First year - Harry not being raised in magical world so that he would know less about his rights, ect.
- Hagrid told not to give platform info so that Harry could meet the Weasleys
- Why did Molly shout the Platform # and Muggles
- Did Ron really check the compartments or just go to the one the twins said the BWL was in.
- Dumbledore wanted Harry to find the mirror
- Dumbledore made sure each task could be handled by a group of first years
- Dumbledore publically humilated the Slytherins to get Harry to like him more.
Second Year - Why did only Fawkes show up
- Didn't try to stop rumors about Harry being the attacker cause he wanted Harry to see Dumbldore in his corner
Third Year - Dumbledore didn't give Sirius a trial originally because he wanted Harry at the Dursleys.
- Dumbledore didn't push for a trial in third for the same reason as the one above.
These are just a list of some that could have been.

Hm, if Dumbledore told Hagrid not to tell Harry about the platform, Hagrid would probably blurt it out. I'd rather suspect he told him Petunia could take Harry there, as she knows where it is.
Let's see if I can come up with more.
First year: - not being raised in the magical world would make sure he didn't have magical/pureblood friends with parents that could turn out to be bothersome to the MOB - Dumbledore had the key to the Potter vault and James's cloak. Who gave it to him? - Dumbledore could have changed the detention to the Forbidden Forest to force a confrontation with Quirrellmort - did Dumbledore really not know what was wrong with Quirrell? - did he know the letter from the Ministry was a fake? - From the sound of it, he *flew* to the Ministry - which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Why waste hours on a flight when you can apparate, floo or portkey? Did he want to be seen leaving to bait Quirrellmort into action? - the 'protections' weren't only first-year-material, but tailored for this group, plus maybe Neville
Second year: - why did no one react to the twins telling Molly that Harry was starved? Or Harry mentioning the Dursleys would find it funny if he got lost? Did Dumbledore know and wanted it? - why did Dumbledore not do anything about the petrifications? He should have known what was causing them (what he said when Colin was petrified could be interpreted that way, plus, he was there 50 years ago)
All years: - Dumbledore never stopped Snape, so he could make sure Harry and Neville (and by extension most of the school) were properly beaten down and barely any Aurors could be recruited, so the way for Voldemort's second rise was prepared

Some of them made me LOL.
-"Harry not being raised in magical world so that he would know less about his rights, ect." -> what rights? It seemed to me that the only one who had rights were the rich and powerful pureblood.
-"Dumbledore wanted Harry to find the mirror" -> probably not find it, but he used it to see the real Harry, if he wasn't like Tom somewhat, IMO.
-"did Dumbledore really not know what was wrong with Quirrell?"-> probably knew that Quirrell was up to no good and suspected him to be Voldemort accomplice, but kept him to monitor him, I mean, he used a Troll as a diversion when he was a teacher, I don't want to imagine what he would do if he was cornered and forced use darker magic to get to the school .
-"Dumbledore publically humilated the Slytherins to get Harry to like him more"-> possible and also to make up for the lost points, I mean DD probably saw Hagrid and realized that Harry just tried to help him with NorbertA.
-"Didn't try to stop rumors about Harry being the attacker cause he wanted Harry to see Dumbldore in his corner"-> The teachers doesn't seem to take bullying seriously. meh.
-"why did no one react to the twins telling Molly that Harry was starved? Or Harry mentioning the Dursleys would find it funny if he got lost? Did Dumbledore know and wanted it?"-> Molly didn't believe her sons, and Harry said that Dudley would find it funny, like Fred and George find it funny to tease or insult Percy, it could be that she thought it was more of bickering siblings than bullying. As for DD, I am sure he know some of it, not the cupboard and the worst of it tough, because IMO, if he knew, he would have taken Harry from the Dursleys. Because as much as he want Harry to survive, he can't create another Ariana.
-"Why did only Fawkes show up"-> good one, did Fawkes stay alone in DD office and came alone or was he sent to Harry to help him try his "forces"?
-"Dumbledore didn't give Sirius a trial originally because he wanted Harry at the Dursleys. -Dumbledore didn't push for a trial in third for the same reason as the one above." -> IMO, he didn't have the power to go against Fudge in third year and Crouch before him. The ministry is really corrupt.
-"why did Dumbledore not do anything about the petrification? He should have known what was causing them (what he said when Colin was petrified could be interpreted that way, plus, he was there 50 years ago)"-> probably knew it was a Basilik and suspected that the opening of the chamber where near the Girls' bathroom, but couldn't open it himself. the only think he could do would be to patrol at night hoping to catch the heir or close the school, which would harm the muggleborns more than the others.
-"Dumbledore never stopped Snape, so he could make sure Harry and Neville (and by extension most of the school) were properly beaten down and barely any Aurors could be recruited, so the way for Voldemort's second rise was prepared"-> No comment on Snape, he is a catastrophe as teacher, for the aurors thing I blame more Voldemort's curse, you couldn't find a decent (with little exception) DADA's teacher.
-"From the sound of it, he *flew* to the Ministry - which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Why waste hours on a flight when you can apparate, floo or portkey? Did he want to be seen leaving to bait Quirrellmort into action?" No idea, flew all the way from London? or just from Hogsmead because he can't Apparate near Hogwarts? First option would take him 6h minimum, on a broom or the flying horse, 2 times, ouch. Or Phoenix flying, which could be a lot shorter, maybe few secondes?
-"the 'protections' weren't only first-year-material, but tailored for this group, plus maybe Neville" -> that would mean the protections was placed after Harry and Ron and Hermione became friends, and for Hermione it was end October, it seems unlikely that the stone was unprotected for all this time even more if the last one and the most important wasn't in place yet (mirror until December-January).

There is also the fact that because the Ministry seems utterly useless, it would have taken time for people to realise that Dumbledore really wasn't needed, either that, or the letter wasn't a fake, but just very convenient for Quirrellmort.
I can just see Dumbledore rushing around the Ministry, going from department to department, asking what the problem was, and given how many floors there are, and how inept the ministry seems, it could have taken half an hour for each department to either determine that, no, they didn't need his help, or to say, yes, we need your signature on this document, or could you make sure that such-and-such gets mentioned at the next Wizengamot meeting.
The letter and how Dumbledore got to and from Hogwarts, doesn't necessarily have to have been a manipulation or fakery, it could just have been terribly convenient timing.

There is also the fact about Sirius. Dumbledore never tried to find out if he was innocent or not. No-one did. Because of this it kept Harry from experiencing a truly loving family relationship. Because of this he was placed with his relatives and would be easier to make him more towards Dumbledore.
Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the books and am a big Harry Potter fan, but that did irritate me. I love Sirius, he is one of my favourite characters. And it irritates me that not even Lupin believed that he would be innocent. No-one did.

Some of them made me LOL. -"Harry not being raised in magical world so that he would know less about his rights, ect." -> what rights? It seemed to me that the only one who had rights were the rich and powerful pureblood. Maybe rights is not the best word, but what about the magical world in general? Harry didn't know the first thing about how it worked. Then there are obviously books about him - would he have a right to stop them? That are questions that I would be interested in. Well, if he were, then Dumbledore can thank himself for it for sending him to an abusive home ... and besides, why had he to use something for this purpose that put Harry under so much stress and was frankly dangerous? You think it acceptable to have someone like that in a school full of children? Possible, but he should have given the points earlier, before the feast. Sadly true. Even teachers can bully to their hearts contents. He admitted in OotP that he knew from the beginning that it was bad. But to him, neglect and abuse are perfectly acceptable as long as his pawn was alive being the questionable blood wards so he could use him against Voldemort. And in the latter case, how did Dumbledore know? Don't you think it strange that he could save a proven Death Eater like Snape just with his word, but didn't even bother to try and talk to one of his own Order members? Even if he believed Sirius guilty, why did he never ask for the why? Most attacks happened during daytime, so patroling at night was useless. He should have closed the school! If he knew a basilisk was on the loose, leaving children there was beyond irresponsible. Partly, BUT you need a NEWT in Potions to become an Auror, too. And probably for being a healer and a good number of other professions. They were single-handedly cut down by Snape. No idea. The book is so vague. But why fly to Hogsmeade to apparate when he can just floo from his office? It just doesn't make sense to me. Good point, though I could imagine him changing the protections. Or the one for Hermione was more of a coincidence. Ron and Harry became friends from day one, the flying lesson was in the first week (or second?), and he could have known about Ron and his abilities in chess, seeing that he was the sixth of the Weasley kids to go to Hogwarts. So he could have had the ideas for the protections early on.

Maybe rights is not the best word, but what about the magical world in general? Harry didn't know the first thing about how it worked. Then there are obviously books about him - would he have a right to stop them? That are questions that I would be interested in. I am not sure there is something like that, got the impression that the prophet or anyone could write whatever they wanted, wonder if the extend of laws in the Magical world only concerns violence and keeping the secret and stupid prejudice against other races? <Well, if he were, then Dumbledore can thank himself for it for sending him to an abusive home ... and besides, why had he to use something for this purpose that put Harry under so much stress and was frankly dangerous?> Well, can be seen as DD (well Hagrid to be precise) only accompanying Harry into his Ante's home (who is his only living relative), DD put protection on the house. in other words, DD stopped the ministry to take Harry and place him when they wanted by assuring that his ante took him. and IMO, DD options were all crappy, I mean whatever you choose as option, there is a chance that Harry could be harmed, just some more than others. And for the mirror is dangerous if you dwell in your dreams it's not like the stare of the Basilik when you die instantly, plus he moved it 3 days later, it wasn't that bad. <You think it acceptable to have someone like that in a school full of children?> No way, but it was his philosophy "innocent until prooven the contrary" that saved Harry in 2nd years, when he was suspected to be the heir and if more people used that philosophy (hint ->the ministry), Sirius would have been freed long ago and took Harry with him. And he could keep an eye on him and monitor him, because Voldemort would have used any mean to enter the castle and would have possibly hurt a lot of people. <Possible, but he should have given the points earlier, before the feast.> Yeah, but that would be suspect giving 160 points without reasons, plus he would have to speak about NorbertA. >Sadly true. Even teachers can bully to their hearts contents.> yeah, it's a seriously wrong. <He admitted in OotP that he knew from the beginning that it was bad. But to him, neglect and abuse are perfectly acceptable as long as his pawn was alive being the questionable blood wards so he could use him against Voldemort.> But how bad it was? IMO, he didn't know, because if you try to stomp the magic out off a child you have what happened to Ariana, it's too close to DD's wounds, even if he could cold enough to let Harry with the Dursley knowing that he won't have a happy childhood, he wouldn't let it this far if he knew, a little visit or even a letter to show them that they are monitored would suffice (like it did after his 1st letter). Even more, broken, Harry can't be used against anyone, let alone Voldemort. For me DD didn't want Harry broken, he wanted him to live and grew up, even if I can see that he also wanted to shelter him from the magical world, his fame and more importantly it's prejudice. He lived in Pivet Drive like the minority, he would know how it feel to be the odd one . Maybe he wanted him to understand that. <And in the latter case, how did Dumbledore know?> Well, it's clear that Harry was on something, that he learned that Hagrid was the one accused 50 years ago, and that why he was there that night, DD was leaving the castle and Harry was going to do something dangerous, so he let Fawkes to help in case. <Don't you think it strange that he could save a prooven Death Eater like Snape just with his word, but didn't even bother to try and talk to one of his own Order members? Even if he believed Sirius guilty, why did he never ask for the why?> Not really, because he acted as witness. Don't forget that most DE were captured on information or because of witness or on the words of the ex-imperiosed but real not proofs (like the one Karkaroff betrayed), if some DE said that Snape was DE, and DD said he was his spy, it's a measure of credibility. But Sirius, he got a load on his case, DD witnessed that he was the secret keeper and he was found on the place of 13 murders, laughing, and indirect witnesses that confirmed his culpability. Well, it's no wonder they took him to Azkaban immediately, don't forget that with Crouch it was "Guilty until prooven the contrary" which mean you have to give the proof of Sirius innocence if you wanted him to have a trial. They are mad, completely mad. As why believed that Sirius was Guilty is the same why he believd that Peter was guilty, the two were member of the order. IMO, It just show that betrayal became so common that people would just accept it and did not ask why? why does someone become a DE? Why does someone kill another? Because they are selfish and only think about themselve . <Most attacks happened during daytime, so patroling at night was useless. He should have closed the school! If he knew a basilisk was on the loose, leaving children there was beyond irresponsible.> the problem here is, as they never found the chamber in 1000 years, the only way was the caught the culprit. IMO, closing the school would mean a definitive closure, plus I can see Malfoy twisting it and saying to let the pureblood stay because there is less danger and let the muggleborn come back when they found the monster, which mean never, I doubt the ministry would create another school for them. <Partly, BUT you need a NEWT in Potions to become an Auror, too. And probably for being a healer and a good number of other professions. They were single-handedly cut down by Snape.> Yes that too, but I think DD wanted more to keep Snape as spy than stopping people from being Aurors, but well, DD options were as always crappy, it seems that whatever he choose, things could go wrong. <No idea. The book is so vague. But why fly to Hogsmeade to apparate when he can just floo from his office? It just doesn't make sense to me.> Floo? yes possible but then there is still Fawkes? Oh well, he could have or he could not have, everything could go, but imagine him asking Mc Gonnagal to change her protection? Minerva, go and take down your first protection (wonder what it could be?) and make me a giant chessboard. lol imagine her face.
