Henry was standing by the Blue Tavern, talking to a homeless bum about the pleasures of alcohol, when he heard a cry. He turned with a grin to see Annalise Lestrange. She'd obviously be here on a day like this one. He gave the bum a goodbye, and waved Annalise into the Tavern. Once they were seated in a booth, he began to talk.
"It's great to see you again, my dear. How are your parents?" asked Henry with a smile.

"They're as good as they could be under the circumstances, I guess." Annalise sighed. "Worried about me. How are you?"

"Travelling, as always," said Henry, "I'm working on a new song again. Shall we order a meal? I'm famished, and you're paying, a lovely deal, isn't it? A pity our circumstances can't match."

"I'd love to listen to it sometime." Annalise smiled. "and yes, a meal. What do you want? Father gave me some money."

"I'll have some boar's leg with gruel," said Henry with a shrug, "As for the song, I don't know if anyone will hear it, my dear. With things the way they are, I'll have to defend myself first before completing it. What's your family planning?"

"Well, they hate the idea of fighting, so I think they're going to try and stay out of it as much as possible, I think. I might try and be a healer, I'm good at it, after all. I hear some families are planning on running, though..."

Henry nodded grimly at the news. He hadn't expected anything different after all. He rubbed his temples, and excused himself to go place an order. When he returned the thin scholar faced Annalise with a serious expression, "Have you spoken to your parents about your desire to join the war, even if it means a back job? Have they agreed? Who else knows but me?"

"I haven't spoken to them yet. The decree only came out this morning, and I want to leave it a few days, let it sink in slightly. You're the first person I've spoken to it about. I wouldnt be able to just sit at home, not knowing that i could help out. There arent many out there who can heal like me, you know that." Annalise sighed, running a hand through her hair.

Henry nodded at her words. Annalise had always been a sensible young woman. He sighed as his meal arrived, and thanked the waiter with a charming smile. "Think I'd have stood a chance with him?" joked Henry quietly, before resuming his sober attitude, "I fear this decree won't be the last, my dear. If that's the situation, then we must take action. Our people are scattered, not to mention the muggleborns don't stand a chance. I beloved I nay have met one today, she took the decree with nervousness. People like us, we need to prepare. I've been considering taking the reigns myself to help."

"I'm afraid I know him from the village and he's very happily married." Annalise smiled, appreciating the momentary lift in the mood."But I agree with you about the decrees. One has been passed, I'm sure that the muggles will think others are a good idea. You would be a good leader you know, people listen to you. I for one would be quite happy to support you, and I'm sure many others would too."

"If I'm going to lead, however, I need a strong backing," said Henry seriously, "I'll need places to set up havens for our people, I'll need others like myself to help train refugees and look after them. I plan to go looking for refugees, Annalise, and I can't offer them hope unless I have hopes to offer them."

"I may not be equipped for training, Henry, but you know I'd be willing to help out on the health side of things. And we own a place on the outskirts of town, if that would help? It's not big on the comforts, but it's large, and out of the way of prying eyes."

"That would be marvellous," said Henry with relief. "I'm trying to gather as many supporters as I can. We may have magic on our side, but it won't be enough. Muggles out number us greatly. I plan to travel and see how many people I can gather. When should we begin transforming your home into a refugee camp?"

"Whenever you want to, I'm positive my parents won't mind. They gave it to me as a space to use how I wish, and this is how I wish to use it." Annalise said. "I think I have some magical items at home I could bring down as well, that might help."

"Would they know you're doing this?" asked Henry, raising an eyebrow at the young woman. "You know I'd never ask you to go behind their backs. In fact, I'd rather prefer you not to. As for magical items, I'm thinking we see things such as heaking items, dark detectors, and sensory items. We'd need to be careful how we go about this, since it's near the town. Would you be okay with addinf enchantments?"

"They let me make my own decisions. As long as I'm not killing muggles, which they really wouldn't agree with, they'll be fine. I'll have no problem with the healing items, of course, and I should be able to find some sensory equipment, but I'll struggle with the dark detectors. And as for the enchantments...that should be no problem."

"That's wonderful!" said Henry, smiling for the first time in their conversation, "I can't wait to get started. We won't have a lot of time, however. The King is calling for all Witch Hunters to arrive to the grounds by the end of the month to begin training. We'll need to completely redo your home to make it fit for many. And even with magic, I suspect we'll take a month to complete it. What we really need is spies, people we can use to monitor the muggles, I'm hardly enough."

"I don't really know anybody suitable as a spy, I'm sorry. But I'm sure my family will be willing to help us get the house ready in time, that shouldnt pose much of a problem."

"That'll be more than enough," said Henry warmly, "I can't expect you to have all the answers. Is there anything you can possibly suggest, or have we covered it all?"

"I think so. I'm working on some new medicines that may help us out, but I'm not there yet, so I'll let you know. You must let me know what's going on!"

"Of course I shall, my dear," said Henry as he began eating his meal, "I plan to write several papers on this decree. They'll be cleverly disguised as messages. I know you're far too young to run a camp on your own, but perhaps as more witches and wizards arrive, you'll be able to find help. I was thinking to communicate you should keep an eye out for my songs and papers, since I can't guarantee an owl."

"That's not a problem, I can do that." Annalise smiled. "My father gets all of them anyway, as you know, I'll just remember to keep a look out for the messages."

"That's perfect! And I'm sure you'll catch on, my dear," said Henry with a smile, "It's not like I'm the most secretive person in the world. I tend to leave my messages in the open, after all."

"That's true. If I'm honest, I relish the idea the idea of the challenge. It's a very good idea, by the way, like hiding in plain sight. I like it." Annalise smiled.

"You flatter an old man," said Henry with a laugh, as he pretended to rub his sore back, "But yes. It's often what's the most obvious that both muggles and wizards tendto ignore. I reported it in my last paper, you know dear?"

"Yes, I saw that one." Annalise smiled. "But on a serious note, I should be able to make the house habitable in the next few days if possible. Then, you can start bringing people down."

"Well, I'm still in town for a few days, so if you require any help, do ask," said Henry, "When it's ready, I'll cast my own set of wards."

"My mother would be proud, she always said my music was useless," mused Henry with a reminiscent smile. "I've been rather impolite, would you like some of my lunch? As well, speaking of food, how are we going to have food brought to your home? I can ask the refugees to bring as much livestock and produce as they own, but animals and grains will need seperate storage."

"That's certainly a problem, yes. I have no idea how we can get round that. Any ideas? We have some livestock, but not enough."
