Amelia smiled a bit at that, relieved to hear of Rylan's differences from Robby. However, a small frown appeared after, and she asked, "It must be lonely being the only boy. I get lonely plenty of times in my family, and I live with Robby." Well, because I'm a witch too, she thought quietly to herself. "But it's sweet that you take care of your sisters. Do all brothers act like that? My brothers have near heart attacks when Vicky suggests things like boys and c-cour-courting," continued Amelia, blushing a bit as she realized what she was saying to a boy meant to court her! "But then, it's not like anything's ever come off it besides an argument and Kent sleeping on the floor."
Outside, Robby was frowning to himself. He'd never thought Amy was lonely at all. He and his brothers were all extremely protective of Amy, sometimes cutting her away from the world, but he'd thought she was alright with it. Not to mention Amy was so quiet that she'd never befriended anyone, besides Joshua, and Robby had his suspicions on Joshua. However, he and Vicky and the entire family always were there for Amy. So why would she feel lonely?

"It can be a bit lonely, but with the work, my sisters and Robby, I don't have a lot of time to think about how I'd like a brother, Robby's as good as." He agreed, thinking of the few times he'd wanted a brother. Vaguely, he remembered his disappoint when his three younger sisters turned out to be girls rather then the boys he'd been wanting.
Rylan nodded, oblivious to Amelia's slight discomfort when she accidentally delved back into the topic of courting. "I imagine that is how all brother's are. It's a brother's job to keep his sister safe, and that includes from heart break." He gave her another smile as his hands concentrated on the dough, "Which is why, I'd imagine, he's decided to try and match us up and make sure you get what he considers a good guy. He's just being a big brother... I know when my sisters seriously start looking for someone, I'd rather it be someone I approve of, heaven knows I'll be bringing a few lads by for them to look at."

Amelia blushed brightly at Rylan's words, nodding along as she did. She could understand where Rylan was coming from, it was just, there were so many things that were an issue. She turned to Rylan, and bit her lower lip as she replied, "It's not that I don't appreciate what he's doing, or where he's coming from, it's just, I'd like to think I can do things on my own. Robby, Kent, Johnny, they've always been beside me, trying to keep me safe and happy. It's just- They don't try and understand that I need my space. I want to be able to find someone who likes me for me, all of me, not just because my brothers asked them to court me, be- begging your pardon!"

(No problem! Though that sounds so weird, Thanksgiving for me isn't for another month!)
Rylan choose not to argue, and nodded. "I guess that's where my experience cuts off. I have so many sisters, there's not possible way I could get too much in their space, so I can't say I relate." Then he smiled,
"As I said before, if you'd be willing, I would like to get to know the real you, as I'd like you to get to know me. If it turns out we're not compatible, by all means, I will step away and leave you be. Though I will admit, from the little we've spoken so far, you do seem to be quite the lady."

((Lol, well, Canadian one just ended )) Amelia turned a bright red, and she stared at Rylan with wide eyes. She'd never been complimented in a courting sense before, and it made her uneasy and happy at the same time. While Rylan seemed like a nice guy, she couldn't let him enter a relationship with her when she was- was- a witch. It wasn't fair to him. However, she couldn't find a response to his compliment, and instead pushed back a loose strand of hair, lost for words. "Who knew you could be so smooth, Ry?" murmured Robby, a wide grin on his face, and he was itching to just peer at Amelia's expression. "T- Tha- Thank you," she muttered quickly, trying to concentrate on the dough she was kneading rather than Rylan, "I- Thank you. I- I do-don't mind ge- get- getting to know you, t- too." That was fine right? It wasn't bad if she and Rylan talked, and she didn't have to reject him and face the questions why, right? Yes, she'd just get to know Rylan, and then suggest they stay friends later on.

Rylan gave her a smile and a nod before following her lead and returning to the dough that he had momentarily paused in his kneading. He was silent for a few moments, unsure as to what to say. He'd noticed that his sisters never seemed to enjoy silence and always enjoyed mindless chatter, so he hoped he was right in assuming Amelia would like chatter as well.
"So, you may or may have not heard that your brother has nearly roped me into the Witch Hunter's with him." He was completely unaware that this was likely to be a touchy subject, and his tone was nonchalant.

Joshua a tiny groan. Well, wasn't that just perfect for Amelia.

Amelia didn't say anything at first. Her eyes went wide, and she stopped kneading the dough. She stared at Rylan for a minute, her mouth forming a tiny o in response to his words. She didn't know what to say, and she looked rather panicked. Her throat went dry, and she almost began to shake. A part of her wanted to laugh, and that's what happened. A strangled giggle escaped her throat. The situation was humorous after all. Her brother a witch hunter, the first man to court her, a witch hunter, and she, a witch. Maybe it wasn't so humorous after all.
"Di-Did he now?" she asked, trying to calm herself as she went and drank some water. To take water, it was simply dipping a bowl into a bucket and sipping. Once she was calmed, she turned to Rylan, "Th- That's simply spl-splendid! H-How did he do it?"

Her reaction completely derailed Rylan. He had been relying a bit on Robby's advice to impress her, (Later he would wonder what possessed him to listen to Robby's advice, never a wise thing to do.) So he watched her, with a bit of a confused expression as she giggled and got a drink of water. One she calmed down, he dismissed her question and instead asked one of his own.
"What do you think of the witch hunters then?"

"W-What do I think?" she stammered, a bit taken aback. She considered the question, trying to find the right answer. Outside, Robby was taken aback by the behavior Amelia displayed. A little annoyed, he wondered if his baby sister was looking down on him for joining a career, since she was laughing after all.
"I- I don't really think about it much," said Amelia, "I- I just worry. It's not safe, you know?" That was as close to the truth as Amelia would share with a Witch Hunter. She didn't want to admit that it wasn't safe for her, or that her worries were about what would happen to her and Robby now. "Wh-Why did you join, be-besides Robby?"

This made sense to Rylan- it was only natural she'd be worried for her brother, after all. It must have been nervous giggles. Giving her a smile, he nodded in understanding. "Don't you worry about your brother, I'll make sure he doesn't do anything to stupid and get himself killed." When she asked him why he joined again, he shrugged.
"It's good pay, I suppose. Anyways, it's a nice chance to get out and have a bit of adventure before I settle down. I don't care much for the witches and warlocks themselves, but if they're causing problems and hurting us normal folk like I've been hearing, then we can't exactly let them carry on, can we?"

"Th- That's hard to do," said Amelia. She glanced at Rylan in worry. He was rather nice after all, and the idea that he'd watch over Robby was both a relief and a cause to worry. "D- Don't strain yourself too much! Rob- Robby's an idiot, and I'd rather know you didn't hurt yourself trying to keep him safe for me."
However, his second set of words make her her frown as she began to roll the dough into buns and lead them over to the fire. She began to unhook the steel pot for soup, which was rather heavy. "I- I sup-suppose that's true. I can't- I mean- I wouldn't know. Do- Are- Will you- Willtheydie?" She scrambled to get the words out quickly, her face pale as she lifted the pot, in her hands, struggling to keep it balanced as she began to move it over to the counter.

Rylan rolled his eyes, "Don't worry about me neither, I'll just keep him in check, for both your sake and the sake of myself."
As he considered how to respond, Rylan realized that Amelia was a bit like his younger sister's- all of which had squealed and cried the first time they saw an animal killed for food. It took a great deal to calm them down- they understood the necessity, but simply didn't like it. Perhaps that how Amelia thought of it. Rylan was much phased himself with they idea of killing a witch of wizard- as long as he knew they were doing wrong, he would be able to put an end to their wrath. Not that he needed Amelia to know all this- she already didn't like the idea.
"Well, I won't go out of my way to kill them. We're supposed to try and capture them first, which does bring more pay anyway. If they cause trouble and we can't catch them... Well, we'll have to kill them. That's of course, if we can. I've never met a magical person before, but I can guess it would be difficult."

"Difficult? Oh probably," she said squeakily, as she thought of how weak her own magic was. She'd be far too easy to kill if she was caught. Trembling, she stepped forward, and the pot fell from her hands. It hit her foot, and she cried out in pain. Gasping as her eyes watered, she grimaced as she tripped backwards. Her eyes watered, and she reached down to clutch her foot. That was most definitely a mistake as she cried out again and it hurt more. She had no idea what she'd done to herself.
Outside, Robby jumped at hearing Amelia's shriek. What had she done?! He immediately stood up and in panic, rushed to go make sure she was okay.

Joshua jumped up too, frowning. He had learnt already how clumsy Amelia was...

The moment the pot fell, Rylan cursed under his breath and he moved to try and keep Amelia from falling. He pulled her back away from the hot water that was now on the floor. Seeing how hurt her foot was, Rylan moved to place her to sit on the table, inwardly thanking how he had gained plenty of strength to pick her up during his many years on the farm.
Gingerly holding her wrist to look at Amelia's hand, he asked urgently, "Are you alright?" Unfortunetly, he wasn't very good in the medical area. If he ever got hurt, or one of his sisters, it was his mother who took care of it. The most he could do was clean cuts and bandage them. He had no knowledge of burns.

Amelia's eyes were filled with tears. Her hands had been burnt as the water splashed upwards to her. They were red and scalded. Her toe hurt like anything, and every time she tried to wiggle it, it hurt more and that made her cry harder. Her ears were ringing, and the hot water was on her dress, touching her skin and making everything hurt. Curse that blasted pot.
"I-It hurts," she whimpered, as Rylan's hand held hers. "I-I think I- my foot- it hurts a lot! The water-hot!" She hated that she sounded so weak and feeble, but she'd never hurt herself like this before. Why did she have to be so incompetent?
"Is everything okay?!" cried Robby, as he swung open the door. He came barraging in, and the moment he set his eyes on Amelia, and the pot, he glanced to Rylan for an explanation, his fists clenched as he looked for a medium to take his anger out on.

Gently letting go of Amelia's hand as she mentioned her foot, he looked down at it. The big toe had a cut and was bloody, and a bit crooked. Even he could tell is was likely broken. Looking up, he saw Robby enter. "She was holding a pot and the water splashed her hands- it fell and hit her foot." He explained quickly, looking for a rag. He snatched one up and wet it lightly from the water they had been using with the dough, checking to make sure it wasn't hot as well. He did the only thing he could think of and gently tried to wipe away the blood.
"Is there someone you can call for help?" He asked, a bit angry with himself. His mother had tried to teach him a bit about healing people, but he'd never been interested. Serves him right that it was necessary now.

Joshua went dashing into the house after Robby, and rushed to Amelia's side.
"There's a nurse in the town who isn't that expensive. I could take you?" He said, worried.

"I- I'll get Vicky," said Robby with a nod, and a scowl at Joshua's words. Vicky lacked any kind of healing training, but he didn't want to accept Joshua's offer.
"Get me where?" asked a woman, walking in from the hall. She looked tired and her blonde hair mussed. Immediately her eyes widened as she took in the scene, and she glanced around. "What happened?!"
As Robby explained the story, the pregnant woman moved and heaved the pot up. Her sons, scared by the sudden drop of the pot, rushed to her skirt, so Robby took it from her and moved it aside. She glanced at them all, and sighed.
"A nurse is the best idea. I couldn't help anyways. I'll finish making the buns. One of you will need to ride with her. Why don't the three of you take her down? I'll clean up over here," suggested Vicky.

Joshua nodded at Vicky, barely acknowledging Robby's annoyed sigh.
"She knows my father, so I should be able to get you in without a wait. Do you need me to carry you?"

Unlike Robby, Rylan had no quarrel with Joshua directly. So he readily agreed with Joshua. It was Amelia's well being that matter now, not a quarrel between the boys. "I agree, I have no idea what to do either other then clean up cuts... How far away is the nurse? Would it be best to send for them?" He pulled away the cloth he had been using, and was satisfied that he had managed to at least clean away the blood.

"I doubt it." Joshua frowned. "She's not very fast. It's probably better to take her in ourselves, or we could be here hours, depending on how busy the nurse is."

"Robby, you're the fastest at saddling, go get the horses ready," said Vicky to the scowling boy, who nodded sullenly and trudged off.
Amelia, meanwhile, was blushing and trying to wipe her eyes. How could she have been so stupid to get everyone all worried for her? She was about to protest, when Vicky continued.
"Rylan's stronger, so he can carry her out. Who's the faster rider between you two? That person can ride ahead and inform the nurse," said Vicky, effectively shutting Amelia up.

Rylan nodded in agreement- he definitely thought he was stronger then Joshua. Glancing over, he replied to Vicky. "I don't know how fast he his, but if I'm busy carrying Amelia, it makes sense that he rides ahead, right?" Then to Joshua he asked, "Can you ride alright?"

"Well, get going then!" Said Vicky, as she marched outside. Robby had saddled three horses up, and was leading them back. Dumpty, the golden horse with a black mane was short and chubby, and but trotted along at a fast pace. Behind him trotted the sleeker horse Iris, with a black body and white socks along her feet. Beside Iris was her foal, Jocky. Jocky had a black body with a pure white mane, and was the gentlest gelding. Robby glanced at Vicky nervously.
"Is she alright?!" He demanded, but Vicky ignored him and called, "Joshua, take Iris or Humpty and ride ahead, Robby can keep up on the other. Rylan can bring Amelia on Jocky."

"I'll see you there, Amelia." he smiled slightly, before turning the horse and riding off down the lane.

Amelia nodded nervously to Rylan as she took his hand, and stumbled into his arms. Blushing a bright red, she muttered an apology, and leaning on Rylan, nervously began hobbling away. Robby had already mounted Iris and was off after Joshua. Amelia could feel Vicky staring at the back of her head, and she muttered to Rylan, "Let's hurry before Vicky says something."
