she adored him as a child, he could never do wrong in her eyes but then her mum died and james started to change, to the point of the Decree..

Just to clarify, the Decree isn't because he hates witches, he's doing it out of genuine concern that they're a threat. Later on in the RP, he'll start to hate them. He's not evil or like Maxwell.
