unicorn quickly came up to the three, glancing curiously at the new phoenix- as he did them. After the momentary glance, Kei bowed her head to Rhea and Lucinda in greeting. Her voice was a mournful, but pleasant-
"Pleasure to see you Lucinda and Rhea." Then she turned her head to look at the new one again, "And if I may ask, Who is this?" Jei didn't offer a hello, he pawed the ground as he looked around.

A great relief flooded through her - Kei didn't seem to be angry. And yet, there was a great sadness. "This is Fawkes - he's an old friend of mine from home, and a former denizen of the school."

Kei proceeded to bow her head to Fawkes as well, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Fawkes." The phoenix lowered his own head in return,
"The pleasure is mine, If you don't mind, what is your name?"
"Kei, I am the... Deputy of sorts of the Unicorn herd here in the Forest." Fawkes then tilted his head toward Jei,
"And who is this then? Your foal?" Privately, Kei felt a sting- it had used to be 'And who is this then? Your foals?' or 'Your children?'. However, she managed to ignore it as she replied,
"Yes." She paused for a moment, but Jei did not seem to want to offer up his name. In fact, he had stopped looking around and was now staring down. "This is Jei." She finally announced.

Kei immediately felt a inner sense of dread. She knew that it would come up, and she would have to announce her baby dead- but she didn't like doing it. After a moment of struggling, she managed to open her mouth. However, the words that rang through the air, were not her's.
"That horrible wizard killed her!" Jei's tone was filled with anger and hatred, the words filled with venom. He looked up momentarily to glare into the air before looking down again.

Lucinda bowed her head, feeling sick to her stomach. Poor, sweet little Xei, dead? Why had fate decided to be so cruel to them? "My condolences, Kei." she said softly. "Do either of you, or the remainder of your glory, need any sort of healing?"
