It's really sad how they get away with that all. Btw, I've told FFN admin to delete our shared account and why - of course, no reply and the account is still there. They are really not doing their job - an admin is there to help people and to make sure they behave. FFN is doing nothing they should!

Back when this forum started, I would sometimes go off on a rant about this guy on FFnet who put up pornographic materials and such on his profile page and all that. He literally asked to get banned from FFnet. I reported him a few different times, each time I got a bit more insistent on how this guy needed to get the boot now, and my last time could have been considered a bit rude, admittedly. I got a reply back from them - in mid-August.
Yea, for all that they did back then with other rulebreaking, they're really not that consistent. I bet RtBs could possibly make a comeback right now...

Juniper Potter is up (for the third time) and has been left alone so far. I think as long as you change the title and the summary you'll probably get away with it.

The person who threatened to report mine still hasn't.. So I think they forgot. I did tell them I'm not taking it down... Ah well, whatever.

My guess is some of them may have finally gotten warnings and so are backing off. Either that or they've found a new crusade.

About time, if you are right. People like that are over time destroying a website. Let's cross our fingers and hope things calm down now.

I hope they have moved on, because it was depressing finding out that stories I liked had been deleted. It was annoying as hell too, especially when I wanted to reread a story only to discover that it had been deleted.

No they haven't moved on, in fact the LU and fanfic renaissance have jumped on their crusade if the reviews left for the stag patronus' story is any indication

And they get all bitchy when they get called out on it and are offended because of the hate against the CU Saw something along that line in a review somewhere.

So I went to the CU forum to see what they were up to. One of the boards was about "offenders" this is what it said "Welcome. This thread is for CU members only. Please refrain from posting in this thread if you are not a member. Non-members posting here risk a temporary or even a permanent ban. Rules for CU members: 1) Three review limit: If a member reviews a story and brings it to Siv that counts as one review. If two other members followed up with reviews of their own that would count as reviews two and three. After that, members should not review and simply report the rule-breaking story. Please try to check if a story already has three CU reviews so we don't appear to be ganging up on someone. *Note: additional instructions about this rule may be added by mods in particular posts. 2) Stories should only be posted in SiV by members if: The author replies poorly. You find that you are blocked and could not review They update it and ignore your review. They update other works. *Note: if the author doesn't reply or update, then the reviewer should just monitor quietly and see if the author eventually update said story or another story on their account. There are no time limits as to how long one can wait till they can bring it in here. We do not want our members to be eager beavers in bringing the group in on a story. Feel free to PM any of the mods if you have any questions or let us know about your doubts in the Q&A thread. Thanks." Since I didn't post on it, I still followed the rules. what do you all think?

They are still cyberbullies they're just trying to cover their tracks better. Also they have absorbed the group known as fanfiction renaissance so they are even bigger now. Although it does look like RtBs are making a comeback on the site.

Indeed. They managed to kick out most of the good and popular stories. Few have survived the purge. The really bad ones were never in danger, or at least that's my impression. Tried to read some new stories, but barely got beyond the first chapter. By now I know too many really good ones to compare them to, so my standards are a bit too high for these.

I totally know what you mean i have read some but i have only found maybe one or two that are any good at all. *Sigh* I hope that some good authors go back to writing them.

I have only found two really good ones (one of which is from yff so not really new) that I am excited about among the crop of new stories but seeing more RtBs fics popping up gives me hope that some of my favorites that weren't continued in mailing lists or live journal will come back to ffn and continue their stories.

The bad ones aren't in as much danger because they aren't known, compared to the good ones where they had thousands of followers and reviews. [What I just said sounded better and made no sense in my head...]

It makes perfect sense, don't worry. Glad I am not the only one who got the feeling that they only went after the popular stories.

These popular stories are both a blessing and a curse for the authors who wrote them. On the one hand they are enjoyed, but on the other hand they are targeted and some are now being stolen by other authors and reuploaded onto ff.net.

That story stealing is something that makes me really angry. It's disgusting that some people do that and try to pass these stories off as their own work!

Same, but what makes me even angier is when they reply saying that the original author has stolen from them or that they didn't mean to do it.

True, it's even worse if they try to twist the truth so badly. And not meaning to do it? Sorry, it can happen that you formulate something like someone else at parts where pretty much everyone did use the same lines, just because it sounds so natural, or that you accidentally put something similar to someone else once in a while; I think that happens easier with RtB fics. But not meaning to copy the whole text word for word? *snort* I'll believe that when Hermione's playing Quidditch for England!

I know it happened quite a lot with Azelia Silmarwen's stories, she got quite annoyed about it.

Last one I know of was Little Wise Witch, IIRC. And didn't someone copy Ginnyrules' Quidditch players read stories, without even bothering to change the title?

They might have done, yeah. I know somebody copied mine in around May, but luckily CU got to it before I did.

While it's some sort of sign that your story was good that they bothered to steal it and repost it under their own name, that still doesn't make it right. It's really annoying.
An author I know wrote her own book (not fanfiction, but fantasy) and published it as e-book. When she googled it about three days later, she already found it illegally uploaded elsewhere ...

That's really bad sadly though, people seem to think that once something's out here they can do what they want with it, even if it often doesn't work that way.

That is horrible, now that I know I'll keep an eye out and if I see anyone's story being copied I will try to get in touch with the real author and let them know.

Yes, it was sad. Particularly as said author lost money that way. She contacted the site and got it taken down, but I don't want to even guess how many times it was stolen already. And has been since then.
And yes, Blackrose, that would be good to do. It's just not fair when others earn the praise for their hard work.

I know it happened quite a lot with Azelia Silmarwen's stories, she got quite annoyed about it. She had it stolen 3 times, word for word [even her spelling and grammer mistakes were copied]. Though she wasn't annoyed, she was furious. She let the first one off easily, the second one was smart enough to delete the story before Azaelia got to her [someone else must have had a go at her] and the third one [LittleWiseWitch] I got to first and told advised her to remove it otherwise i'd tell Az and she told me that she wasn't copying and that it was from another author. I think a week later I told Az and she pm'ed her... a day later it was deleted. I don't envy anyone who tries to copy it again. But I have a question, is LittleWiseWitch still writing it secretly, does anyone know? Becuase I went to her profile, after the story was deleted and she had updated it, however, it still says that it is a WIP.
