I'm pulling out of the RtB world. I give up, also I'm stuck with the stories I have wrote.
Unless they actually become legal, I'm quiting. I'll still be around on here and I'll also still write other fanfiction. I'm actually thinking of persuing the story ideas that I posted on another thread. the ones that don't have the chapter text or anything, but still have them learning what happened during Harry's years at Hogwarts.
I'm also looking at starting original stories and would like to focus on that as well.
this isn't all about what is happening with the stories and I will still read the ones that are still being updated. I definately would like to be on mailing lists.
Again, I'm sorry, but I'm tired of running around and don't feel like emailing them anymore.

Don't feel sorry! We'll miss your writing, but it's your choice. Wish you good luck on whatever path you choose!

I probably make a non-RtB place here and post my other HP fanfics here. I'm also on wattpad. I'm not to happy with FFNET anymore, though I will stay there since I have so many favs.
I might post some originals on Mibba and on Fictionpress.

I hear you. And I get what you are feeling right now. If I had been further in my story, I might have made the same decision. If you need help with original stories, feel free to ask me (I've had quite a bit of experience writing those) ;D By the way: You do know that the purge is also going on at fictionpress. Right? People just don't seem to scream so loud about it, but there are hundreds of stories 'dissappearing' there, too. All because of: Author's notes, non-K-rated summaries, or MA-rated scenes. I heard that some even were deleted for cursewords (because there was a potty-mouthed character in the story...) If I was you, I'd stay away from there, too. (Yourfanfiction actually has a category for original fiction. I was thinking of uploading my own stories there, too...)

I love fantasy so that is where I'm head genre wise in my original writing. When I was younger (so weird to say that), probably around age thirteen, I wrote a pretty good story and had about 6 or 7 chapter. I lost it a few years ago and I can't find the girl who I was trading chapters with over email. Thanks for the heads up about fictionpress, probably would have gone to Mibba anyway. It's actually not too hard to leave since I hadn't gotten too into writing the RtBs, I only have one chapter finished of one and three and a half of another. I might actually finish them, just to show that I can. If this situation is made right and we can post them, I will probably come back and make them public again.

I still have it, and although the writing style is horrible the premise is actually not so bad. It's based on the idea that aliens kidnaped people from Earth to fight for them in some kind of war, and that now years later, the descendants of these kidnapped humans returned to Earth, because the war is threatening to spread to there, too. I have no clue, how I even came up with that idea. Or where all the characters came from (there were dozens!). Or if I'm ever going to actually write the story (back then, I actually finished 5 or 6 chapters). But it's nice to still have it. It shows how far I've come and where I began. If you still know the main idea of your story, maybe you could write it anew. It would change anyway if you were to edit it to fit your current level of writing ability. So, why not make a completely fresh start?

That idea sounds very similar to Stargate. In that there are humans who were taken from earth, but not to fight, to be slaves instead, and the main characters go and visit the planets the descendants of those humans were taken to, and try to free them. Just thought I'd let you know, because I know that not many people are into Stargate.

I know Stargate. Am a big fan actually.
But I had my idea years before Emmerich came along with that movie. ;D (yet another proof that Hollywood copies my ideas!) *rofl*

I wish I could do sci-fi, but my brain is wired for middle earth type stories or something like that.

I was into Sci-Fi big time as a kid. And a total Trekkie on top of it. Over the years, I grew tired of Star Trek (and most other Sci-Fi stuff - except Stargate). But I never really got the hang of high fantasy like LotR. Don't know why. I have friends (mostly boys) who are totally into the whole elfs, dwarves, orcs, etc... thing. But it's just not me. Maybe, because most of these stories are 'pawn"-stories... I really dislike those. I do like some low fantasy stuff, though. (Mostly if it's steampunk)

The strange thing is, I have no use for fantasy in itself. But I love LotR and HP. Any attempts to read other fantasy failed. Badly.

What is the difference between high and low fantasy? Never heard of those categories.

High Fantasy is those fantasy along the lines of LotR. It's ususally set in an imaginary world, and features things like magic, elves, dwarves, dragons, whole made-up societies, etc...
Low Fantasy only features a few select parts of it, and the stories are nearly always set in a variant version of our normal Earth. Examples are: The Dresden Files Series, True Blood, or even Harry Potter.

It's not completely clear. Genre classifications never are.
Personally, I would count King Arthur and Beowulf and all those stories as myths - not as fantasy stories.
Things like the BBC series "Merlin" would be High Fantasy imo. Because it is not set in our world. Simple as that. The medieval setting is so far away from our reality (or indeed the medieval reality) that it might as well be a completely imaginary world.
Low Fantasy usually really has only a small portion of the supernatural seeping into a non-magical world. Or at least a world in which the majority of the people do not believe in magic!
A second part of the definition is that "high" fantasy is often "shiny2 and over-the-top. While "low" fantasy is often "gritty" with settings in which life is short and fame equals notoriety.
There are, of course, a lot of stories that are set somewhere in between these extremes...

Oh, there's nothing wrong with Middle-earth. I should know after living there part-time for the last 9 and a half year ;D Looks like we both found our love of Middle Earth at about the same time. My mom read The Hobbit to my back in 2003, when I was eight. She started reading LotR over the next two. So yes, I was ten when I first heard the story and read LotR the next year when I was eleven. Mountaingirl: I am sorry to hear that as I really enjoyed both of your stories, especially the Trewlawney one. I do look forward to seeing what you come up with original story wise. Also, I am still open for being a Beta if you ever need one.

I'm also going to still work on the RtBs I've started, but not give them to the public anymore. Gonna do that for my own benefit as I hate starting something and not finishing. Like I said, I might come back if they say these stories are ok to write.

Looks like we both found our love of Middle Earth at about the same time. My mom read The Hobbit to my back in 2003, when I was eight. She started reading LotR over the next two. So yes, I was ten when I first heard the story and read LotR the next year when I was eleven. Yes, looks like it! For me it took a little detour, though. Back in the 1990's (can't remember when exactly) I tried to read LotR, but more as a 'must know', as I wasn't into fantasy. The beginning bored me - Concerning Hobbits - and I gave up around Bilbo's party. Then I fell into the HP fandom, and in my HP forum, they were all talking about LotR in 2002. I was getting curious. Plus, my colleague said I'd like the movies, but wouldn't understand without reading the books (remember, I'm deaf and wouldn't get what was said in the movie). So, finally I made a deal with my friend on the HP board - Tolkien vs. Gabaldon. So, she had to read the first Gabaldon book and I at least the Hobbit, preferably LotR too. I got the Hobbit, liked it, borrowed LotR from my colleague and started reading. That was Saturday afternoon. Halfway through FotR, I was already lost in Middle-earth. Wednesday evening I finished RotK and started straight over ... the power of the One Ring Then my colleague invited me to watch FotR on DVD. Now I tend to get fidgety when I have to watch TV more than a hour, but there I watched enthralled for 3 hours and would have started over if it hadn't been so late already ... Next week, we went to watch TTT in the theatre, and when RotK came out, we did the 'triple feature' - 5-8pm FotR, 8.30-11.30 TTT, 12-3.20am RotK. And if they'd have had the sensibility to show RotK at 4am again, we'd have gone again straight away Well, and as there wasn't enough in books from the good Professor, I had to find fanfictions. That way I at least learned English - and found so many friends online all over the world.

I've never been big into Lord of the Rings or science fiction. It's strange because I love magic. I love it when people control the elements or summon beings from the inside of their hearts. It's why I love Avatar the Last Airbender and Kingdom Hearts so much.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone would like to take on my stories. I would give it all to you, you put your name on it not mine. Call it your idea.
I would give you the chapters I have done and the idea of the stories. one is "Future from the Past" and the other is "Book of Assurance". Future from the Past is the whole book series and Book of Assurance is just one huge story. You don't have to take them all, you can take one or the other. They can be split between people.
I would love to see these posted again and see them thrive, which they wouldn't with me anyway. I guess this whole situation gave me the door of freedom for me in a way. I've been wanting to quit writing these, but I felt bad about just leaving everyone hanging and would push myself to write, which would wind up making the chapter sound crappie. This whole situation came up and I finally took the opportunity and went with it.
The whole "I live on a christian base and this would be bad rep for everyone if legal action is take" still stands as another reason why I quit, the whole thing above was another reason as well, don't think I lied and put the christianity thing as an excuse, both are excuses.
please message me if you would like to have more info about the stories to see if you want to take them on.
