Amelia was relieved the boy was coming along. She hoped Vicky didn't see her. She was forever after Amelia to marry, and if she saw her walking with some stranger, she'd tell everybody! Then she'd never get to leave the house again.
"It's towards the Blue Tavern and out to the Forest," said Amelia quickly, "Just follow me."

"No problem." Joshua grinned. For some reason, Amelia looked nervous. "By the way, was that boy you hid from earlier your brother? He certainly looked like you."

"Yes," said Amelia, making a face. "He wants to be a Hunter. He's rather, exuberant, to say the least. I have three older brothers. How about you two?"

"I'm an only child." Joshua shrugged. "I dread to think what would happen if my parents have any other children, they barely care about me."

Amelia frowned at those words. Her parents doted on her, despite the fact that she was a girl. That didn't seem right at all to her. "That's horrible," said Amelia, "I'm sorry. They don't know what a kind man you are, I'm sure if they did they'd love you."

Joshua laughed humourlessly.
"They dont care about kindness, they care about money and family honour."
There was a crack from behind him and he spun around, only to find nothing there.
"Did you hear that?"

"No, I heard nothing," said Amelia, frowning. She wasn't used to being on the streets and conversing like this. "And I'm sorry about your parents. My parents aren't like that at all."

"It doesnt matter, I might just be hearing things." Joshua frowned. "And you're lucky, trust me. I'm not too bothered most of the time though. It gives me time to practise with my sword, and they probably wouldn't approve of that."

"Sometimes I wish my parents would leave me alone," said Amelia, knowing it sounded brattish, "Or my entire family. The house is small, and my three brothers, my sister-in-law, and her two children live with us. My second brother is betrothed aleady and soon we'll have another kid when Vicky gives birth again. I barely get time to myself to prac- I mean, to-to sing."
She had almost said practice magic! She hadn't realised how easy it was to speak with Sir Joshua, and mentally scolded herself. Just because he was nice, and accepted witches and wizards, didn't make him a friend!

"I'm lucky in that way." Joshua smiled. "I basically have the house to myself, my parents tend to stay to certain parts of the house so I just avoid them."
He glanced at Amelia, and was startled to see that she looked rather panicked.
"It's okay, you know." he said, trying to comfort her. "Id like a big, crowded family."

Amelia smiled, glad he didn't think she'd spoken strangely, "If you have three older brothers, we'll talk. If they even caught me looking in your dieection, or vice versa, they'd throw a fit. Nevermind if we're just having a friendly conversation."

Joshua laughed.
"It's a good job I can fight then, isn't it?" he teased.

"i suppose it is," said Amelia with a smile, "Though don't say I never warned you! If it helps, my mother and Vicky may decide to like you, if you win them over, then the other three can't do anything."

"So you're planning on seeing more of me, then." Joshua smiled. "Besides, I'm an upper class citizen, they're not allowed to hate me. My fathers status does come in handy sometimes, you know."

"That's true," conceded Amelia, before freezing for a moment and then continuing, "Well, if you wish to come around, I can't stop you, now can I?"
In truth, she was surprised he wanted to visit her more often. And she felt guilty knowing she was planning to run away soon. It was the best she could do for her family, after all.

"I guess you can't. I could always be tutoring you in the ways of the upper classes so that you may have a husband if your father asks." Joshua was pleased that he had somebody to joke around with, but couldn't help but notice how worried Amelia looked. Was he upsetting her?

"Marriage," said Amelia with a shudder, "I doubt I'll ever marry. Nobody would want me with my crazy family, and my own.. Oddities. I'll enjoy your lessons, it might be interesting to have a noble for a friend."
She couldn't marry. How could she let a man love her, only to betray him when he discovered she was a witch?

"I don't particularly like the idea either. Can you imagine? Anyway, theyd probably only marry me for my money anyway."

"At least you know why they'd want to marry you! I'll always have to wonder why, for the dowry, or if my brothers threatened them!" said Amelia, as they reached the Blue Tavern. Not to far away now.

"They wouldn't," said Amelia softly, knowing know one would love her for being a witch. Her own family wouldn't accept her, they hated witches!

"Thomas, the news is true!" John shouted as he ran into the Tubridy home. "What are we going to do?"
Thomas Tubridy turned to his brother and gave a sinister smile. "Don't you worry John, I'll sort something out" Thomas then turned towards Lizzie Tubridy and asked her to look after the younger children whilst he went to the castle.

"Is this your house?" Joshua said, coming to a stop. There's somebody in the window looking rather angry, so I'm guessing it could be."

Amelia looked to the farm, just past the Blue Tavern, and sure enough, Vicky's angry head poked out the window. She probably wanted her to come help with the kids.
"Home sweet home," said Amelia dryly, "Would you like to come in?"

"Just smile and nod, if she wants to scream, it'll be at me," said Amelia back conspiratorially, "She's pregnant currently, so she's dangerous." ((Let's move to the homes thread from here )

Rylan whistled as he pushed the cart of turnips that his younger sisters had harvested just the day before toward the village. All he had to do was sell them, and pick up flour for his Mum. The Quakestens hadn't discovered about the decree quite yet, they hadn't had a need to go into town for the past few days, so now Rylan saw quite a few groups of people, gossiping to one another, Privately, he wondered what it was all about. "Rylan!" called out Robert, rushing to where his old friend was. He could see he was selling the turnips, and didnxmt particularly care that his friend was working. For a boy of eighteen, he made quite a bit of noise as he ran. He didn't notice Amelia hiding behind something as he rushed to his friend. "Rylan! Guess what?! I found myself a job!"

Annalise Lestrange crossed the square, looking around for any signs of danger. She hadn't experienced any here before, but she guessed that with the new degree, people would be keen to point fingers wherever possible. One hand was in her pocket, wrapped tightly around her wand to ensure it was still there.
Finally, she spotted who she was looking for, and smiled.
"Henry!" she called, walking over.
