Hi I was just on FF.net checking to see if any of my favorite storeis were deleted, so far after the first perge I am lucky how long that lasts I don't know. Anyway, there is a new message on the home page from yesterday the part I am interested in looks like this: Upcoming: ◦Stories: Notes feature. ◦Forums: Improved ban, moderation, and filtering. ◦Communities: More in-depth filtering. What does forums: improved ban mean? I am kind of worried, anyone else?

lol. No reason to be worried really; they're talking about improving moderation and banning features for users who administrate FFN forums, not for themselves.

They can do Forum Filtering, but not Story Filtering instead of just deleting everything? Hypocrits(?).

what do you think the notes feature means?
Does anyone else besides me think that they're adding so many features lately because of the purging and they're trying to bribe the readers that are threatening to leave with them?

what do you think the notes feature means? Does anyone else besides me think that they're adding so many features lately because of the purging and they're trying to bribe the readers that are threatening to leave with them? I would give it a month or two and everything should cool over. I tink that ff.net just decided to upgrade the site for easier acess and saw how many "rule-breakers" there were on the site. I'm thinking the purge is really them finally doing their "job" they were supposed to do for the last 10 years. After they update the site I believe it will go back to the old ff.net but with a little more moderation. There will probably be 10-20 fics deleted every week or two but not in the 1,000's that we have seen now. I think they just got scared of losing sponsors if they didn't do something to counter-act the "TOS breakers" or it could be because of some government act like SOPA is lurking around the corner and ff.net want's to look nice and clean. You may want to ignore the last comment but I may be a little paranoid.

SOPA is always around the corner. I share your thoughts on the situation. After everything is upgraded, they will check it more. but it will turn back to what it used to be. only with some of the better writers somewhere else. So far my favs have been untouched. Apart from all the updates, which turned out to be petition stuff and notices.

Well, I hate the new layout - I can't read the stories on half-a-browser-screen any more. Usually the stories would shrink to accommodate that, but they don't any more. And I'm wearing glasses so I can't read the little text so well.

The layout is not my favorite new development either. The only thing i have enjoyed so far is the fact that the database is sorted on popularity right from the beginning.

Apart from all the updates, which turned out to be petition stuff and notices. Same with my favorite stories. I had other favs saved on my favorites in IE9 and so far about 14 stories are gone but they were kinda old or unfinished. Also the new layout is kinda aggravating now but I can get used to it. Although the summaries are sort of difficult to make out on my laptop.

And I'm wearing glasses so I can't read the little text so well. They're still ironing out details of the new layout; they'll probably incorporate that, eventually. I suggest complaining to support about that, just in case.

They're deleting everything and they are giving bogus reasons. Like saying you have a song fic when you don't or for me something about a chat transcript? I don't even know what it means except that I'm done with fanfic.

So, it seems that they changed the format again. This time around there is only 2 inches of white space instead of the 4 inches that it was previously. I still can't say I enjoy it but it is more managable then before. The summaries also seem to be slightly larger then they were before.

Personally, I miss the old page format. It was just fine the way it was! : ( And the Image Manager isn't that special... the images are pretty small.

I dislike the images, they are either blank, the writer's personal picture or some other random picture... and you have to have the rights...
Why did they even change it to popularity? I rather liked the alphabet version...
I want the old format back...

At least now it seems like the writing shrinks with the window so you don't have to side scroll. Or it was when I was at work.
